Cars in Portland

I didn't want to steal anyone elses thunder incase they posted it here, but a member on a different board had this to report (I don't live in portland so I can't verify this information)

Quote:

On Saturday the Toyota ship arrived and offloaded tons of Toyota, Lexus and Scion vehicles into the Toyota's port facility in North Portland.

Contained in this shipment were 107 Scion FR-S's destined for the 73 dealers located in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Western Montana and Alaska.

(M/T vs A/T)
Whiteout (White): 9/7
Argento (Silver): 10/4
Asphalt (Gray): 10/4 (well, nine M/T available since one is mine!)
Raven (Black): 12/5
Hot Lava (Orange): 10/4
Firestorm (Red): 13/5
Ultramarine (Blue): 10/4

I did some stealthy hiking today and managed to spot a few at the port, although there are SO many cars packed tightly together, and my camera is just a compact point-and-shoot, that it was hard to find more than a handful.

http://i44.tinypic.com/14oa9w2.jpg
From the west side of the Willamette River I could only spot a single car

http://i43.tinypic.com/kcxnow.jpg
As I walked the tracks just east of the facility I spotted a Hot Lava FR-S
near the main entrance, and a Firestorm (red) FR-S parked near the body
shop. Maybe there was a little shipment damage to this car?

http://i44.tinypic.com/35jgy3c.jpg
A few more cars mixed in with some tCs, Priuii and Lexii.

A Whiteout and an Asphalt FR-S.
The Asphalt could very well be mine!!!

So he was right! Some time ago my buddy, who's an inisder, said that there were FRS/BRZ's already on the seas and that dealers should begin taking delivery by the end of April. This might just might prove him right.

Either way we all WIN! :party0030:

SkitterSkotter 04-19-2012 01:17 PM

Where is my hot lava manual fr-s!?!? I need to get that car asap, I NEED it!

Dadhawk 04-19-2012 01:18 PM

Sweeet! :party0030:

Great spy work.

MmmHamSandwich 04-19-2012 01:53 PM

What a slueth! Awesome news for soon to be FR-S owners.

Even better news when you combine it with this: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5129

We might see deliveries happening sooner than most thought.

I think I already hit the "Thanks" button, but just wanted to say thanks again for posting this! It may not mean my car is in the US yet (plus its a BRZ and these reports are all Scion) but it is nice to know they're arriving! Thats exciting for a lot of folks on this forum!

MarkRacerX 04-19-2012 03:09 PM

WHoo Hoo! I see my Whiteout, Scion rep just called me saying 1st/2nd week of May to take Delivery !!!!

Thanks for sharing!!

tripjammer 04-19-2012 03:30 PM

What so they are coming early? Or are these the first 86 cars? I thought it was June 1st?

Wow! So what was the point in wining the first 86? Oh wait the free trip to California! Yeah buddy!

Ok the rest of the cars are dealer demos...makes sense....

Yeah I just figured that out as I was typing my post....I actually can't wait to see a FR-S in person. I know I am probably going to get a BRZ Limited but I still like the way the FR-S looks in the front.

devo6273 04-19-2012 03:59 PM

Are dealers even getting demo vehicles? The scion dealerships I've talked to in the CA bay area have said that all cars are spoken for before they arrive and the only opportunity for a test drive will be when you have a deposit and your designated car arrives.

I heard mention of some floor models, but those will sit and not drive. Most likely test drives will be able to happen once all of the people with deposits buy their cars or decide not to and if stock remains.

Wow you have a great eye for detail! Amazing find!

slizoth 04-19-2012 04:58 PM

Holy crap there are BRZs in Portland!? I may have to make a soaky motorcycle trek up North for this. Anyone know which dealers in Portland are going to be handling these cars?

Scions. No reports of BRZ's arriving in the U.S. at least AFAIK.

There are however some BRZ's* showing up in Richmond, Canada.

*They are actually FR-S's. Man we need to get the admins to enable strikethrough text don't we?

