catback or axel back

im looking at buying an exhaust was looking at the invidia n1 perrin exhaust unresonated and injen ses exhaust which do you prefer im looking for the most hp/torque gains also any other exhausts would you recommend i currently have an injen intake

sklimo 11-20-2013 05:07 PM

I have Injen intake and running Invidia N1 CBE. I love the combo. Great sound out the ass and you get a growl from under the hood when you go WOT

Anthony7515 11-20-2013 05:17 PM

yeah thats what im thinking of doing! do you feel any hp/tq gains

sklimo 11-20-2013 05:24 PM

Butt dyno says YES!!!!

Anthony7515 11-20-2013 05:25 PM

thanks bro i appreciate do you know any one selling a stock brz rim?

sklimo 11-20-2013 05:28 PM

Not just one. Check the members only classifieds maybe one there????

zc06_kisstherain 11-20-2013 05:38 PM

full catback will yield little more than axleback due to flow.
although, i heard not much difference between stock mid-pipe vs aftermarket.
i personally have Nameless axleback and Motiv catless front pipe.

Anthony7515 11-20-2013 05:47 PM

so is it pointless buying a named catback if i bought invidia n1 i could get it for like 575$

Nameless is the name of the brand…

Anthony7515 11-20-2013 05:59 PM

how much did you spend on that setup

Anthony7515 11-20-2013 06:00 PM

true what exhaust set up do you have

Anthony7515 11-21-2013 11:44 AM

perrin exhaust or invida n1? can get perrin for 657$ and invida n1 547$

which would you go for with those prices!

sklimo 11-21-2013 11:45 AM

Invidia but I am biased a little ; )

Anthony7515 11-21-2013 11:48 AM

yeah haha even with tho perrin was originally 900$ got it down to 657$ and got the invida like 40$ off you still would go invida do you think its a better exhaust?

Anthony7515 11-21-2013 11:55 AM

would you guys get an invida n1 exhaust or a perrin 2.5" non resonated

the invida n1 i can get for 557$ and the perrin i can get for 657$ what would you take

Luis_GT 11-21-2013 11:56 AM

If I could get the perrin for that price, I would all over it!

I would easily spend the extra $100 on the Perrin hands down. Nothing against the Invidia, its a great system for the money.

It all depends on if you're going to upgrade the exhaust beyond the catback.

I personally would go with a Perrin resonated or a Q300 if I planned on headers/front pipe. You'll be glad you did.

Anthony7515 11-21-2013 12:02 PM

for hp/tq gains and for a reliable system with a great producing sound you would take the perrin over the invida n1? also i have an injen intake installed

sklimo 11-21-2013 12:09 PM

You can't go wrong with either. Both are great exhausts.

Myv 11-21-2013 12:10 PM

Perrin since N1 is too loud for my taste.

sklimo 11-21-2013 12:22 PM

True story the N1's are louder. I hate my neighbors so I went loud :bellyroll:

Anthony7515 11-21-2013 12:28 PM

i like loud haha but does the perrin have a better hp gain only reason im considering perrin is because im getting such a good deal on it or else i woulda went invida n1 but for that price take perrin?

sklimo 11-21-2013 12:32 PM

HP gain is similiar between the two if I'm not mistaken. Not much

The design on both systems makes it sound a little different. The N1 has the double canister mufflers versus the crossflow muffler Perrin has. I'd suggest listening to some youtube videos, and if possible, see if anyone local to you on these forums might have the exhaust for you to hear. Performance wise, catbacks don't matter too much.

Where did you get these quotes?

OICU812 11-21-2013 01:00 PM

Nvidia N1 is loud and very dronish imo bit like the evo 3,,, if that's your thing by all means giver. Too loud for this old fart. As others mention as you add more exhaust parts remember things get naturally louder as you go.

boredom.is.me 11-21-2013 01:06 PM

I wouldn't get either.

Anthony7515 11-21-2013 01:10 PM

what would you get borden

IAmNotTheDriftKing 11-21-2013 01:15 PM

I perosnally wouldn't go either route. Go with a perrin resonated. It is a quiet exhaust, but you can add other parts to the exhaust(and it will sound 100x better if you do).

Oh don't mind me. I'm just messing around. :D

As far as quality goes, Perrin is the better of the two. Sound is subjective which is why I said neither.

jamesm 11-21-2013 01:19 PM

perrin for sure

FR-S Matt 11-21-2013 01:51 PM

Tell you what, as soon as my JDL overpipe shows up, I'll show you what my catless header does on one of the quietest systems for the car, the Q300 with a catted front pipe. The headers for this car and the front pipe really increase volume.

vote for Q300 here

Anthony7515 11-21-2013 01:59 PM

can actually get the n1's for 499$ now so should i just do that?

sklimo 11-21-2013 02:14 PM

I would. I got mine used for $450. New ones for $50 more = no brainer

Edit: Again I am biased and it's your car

SoCal909 11-21-2013 02:18 PM

i am in the same boat i think i might get the 2.5" perrin resonated. my thought process is i can always make it louder by getting a new front pipe but if i wanted to make a different exhaust quieter i would have to get a whole new exhaust
