Seats creaking

I tried searching, haven't came across it.

My driver side seat creaks everytime I accelerate or brake. Seems like it is coming from the seat near the butt area, but I can't pinpoint it exactly. It comes and goes, but comes more than it goes. It is getting really annoying.. :mad0259:

Anyone experienced this? Or know any solutions?

Is it the seat belt strap under the buckle near the center console, like it is for me? I need to put some grease where it pivots

No I don't think its that part, I had that issue before and used some WD40 and it went away. The sound is kind of near that area though. Seems like its from under the seat or something.

Well, my shotgun approach to squeaks is to shoot at them with silicone spray till they shut up ....;)

Hahah only thing is I can't pinpoint this damn creak. I was just going to lube everything up!

Not sure if serious.

My seat creaks when I exit the car. Pretty sure its the seat and not the suspension. I hope it's not the suspension

Allow me to re-phraise my suggestion ..... I just blast everything in the area that "could squeak"......:D.

It might be a spring "in" the seat, if that is the case, you might have to take the seat out to get to it OR inject the lubricant (hot soapy water may be better) through the seat ..... http://www.runemasterstudios.com/gra...mages/woot.gif sort of like a steroid shot into a bone joint.

If its the suspension it'll be pretty loud

Oh man I hope its not the springs, that'll be a pain. It doesnt seem like it though, I try pressing down on it and no noise. But its when the seats move back and forth ie. accelerating/braking that the noise comes. I thought it was the seat rails at first, but it wasn't. I'll try to do a vid on it.

Razz 11-16-2013 09:07 PM

Sounds like the seat is not fully locked.

Get in back and try to push it hard after the front seat is in position.

Get out of the car and push the seat after it is in position.

I have the same thing... I originally thought it was the shifter.. But it's actually from leaning over to use the shifter that I hear the noise from the seat..
I don't have to move much at all.. The noise is pretty low but noticeable..
I haven't heard it in awhile.. Maybe the cooler weather setting in.. It's weird but not too bad now that I know what it is..

No its not that, seats locked in place. If not when I drive it'll lock itself anyway.

Yeah thats it! Yeah its not bad in the morning when cold, but later on in the day, it really gets annoying for me esp when driving in traffic.

jacjac3 11-22-2013 02:06 AM

I have the same problem. I was gunna ask the dealer next time I get my oil change.

T|tan 11-22-2013 07:14 AM

It is the reclining joint, try lubing it.

Freetime 11-22-2013 10:16 AM

So....without being rude about it, are you a big dude? how much do you weigh?

jacjac3 12-04-2013 02:08 AM

Anyone find the root cause?

BentAnat 03-03-2014 02:19 AM

I am having this exact issue. @Wes, did you manage to find it? I have not tried any of the solutions yet, save for checking that the seat is locked. My next step is the reclining joint, since that makes most LOGICAL sense for me.

supramkivtt2jz 03-03-2014 09:52 AM

my drive side seat squeeks when i move when it is all the way back. i moved it forward one click, and it has stayed quiet.

however, the rattles in the rear...... drive me fucking nuts

HunterGreene 03-03-2014 09:59 AM

Yeah, I've noticed this as well. Only annoying until I turn the radio up. If it gets louder, Ill do something about it.

Yeah I solved the issue, anyone having this issue, just spray WD40 on the rails and it'll go away.

And no I'm only 160 so not really heavy, but at that time I was 145 when the seats started creaking.

BentAnat 03-04-2014 03:23 AM

Awesome! Gonna do that tonight. Thanks a mill. It was driving me a bit nuts.

Spray the seat rails, it's the thing that's right under the seat where the seats slide on when you pull the lever to adjust back and forth. Try and get where the seats slides which is kinda like on the sides of the rail I believe? ( can't remember) use a wd40 with like a long tube so u can reach w.o getting it everywhere

I tried spraying WD40 all over the rails but didn't help.

Send my car to the dealer and they took the whole chair apart and regrease every joint. No more sound. yay!
