New spoiler, need advice!

Still debating on whether or not to get it colormatched or get it colormatched, your inputs are valued and thanks for your time ft86club

Apparently I am a terrible photographer and couldn't get a good angle (straight on from the back)

The fitment is obviously off as I just threw it on there to take pictures :)

Yeah i'm most definitely gonna paint it, should I colormatch it for my white FRS or paint it semi-gloss black I'm sooo torn haha

Redlinedfrs86 11-27-2013 05:59 PM

I think it would look much better matched to the car....unless it was carbon fiber

dbrandt01 11-27-2013 05:59 PM

Here's two opinions.

My Father: Color match it. It looks cheap even if painted black on a white car.

My opinion: I like the white and black theme. Kind of what we called the "Storm Trooper" look in the Silverado's that did the white truck and black flares and such.

Yeah I'm a fan of the Storm-trooper look too, I dunno if it would take away from the spoiler/ my black and white theme if colormatched, going to find a bodyshop to go to on friday and take it in so I need to make up my mind stat haha, it took me like 3 days to decide between black vs white when I got the car too.....

Kanye 11-27-2013 06:02 PM

I'd say color match. It looks plasticy by itself. I'd may leave it bare if it was CF, but Im not a huge fan of bare plastics. Post pics when you finish it! If you decide to!

I want to colormatch it but I've only seen pictures of this style spoiler painted black.... Scared I'll hate it color matched...

ModBargains.com 11-27-2013 06:16 PM

Paint it dude! Leave it clean, it's gonna be the better look if you ask me.

Not aware of who puts this one out, looks pretty identical to the AB Flug one that's out

No decision yet, I'll do it on the spot when I get to the bodyshop :lol::lol::lol:

TylerLieberman 11-27-2013 06:52 PM

White is better. Mismatched panels looks tacky.

I personally prefer color matched over carbon fiber. Having a gloss black spoiler on a white car would just be blehh to me

Honestly, I'd do white if I were you. The storm trooper theme would look good now, but if/when you decide to do a different theme with different wheels, the black spoiler is going to be mismatched. It greatly limits your colour scheme options.
With a white spoiler, you can continue to do any theme you want and it won't look out of place.

reno 11-27-2013 07:53 PM

i'd go white
unless you got a black trunk and roof to go with the black

sc0urge 11-27-2013 08:10 PM

Interested in post-paint pictures whichever way you decide!

I'll definitely post them up for the community, I had been curious about this one for a very long time and no one else provided pics so I guess I'll have to be the guinea pig :mad0260::iono::cry::bonk:

Colormatch

If you've blacked-out your windows and wheels, go with black. :-)

eddieEndo 11-28-2013 03:41 PM

I'm leaning heavily towards a semi-gloss black, kind of like the wheels I am running, something with a tiny bit more shine than a flat-black, I think the accenting would be lost if I colormatched...

DAN_BRZ 11-28-2013 05:44 PM

i say rattle can that baby black, u can always paint it to match if u dont like it, paint to match will cost u more then a rattle can of gloss

OICU812 11-28-2013 06:13 PM

Match it, IMO it will looked tacked on and abit gawdy if it's black. Each to their own 100% I'd color match it though

Wes 11-28-2013 06:19 PM

Color match, will be tacky black unless carbon fiber

amjadh 11-28-2013 08:07 PM

looks pretty racecar imo!

Color match for sure. Your spoiler is bulkier looking compared to the original Abflug one, so it's gonna look like you just slapped on an unpainted spoiler on your car if it's black.

mrlewistan 11-29-2013 12:30 AM

if you have 10 bucks buy a can of white plasti dip. just lay the spoiler on your car unpainted (since its kinda black i would assume) take a pic. then plasti dip it white and take a pic. these should give you a rough idea of what the final decision can look like.

In white...

eddieEndo 11-29-2013 02:46 PM

much appreciated :D

Myv 11-29-2013 03:30 PM

I like white, just for clean look. Unless you got carbon fibre option.

suaveflooder 11-29-2013 04:04 PM

color match all the way. I always feel like the black spoilers on non black cars looks like you couldn't afford to do it right…even if it IS done right just in black, lol

tennisfreak 11-29-2013 06:28 PM

I like this spoiler. Interested to know fit and finish.

mezdup 11-29-2013 07:08 PM

i'd go color match as well
