he looked like he won the lottery hahaha his grin was priceless, hope he stays employed!

Sport-Tech 04-21-2012 01:35 AM

Looks like fun. Too bad about that fake fender vent - unfortunate design element there. I suspect that is more of a Japanese thing, had the car been designed in NA we never would have seen it.

Guff 04-21-2012 02:23 AM

Dang, that's badass.

ayau 04-21-2012 04:14 AM

i just noticed that he has the bigger jdm muffler tips. hmmm... maybe they'll be available as an option in the US.

Maybe, or maybe because it's limited trim?

Nice catch! Hope you are right about the tips option, they look way, way better - but I doubt it, I was rereading a review yesterday and one of the engineers was asked about the small tips used for the NA market - he said it had to do with pedestrian regulations.

I imagine the aftermarket will offer something pretty quickly though. I don't want to drop a fortune on a cat-back, just a tip replacement please.

I like the cameraman's comment at the end "don't pull up on him". The awkward moment when you finish a conversation with someone and have to leave in the same direction they are.

On an even more pertinent note, I think I heard a little exhaust note when he started rolling again at the green light. That's pretty neat that it has a slight gurgling of that distinctive boxer rumble. I thought the reviews said they eliminated that altogether (sadly).

Sugoi!

MmmHamSandwich 04-21-2012 10:16 AM

Mmm Silver.

The car looks lower from the factor than I would have expected. No complaints there.

Also surprising to see JDM exhaust tips which sadly won't make it to the production model

That vent may have homologation purposes. There's a clear shot for air to pass from the engine bay to that spot on the fender. I hope the aftermarket will have real vents to replace the fake one.

Yeah engineering! woohoo!

Awesome!

It wasn't "Eliminated" like removed, unwanted. It went away while trying to make more HP from the engine, by having same length headers which is more efficient.

Hmmm, I see a lot of NJ plates on these BRZ sightings. Anyone else notice that?

That would explain a lot. Maybe they can bring the BRZ's here a little faster!

The port they use to ship cars to the east coast is in Quonset, RI. Which is not too far from one of the sites I work at. I've seen countless trucks with Subarus haven't seen a BRZ yet.

Sorry, but there are a ton of American / American designed cars that have the weird vent things... most are nonfunctional on top of that. Not saying any (if not all) are tacky... that's up to the owner, but some just come that way. Seems like everyone has the GTR front and M3 fenders and black roofs and BBS-style mesh wheels and fake carbon fiber interiors.

NWIguy 04-24-2012 11:06 AM

I'm jealous of that guy!! I wonder when it'll be here :D

I found it amusing that in the recent Automobile mag article on the new Viper, the designers made a point several times of saying "All the vents are functional!". I guess that shows where we are on this.