Ikaros 04-19-2012 05:22 PM

The ones spotted in Richmond were just FR-S. Since the name on the trunk is on the bottom right corner and not top right

You are true.

jonnyquest 04-19-2012 05:51 PM

Bad ass ! I cant wait till these cars are available. I'm holding out for the BRZ STI. I got a call from the Subaru dealership yesterday and they said they will have the BRZ in within the next 2 months. I'm in Grants Pass Oregon (southern Oregon). I NEED THIS CAR !

Must mean that the Subie boat was drafting the Toyota's over... I guess that video that showed the FR-S (GT-86) being a second faster than the BRZ was more accurate than we guessed! Even the boats getting them here are just a little bit apart! :party0030::happyanim:

I bet you felt like James Bond doing this. Fortunately, a Toyota man didn't come up from behind and hit you over the head and destroy your camera.

K2 04-19-2012 08:25 PM

I got a call from my Scion rep today. He confirmed that the first shipment is here and that the First 86 are supposed to take delivery by May 18th. He also said that my (non First 86) FR-S was in that same shipment and is scheduled to be delivered to them at the same time as their First 86 car, but that my FR-S won't be released till mid to late June. I didn't want to grill him but I guess it's so the First 86 get a month of FR-S joy before the rest of us.
But on the up side he also mentioned that they (the dealers) got strict instructions from Scion that these cars are not to be driven around by anyone at the dealerships. They are to be prepped and then parked to wait for their owners.

m.box.design 04-19-2012 09:17 PM

hmm..shall i drive across town to get a nice view from the st.john's bridge to get a look at the toyota loading lot as well? :happyanim:

Speaking as a "First86" person... I think it's lame that they are going to make everyone else wait to buy it so that we can drive it around for a month. If the cars are at the dealership, let people buy them already. The swag, trip to LA, and no stress of "will they get in the one I want?" is enough of a benefit.

luxmn 04-20-2012 12:15 AM

agree. also you forgot the "First" badging, that's all I need. let my fellow men have his cars :D

DeepHunta 04-20-2012 12:34 AM

someone may have already mentioned this in other threads but it takes about 3 full weeks for a boat from China to arrive in the Northwest coast ports in north america sooooo I would guess it would be about the same for Japanese shipments.

I know coz my work involves shipping logistics from China to Seattle ports.

Not sure if its 100% accurate but JHollis told the 1st86 it takes 9 days to the West Coast and 24 (or was it 21) days to the East Coast.

M-17 04-20-2012 09:03 AM

oHH where the hot lava at?

There are probably a few 1st86ers that might disagree with you, wanting that exclusivity of having the FR-S before everyone else. If Scion corporate wants the dealers to hold the cars till a certain release date, that's fine with me. I've been waiting years for this car, a few more weeks isn't going to matter. I'm just happy that I've got one with my name on it.

I'd be OK with it if they released them. My dealer mentioned they were getting two as well, but wasn't sure if the second was a customer car or their "floor model". I suspect its the demo/floor model.

Either way, I wasn't really after the "early delivery" thing, I just enjoyed the ride getting here!

slizoth 04-20-2012 05:18 PM

How about a test drive? Can I get a god damn test drive so I can finish my order? Sheesh

I was in St Johns on Tuesday with my binoculars. You can see them....

miata 04-21-2012 12:34 AM

how to stupid it is to punish others to reward the first 86. They should have just given the first 86 $300 discount or something instead of holding the others hostage.
It is ridiculous.

Absolutely. They'd probably feel differently if THEY would have been one of the 1st 86!

mattles 04-22-2012 06:43 PM

as another 1st86 winner, I dont care much for the exclusivity of getting one a few days before the general public. Id rather have exclusive PRICING or a nice limited badge + certificate. But whats done is done, Id just like to drive the damn thing already and enjoy it.

I think it's BS y'all aren't getting anything like the badge or cert or something else special with the car.

I also think it is BS they would let a new FR-S sit on the lot for a month instead of letting the owner who has already put down a deposit take delivery. Hopefully that info was not accurate.
