Open letter to the red FR-S with NC plates...

Our BRZ was parked in which is why i was driving my wife's Volvo C30 on an errand.

At first I did not realize you were trying to race other cars. That's not really where my mind was at the moment. When we wound up side by side at a subsequent light and you revved your engine and dropped into gear I took the bait. I know better. It was bad judgement on my part and I'm not very proud of myself. I'm also sorry and a bit astounded how hard the little volvo hatch accelerated. You had me by a car length at the start - good launch! regrettably from there it was all over... I probably should have let you win but again showed a lapse of judgement. By the hand gesture you offered out your window when you made a right at the next intersection I can tell your ego was bruised.

You are obviously very proud of your ride and have put a lot of yourself into it. In hindsight I realize the giant asian characters filling your tinted rear window were probably "hachi roku". I would lose the "shocker" hand sign sticker though. I'm hoping you realize your stance has your rear tires rub the tops of your wheel-wells (others can hear it oustide your car when you go over bumps)... or it could be the drone from your exhaust drowns it out some.

You do need to realize the FR-S/BRZ are not muscle cars or dragsters and that many family sedans can post 0-60 times that match or beat ours...

Thankfully no one got hurt and traffic was light but it does not excuse our behavior.

Missed connections section is on craigslist.

Haha something similar happened with me. I was driving in my GTI on the highway when I saw an FR-S. At first I was going to give a thumbs-up, but then I noticed he was driving like a giant douche, weaving between traffic, tailgating other drivers, and going 30+ above the speed limit.

These cars are cheap enough where young kids can purchase them (or their parents can afford them). Good thing the majority I've seen seem to drive responsibly.

Wow.. pretty passive aggressive behavior here. Obviously this is just a rub-your-face-in-it post. Pretty jerk move right here.

Or maybe he's telling people not to drive like asshats or rice out their cars?

too late for that, the FRS has brought back "rice" - i'm not impressed with half the FRS' i've seen. Kids just randomly sticking whatever their car for no reason with no direction or vision. Its kind of embarrassing.

kh060 11-26-2013 12:55 PM

LOL, that's pretty funny. If you are going to be a douche at the light, better be 100% sure that you are gonna win. I get that all the time when I still owned my 07 Sky Redline (Sold for this FR-S), just took off the "turbo" badge. Don't know how many times civics rev at me trying to bait for a run but I just let it slide because it's just not worth getting a reckless driving ticket or killing someone. I know 90% of the time I will win but still not worth it. :burnrubber:

Guff 11-26-2013 12:58 PM

Bravo, stranger, bro. A titillating tale that will no doubt be an open letter to all 86 drivers about not only street racing, but the starch content of their rides.

That will be an unpopular opinion. Even more so because it seems to be true.

Could have easily done that without all the superfluous insults that he lays on that owner and the vehicle.

As immature and stupid that the FR-S owner was in street racing his car, the OP is displaying the same immaturity and jerk-ishness in his post.

Hi welcome to the world of car forums... Get over it or get out.

OP funny post man :bellyroll:

Billylammerkins 11-26-2013 01:45 PM

Its usually only kids that drive like that... I'm 99% sure most of the people on this forum are very aware of what they spent $23k+ on and that they knew this car stock wasn't meant to be a drag monster. Although I do get jittery when I see a open parking lot to go play around in at night!

It's pathetic, really.

zooki 11-26-2013 01:49 PM

How do some of you guys get in your car without your halos rubbing? (:

Perhaps you aren't familiar with Open Letters and satirical writing, this is actually fairly well done. If it hurt your feelings then you are the intended recipient of the letter. Now, that is not to say specifically that you are the person in that Red Frs but if he is the person in the story you most relate to you will get "butt hurt" to use a technical term

I'm a dumbass myself. But I don't put stupid shit on my car to attract more attention like shocker stickers. I also don't race things that will shit on me. Everyone wants to mod their cars their way. But people that do it cheap and rice it out ruin our cars.

ZionsWrath 11-26-2013 02:02 PM

This is what I see

1. OP states our car is slower than his family sedan

2. Glance at post count, 8 posts

3. Vague reference to OP owning an 86

4. Conclusion; OP obvious troll

5. ???

6. Profit

Well, they ARE cheap cars. The average price for a new car in 2013 was almost $32,000 dollars, so ours are on the lower end of the spectrum.
So in a few years I'll find one that's been ragged out by one of those guys, buy it cheap and make a track car out of it. Maybe just rebuild the motor & suspension, spray flat black primer over the stickers and go to town. LOL

Tromatic 11-26-2013 02:16 PM

If the red FR-S had had a "Fresh As Fuck" license plate frame, OP would have lost.

Seems like a good plan, although it will be a bummer to see the number of ratted-out FR-S' running around covered in bondo, primer and with a broken fart can.

Nah, no bondo or fart can. Muffler deleted(because racecar) and flat black primer(because cheap race car) LOL

Sorry, I didn't mean your particular car. I meant the number of junk-box ricers you will have to choose from. Just like the large number of AFU Civic's you see running around.

Braces 11-26-2013 02:49 PM

Was he racing JoeTheEgyptian?

Just keeping it light.

Ammonia 11-26-2013 03:34 PM

Where in NC was this?

Pbrown 11-26-2013 03:45 PM

Need to know

When did you move from North Carolina? Do you own a red FRS by chance?

Jaywest717 11-26-2013 03:56 PM

Am I one of the few people out there who doesn't feel a need to mod this car? Also, I would never want to race this car against anyone. I am 32. I have nothing to prove to anyone. Plus, this is my first sports car and it cost me quite a bit. Why would I put myself at unnecessary risk?

I do plan to race and all someday, but I will actually go to a professional racing school for that.

Sounds to me like you had you're very first street race against a ricer. Congratulations

However, I stopped street racing about 8 years ago, so

Maybe you all are right. I'm NOT familiar. Nor would I really want to be with sarcastic "satirical writing". I'm not butt hurt over this, rather I'm curious how being a jerk to someone who was a jerk is going to move our society into a better place?

Call me old or whatever, but my thoughts are in this day and age of trolling and all that internet crap, that people celebrating this kind of behavior is merely egging our world to be that much more cynical and depressing.

Who knows... maybe I'm alone in this type of thought. I just choose to continually call people up to a higher bar. Rather than just accept the filth that we live in.
