Awesome post. Didnt know about the auto window function.
Airbags might be good but it stops me from changing the seats and other things =[

Great post, Ichi. Thank you very much.

Tech specs and presentations are my favorite elements of a car, followed very closely by application.

I just quickly perused through this. Maybe it's just too early, but I saw where they mentioned weight distribution, but didn't see the curb weight. Are they seriously still hiding how much this thing weights or did I miss it?

EDIT: Well according to the two motor trend tests, they weighed the BRZ in at 2747 lbs and the FR-S at 2737 lbs.

Kinda shoots holes in the theory many people had that the FR-S was magically much lighter.

Can someone explain the snow mode to me? I was under the impression that it changed gear shifting on the auto, but it says here that it alters the throttle input. If that's how it functions why doesn't the manual have this mode too?

Everything I've seen on "snow mode" says it starts the auto out in second gear to avoid wheel spin. I suppose it could affect throttle input in a similar way (making it slower to respond) but this was the first reference I've seen to that.

MT can't really control that, due to the clutch comes in that equation.

Oh, I guess I'm just gonna have to drive really carefully then lol

RRnold 04-25-2012 02:46 PM

Well, is it possible for the PDF version with FT86.com watermarked be available for download from this thread? Or is it too big to upload?

Thanks.

That would be great. Don't want everybody to ask ichi to have to send it to their email.

I just wanted to note that, from all appearances, the Technical Presentation Outline contains a major error on Page 26: it identifies the manual transmission as an RA62 (the Lexus IS 250 version of Aisin's AY6) when, in fact, it's an 80% new TL70 derivative of the Aisin AZ6/Toyota J160 used by the Altezza and Lexus IS 200.

Here's more on the subject in a Kaizen Factor story I wrote:
http://kaizenfactor.wordpress.com/20...n-or-is-scion/

And it seems that the FT86Club.com community has already picked up on this, since it's mentioned in this thread:
