**PHASTEK** Winjet JDM Replica Headlight and Tail Light Thread

We have many of the Winjet FRS / BRZ items in stock now. Tail lights are in limited supply so please PM with your inquiries.

12/18 - On our second batch of headlights.

There are two available models:
  • Chrome
  • Black
With this headlight, both should be a hit.

Update information 11/26:
  • Confirmed DRL. Functions just like the JDM version of the light. It is wired to come on as a DRL. It will take the low voltage signal from the high beam (9005) connector. For those of you who disabled your DRLs by disconnecting the resistor on the passenger side, you would need to plug this back in to regain functionality.
  • Pricing can now be published.

Black - $454.95
Chrome - $445.95

12/18 - The "cyber" discount code is worth 6% so this lowers the current cost to:

$419.19 and $427.65

It was a pleasure meeting with the Winjet booth @ SEMA 2013. They have a few goodies that I think will interest owners here.

The headlights are JDM replicas. This means no halos, no turn signals etc. For the tails, there are 4 colors available including smoked lens over black housing and red lens over black housing.

The projector is currently h7. This is most likely the same projector used in the Spyder lights as well.

Bi Xenon high beam and low beam. Think Mishimoto retrofit... Cutoff will most likely be not as sharp but "acceptable" for most.

Here's a straight plug and play kit I used in an h7 halogen projector:

http://i805.photobucket.com/albums/y...00k_Spyder.jpg

These lights are made in Taiwan. Don't be surprised if they all share the exact same projector.

EDIT:

Setting these up with an HID kit will be easy!

Thank you for the PM, I am interested in purchasing the chrome version. However would you be able to answer these questions.

1. Will this be plug and play? ease of installation?
2. I assume that the lights above the main headlight are activated automatically as a DRL function correct?
3. Would you happen to have a video of the projectors going through their different modes? DRL, parking lights, low beam, high beam?

thanks for any information you may provide.

To those who have already ordered, your pricing will be updated and refunds sent out immediately. Thank you.

--------

I can do custom invoices for those who want to put a deposit only. The only benefit of paying in full will be that those orders will ship immediately upon receipt of our stock order. Everyone else will be contacted the same day and asked for an authorization for the remaining amount. Those orders do have the potential to go out the same day if you are available to authorize the charge immediately.

These will be plug and play. The hardest part of the installation will be removing the sidemarkers to remove the front bumper honestly.

2. I assume that the lights above the main headlight are activated automatically as a DRL function correct?

Your assumption is 100% on point. They made these to function like the JDM version. They'll take the 9005 high beam plug which controls the DRL and use that.

3. Would you happen to have a video of the projectors going through their different modes? DRL, parking lights, low beam, high beam?

I do not as I have not received the lights yet. This is how they will function though.

Start the car and drop the parking brake. DRLs are on.

Turn the parking lights. DRL is off.

Low beam turned on. DRL is off.

High beam turned on (you'll hear the mechanical flap drop for those). DRL is on.

Thank you very much, Chris.

By the way, there is no way to put the DRL's on with low beam?

They said mid December, but we pressed for info and this appears to be their safe guess. It could be earlier than that. Remember though that they are shipping the actual sets to us though and that will eat up a few days. We are not drop shipping these from the manufacturer.

No problem Kyle. IF I use this headlight in the shop vehicle, I will most likely trigger the DRL with the ignition wire (there is one that goes into the fuse box under the hood). Beyond that I might install an override off switch. Wiring it internally to turn on with the low beams, you'd probably have to add 1 wire with diode and modify the other positive wire to take a diode. This would take a little experimentation.

asphaltkyle 11-26-2013 09:21 PM

Would that be difficult?
Preferably I would want the DRL's on all the time for the aesthetics of it... but that's because I come from BMW angel eyes with projectors.

If you notice there are 3 wires in the picture of the black. This is the 9005 high beam plug. Two wires are going out to the DRL. The other one goes out to the projector.

I would just make an ignition triggered wire and run it to the positive wire. Everytime you turned on your vehicle it would be on. Some might install a switch in the middle to override. For those stealth, clandestine night ops.

Alright just a little update...

We're sitting at half of the Black and half of the Chrome already presold for the first shipment.

Ordered mine last week, black housing, thanks!

Just curious if you folks are going with the packaged HID or something like the Morimoto.

I'm curious about this as well. Not even clear on what the differences are between the HIDs at Phastek and the Morimotos are.

PhastekSport 12-02-2013 03:36 PM

We're offering the package available with the Hero ones (sourced locally) preinstalled.

They are AC ballasts (vs DC) so they cost us a little more, but they cause less wear on the bulbs, provide better color accuracy, and have had less flicker issues from what we've seen. Since we have a huge supply of these locally, if a problem does arise, we can quickly warranty it out.

I've been running them since I first got the vehicle over a year ago with the Morimoto retrofit kit. Morimoto offers great products to include their bulbs and ballasts, but they are on the pricier side.

Thanks Chris. Now that we know that there are additional benefits to ordering HIDs from you guys (instead of going Morimoto) this might change my mind.

Could you also elaborate a little more on the "pre-install" of the HID on the Winjet headlights? How are the ballast mounted? The pictures you took at SEMA, it seems like the demo car has a custom bracket fabricated.. all of these info will help us a lot. Sorry for all these questions :)

Brian

PhastekSport 12-02-2013 06:55 PM

The ballasts will probably be mounted with 3M VHB initially. I know Winjet has spoken about making a bracket that will fit a standard ballast. Let me reverify if the first batch will have those. If not, it will be mounted with VHB. Strong enough to eliminate vibration and still easy to remove / replace.

Keep the questions coming. I don't mind.

We've contacted Winjet. Our rep was out Friday, but another thinks it is enroute. I'll update everyone once I get word.

PhastekSport 12-09-2013 05:06 PM

I have confirmed that they are shipping this week (either today or tomorrow). A backordered set of tail lights from Winjet almost delayed it, but we'll reorder those the next time around.

Once they're here you'll start to get your tracking numbers, and of course I'll post pictures of the shipment.

brianlo622 12-09-2013 05:43 PM

Thanks! What about the folks that only paid the deposit of 100 dollars so far? When are you contacting us for final payment?

PhastekSport 12-09-2013 05:44 PM

As soon as I can track the freight shipment, I'll give those who paid a deposit the option to pay in full.
