I need some help.

So, I recently installed my Diode Dynamics fog light kit. It worked great, but I decided I wanted some different bulbs. Went with a yellow halogen they worked and looked great for a week or so! Until tonight. My fogs wouldn't turn on. So I figured that perhaps the cheapy bulbs had burned out or something! replaced the bulbs to the originals, still wouldn't turn on. Checked the fuses, checked the connections. At this point I was pissed off so I was just going to cut my loses and take them out. Well, while I was unscrewing the connection for the fogs to the battery the ratchet touched my strut tower bar and electrocuted the fuck out of me. Well, long story short no power anything in my car will turn on. The car won't start. I'm fucked. What could've happened?

I'm no expert, but your battery may just need to be jumped. You might've just shorted it.

Check all the fuses. There is a fuse box in the engine bay and a smaller one under the dash.

Also, when disconnecting the battery, always disconnect the negative first and reconnect it last.

Well, first, I don't think you can get electrocuted by a 12V battery .... maybe startled .....:(

The battery shouldn't have run down by simply arching it momentarily.

I suspect you have a bad connection at one of the battery terminals. I suggest you take them off, clean them and make sure they are tightened up good.

I should correct myself, when I turn the key the fan starts my radar detector beeps and something in the dash clicks on and off. So there is power. It's just not getting anywhere important.

It sounds like some fuzes went out in that case.

There is 2 fuse links in the positive battery terminal itself. An 80A and 140A I think. Possibly blew one of these.

As for the fogs, I believe DiodeDynamics has warranty on them. Should send them an email about your situation, possibly get another pair? I recently purchased a set from them as well, emails have been responsive though still running into some complication with the order itself. Anyone have past experience buying from them? (sorry little off topic)

That was the spirit world connection between you and your car initiating. Focus your energy onward into the vehicle and flex your left buttcheeck 4 times to finish the start sequence. Happened to me last week.

Magical.

First off, I dont think the stock battery has too much power and is kinda junk. Over winter and cold months my car stumbles to start when I initially turn the key. With Listening to my radio too long with the car turned off my battery drains so quickly, I do have two 500 watt subs that don't help, but my old car didn't have problems. check into a new battery. That may be your issue.

The fog kit he purchased from us was working just fine, it sounds like the yellow bulbs simply went out, which we did not provide. Most yellow halogen bulbs are very low quality, so failure after a week is not surprising.

OP has contacted us, we recommended he reinstall the bulbs that came with the kit to determine whether the issue is the bulbs or not, that was the last we heard... - we're of course very happy to help determine any issue with the wiring if the regular bulbs also don't work, but our kit is just wires and fog housings... not a lot could really fail, no moving parts. It's probably that the signal wire was accidentally unplugged. Like I said, didn't hear back from OP yet via email.

As others have said, the main battery fuse was probably blown and just needs to be replaced. Gotta watch that wrench, yikes!

Thanks,
Paul

Just a wait on the foglight housings from Japan, which is why the fog kits were marked "Special Order, delivery in 1-2 weeks." We just got 50 more sets today and will be shipping shortly. Sorry, tried to make that delay clear on the product page!

Thanks,
Paul

You were correct! easy fix! And as for the fogs (which the dealership fixed also) they were grounded to a painted surface, which APPARENTLY isn't cool. haha. I got it all sorted out for just around $30.

I meant absolutely no disrespect to you or your company. All of your products have been above and beyond expectations. I got everything sorted out! The bulbs weren't burnt out. It was most likely something I did in installation. The dealership mentioned that the ground was screwed down to a painted surface, they moved it to another bolt and everything is in working order! Thank you so much for your help, I'll make sure to pick up my HID kit through you guys to make up for any disturbances I caused! haha
