FR-S production review embargo ends soon

It appears the current embargo on FR-S reviews coming from Scion's Las Vegas fly-n-drive test sessions for NA journalists that were held this week will lift sometime next week. Aaron Gold blogged about the test session from Vegas on the 19th, promising a full report next week. And a Jalopnik writer stated in a Scion-related article on Friday that "I was out in Vegas this week, driving a certain rear-wheel drive Scion I'll be talking about in much more detail next week."

Has anybody seen this video yet?

It's Ken Gushi driving the FR-S at that event.

edit: This is from when our regional reps went out to Vegas to drive it. I just read that article from up top and I guess the press got to drive it Thursday?

Yet more drifting. Y-a-w-nnnn.

Maybe it's more fun doing it than watching it.

tripjammer 04-21-2012 11:37 AM

At least Ken did not crash. He did good.

I mostly just like that 180 burnout he does to start off. I think that's proof that the car isn't underpowered. I mean you can see just how easily 2.0 Boxer slings the car around.

Sport-Tech 04-21-2012 01:18 PM

You may be right, provided he didn't drop the clutch at 7000 rpm to break the wheels loose.

2fast4you 04-21-2012 03:52 PM

Yay. More video of Ken Gushi hooning around.

I can't wait for this embargo to be over so maybe we can see some real driving and actual lap times.

I would say it is from my personal experience.

We can't wait 'til the embargo is lifted either. So about that new shirt design...

If Toyota did that, they'd be forever dead to me, desecrating the Supra name like that.

Trust me, it is.

chate 04-24-2012 12:55 AM

Rabble 04-24-2012 11:01 AM

Definitely more fun to do than watch. Scion's marketing for this car really sucks compared to Subaru's. Then again, Scion's marketing in general really sucks.

While I agree somewhat about Scion's marketing, in another sense they are creating demand by letting forums like this create a mystique about the car substantiated by all the rumors circulating about release dates, options, etc. Why spend money on marketing when you can let the car community do it for you!

Or let Subaru advertise for you.

I'm so tired of hearing Ken Gushi tied to anything Scion FR-S related, guy crashes at first event, please just promote the car.

If that's the case, Hibino can't tied to anything Toyota 86 related. Cuz, Hibino crashed the 86 harder than Ken.

seriously, chill...

Not defending the guy but come on, things happen. I do not even get the whole drifting thing, but I can appreciate that it is a big deal for a lot of people. I have already gotten some feedback from one acquaintance at a reliable source who attended the event in Vegas. He really enjoyed the car, he said it had amazing balance as had been mentioned several times already. His only complaint was that the car could use another 20-30hp and it would be just about perfect. Hope to find out for myself soon enough.

Jehuty77 04-24-2012 01:50 PM

I know drifting accidents happen, really its inevitable, I'm just saying I'd like to see the car promoted without him always being tied to it, everything i see on scion's facebook is like "Hey Ken Gushi Took a Shit while drifting, do you want to buy the car now?".

Thats a joke dont freak out
:)

Anyways, will look forward to lift on embargo.

chate 04-24-2012 04:03 PM

dammit man you made me laugh out loud during a meeting with ken gushi's shit...
