quick release front bumper

Has anyone done this? It seems pretty useful at the track, and was wondering if anyone has done this. If so can you provide any tips/pictures?

I need this. I want this. Tomorrow. Today. Now. If someone is willing to make a kit like this, I'll be 100% in.

This would be great. I am so tired of the stupid side markers.

Those Evo X QR are bad ass. Price needs to come down a bit though.

Gunman 11-21-2013 09:17 PM

We use the http://www.quik-latch.com/ and Camlocs the most, and a few Dzus...hard to find anyone at the shop that like Dzus.

bkblitzed 11-21-2013 09:19 PM

the only thing that i realized is that, if someone wanted your front bumper, they can just take it haha

you still bolt the bumper from the top. That price for the evox quick release is way to much, why spend that much when you can just spend $10 on these http://www.ebay.com/bhp/bumper-quick-release

^ because then you have to drill into the fender as well.

I had the quik-latch ones on my sti. They were awesome. I'd go with them just like @Gunman suggested.

you do but just the bumper. Those other ones you have to drill in the bumper and the fender, lol.

I mean you still are making holes, but the less the better, to me at least.

Enraged21 11-22-2013 09:56 AM

what makes you take your bumper off so many times to need this?

I was wondering the same... Quick access to the intercooler, if you even have one? Granted, two of the 3 cars shown above don't look like they have or will ever see a track day anyways. :iono:

A lot of show car wieners do it for the "race car" look.

Purposefully it makes it easy to access ic piping, oil coolers, etc. if you break something at the track, or to be able to quick pull your bumper and show off your build at events.

Toxicfab is known for making these for the evo crowd. My 2IS bumper was sagging from broken bumper tabs and I retrofitted the bracket to mount to the fender to better secure the edges of the bumper. Easy install and easy to work with.

I wanted to do it to try and make my bumper sit flush against the fender again.

ML 11-23-2013 10:51 AM

I started making my own last night. Just need to get the quick release part.

so its very easy to jack up the front. Im only lowered an inch and a half and my jack doesnt even fit. I can go buy a lower profile jack or put it on 2x4, but this would be a much simpler solution.

I'm thinking the mini quick-latch is the perfect solution for mounting the APR GT bumper.

BlueDubbinTDI 11-25-2013 08:23 AM

There is a slammed IS250 that just added these a couple weeks ago. Now I know what they are :w00t:

They hold up fairly well, but it may need occasional adjustments. Aero catch latches are a more secure solution, but difficult to mount on some bumpers. The small button latches blend well and don't scream race car since they look like parking proximity sensors.

Anyone can provide a how to ? I'd like to do this for towing purposes and also when I need an alignment i want to make sure that I clear and don't ruin the front lip. Thanks guys !

digital_assassin 12-04-2013 10:18 PM

I'm using them on my APR bumper which is stiff fiberglass. My application of these just discarded factory brackets at the corners and I drilled through bumper into fender metal.

gdrider77 01-31-2014 01:27 PM

subbed. Im thinking of doing something like this, just not sure best option yet.

lfuentes92 04-06-2014 05:50 PM
