JDL Auto Design VTA Catch Can / Mini Battery Kit

Built a prototype for my personal car awhile back for the Modified Magazine Shootout...We've had some people ask over the months and now that we are getting caught up with a lot of old work around the shop i thought i would revisit and revise these.

Production cans will be powder coated Texture black. We can also do custom colors on the cans and hardware upon request. (pricing may vary.)

That's actually pretty sick!

reggie@circuitsoul 11-27-2013 07:43 AM

that is pretty awesome !!

bakerr6 11-27-2013 10:38 AM

is it possible to get this zinc plated instead?

JDLAutoDesign 11-27-2013 11:19 AM

Its not something we have looked into before. Powder coat, anodizing, or paint is usually what we offer due to the color/finish options and affordability. I can check on pricing process ect and let you know if its cost effective

Ryan P 11-27-2013 01:48 PM

Did this ever end up making it to production?

Edit: I'm an idiot, I read your Join Date as the posting date.... Looking forward to seeing a release date however.

They can be built right now. I'd like to get a groupbuy together for 10 of them to be able to drop the price down a bit if there is interest!

Any pictures of the inside of the can? Is that a vent on top of the can or is it sealed?

I didn't take any before but i will on the next can. It is fully baffled. The can is vented. Both the top logo and front logo are the vents. They can be easily removed to change the filter element over time.

I didn't see the filter behind the logo as well. Very nice setup.

JDLAutoDesign 11-28-2013 01:03 PM

Sending the can off to get coated tomorrow. Have some more detailed shots once it's back

mrk1 11-28-2013 01:26 PM

I didn't realize the logos are vents, thats awesome. I'd love to see a picture of the inside.

Ryan P 11-29-2013 12:02 PM

Can you shoot me a quote on the priceing? Truth be told I'd probably prefer it left raw, although after seeing it coated I may change my mind.

slicktop 11-29-2013 12:06 PM

Definitely interested.

Ross 11-29-2013 12:34 PM

Like the design, As I do with most of your products. I may have missed it but are the filters cleanable or just a replacement filter?

PhreshhWun 11-29-2013 12:52 PM

Very interested indeed !

frslee 11-29-2013 01:22 PM

Quick Question.

In order to empty the can, do you have to remove the entire can+battery assembly?

If you look close you can see a threaded drain port on the bottom of the can. You can drain it in or out of the car

My car chugged trying to start the past few days and that's with a bigger battery. As long as I could be ok with a smaller one, I'd be interested in this setup.

it's not the size of the battery that matters, it's the CCAs. This battery has higher CCAs than our stock battery does, so I wouldn't worry too much.
