Where is the best dealer to get Scion FR-S?

Hi. I'm planning to get whiteout FR-S in the future but I don't really know about best dealer to deal with. Is there any preferred Scion dealer on this forum? I know some forums have some dealers as their vendors and usually those dealers can hook up forum members with very good deal.

I live in Davis, CA but don't really mine to travel to get the right car. I'm not in hurry but will do the research as soon as I can because I will get one as soon as I got my employment letter (hopefully).

I know for Subaru BRZ is heuberger (sorry if I type it wrong) but where is fpr Scion?

If you're willing to drive, go down to Socal Power Toyota in Cerritos is pretty good. Look for Weng and tell him I referred you.

strat61caster 11-01-2013 07:05 PM

:sigh:

There's no exemplary Scion dealer that has emerged, and if you're in a populated area of California you're positively boned, the cars don't get options slapped on them in low population areas to keep the MSRP down as opposed to the Bay and LA who jack theirs up to well over $30k because the demand is there.

Either you get a salesman's nuts in a vice or you go long distance, I was talking to a dealership up in Oregon who wasn't adding in bullshit, ended up getting a salesman to commit to a no option car in San Jose but I would have flown up and driven it down if I had wanted the car bad enough but I waffled on it. Was two words and an airplane trip away from getting a Hot Lava up there but panicked.

Sales have slowed, you should be able to call around and ask for what you want, if they can do the deal they'll try, most would rather move what's on the lot with absurd markups and will just forget you exist the moment the phone gets hung up. Not many will sympathize because with "pure price" and dealers hungry for sales elsewhere it isn't as bad, hence the sarcasm.

In any case, this should have been posted in the NorCal subforum, not the main one.

BlueDubbinTDI 11-01-2013 07:25 PM

Fly out here to Jax. You get what you want. Period. I made my dealer my bitch

Manic 11-01-2013 07:31 PM

Scion in Buena Park is pretty legit. Ask for William Lincks. I came in on a friday night, despite having issues with my pre-approval not yet arriving. I just wanted to see the car. He ended up guaranteeing me at least 4%, and would confirm it the next monday when TFS had cleared my paperwork. If it didn't work, he told me to just bring the car back no hard feelings, no money lost.

Got back in touch with me that monday, told me that he could get me 2.75%. HE GOT A LOWER APR AND GAVE IT TO ME. Mad respect.

Longo Toyota/Scion in Long Beach. Use their internet quote and work with their internet sales guy. Longo is the biggest Toyota dealer in the US. I've purchased past 3 Toyotas from them. For the FR-S, I used Toyota Escondido since Scion uses Pure Pricing and I didn't want to have to drive up to LA. Process was smooth with no pressure and I got the base car I wanted.

FRiSson 11-02-2013 12:04 AM

Check out Montgomery Scion in Augusta. Worth the drive!

carlo1912 11-02-2013 02:48 AM

Thanks guys! I have been eyeing Longo and Escondido because the price is reasonable there. In area where I live, there are few dealers but the problem with unpopulated area is the supply not too much

Check out TrueCar.com I saw some dealerships offering about 24k around Redwood City & Fairfield.

MarcFr-s 11-04-2013 01:52 AM

I got a great deal at Carson Toyota through fleet manager Diane, but it was through a great car loan with Pen Fed. Advertised .74% if you use their car buying service which is really True Car. Carson was the lowest quote from PenFed, Diane will get you the car you want with what you want on it at under msrp. This was at the end of July, should be even better deals on 2013's if any left I would think.

frslee 11-04-2013 08:30 AM

It appears that a lot of '13 models' prices have gone down since the 14s came out. I'd just search for untouched fr-s and buy it. Of course doing maintenances on your own.

Raven-mt 12-06-2013 03:37 AM

I like how people talk about making the dealer their bitch and what not when scion has a no haggle price option. They don't change the price of the car. Maybe finance it different, but if it's 25,995, that's what it's gonna be. But it's a good thing to hear of people accomplishments...

When it comes to car buying (and a plethora of other things) there is ALWAYS room for negotiation.

Always.

California is a massively different market from Washington. Locally there are 25+ FRS marked up to over $30k and roughly the same listed under $26k with everything else falling in the middle.

The only thing Pure Price guarantees is that the advertised price is the price you pay, the dealership is totally within their rights to place a $3,000 leather seat cover kit or $4,000 'aftermarket navigation' and those cars were selling (I passed on both). It's easy to say 'just go to another dealer' but when over 90% of the dealers within a 200 mile radius know that they can markup without repercussion (sorry sir we only sell cars with the $900 clear bra that only covers the front bumper) it's a pain in the ass.

Sorry, I was not happy with my buying experience at any Toyota dealership in the area, Pure Price was used against me (We have no control over what options are added, 'we're sorry' despite violating the contract we agreed to when you placed a deposit) and I pray I never walk onto a dealership lot again.

I'd like to think I was a simple customer, base FRS with a manual, no options for MSRP, I think I'd rather perform my own root canal than try to find another FRS in the area.

Got mine in early summer basically at a point dealers weren't expecting many/any more 2013s and knew what they had would go before the 14 models, basically terrible timing on my part, but I had a trade that needed to go before the transmission shit the bed. The dealer moved $500 off the "pure price". It's all they were willing to do on that end though.

More importantly after the hour or so of back and forth I got basically private sale equivalent on my trade which I needed a way to ditch, and the car had the display audio head unit in the dash and not charged on the window sticker.

End of the day net price is all that matters.

Question: How can Russell Toyota Scion (MD) charge $22,494 for a brand new car?
Is that a scam to get you in the door and then add stuff on?
That price is lower than most of the used prices out there. In fact they have a used FR-S on their lot with 10k on it that they are charging more for than the new 22.4 car.
Your thoughts?

Sounds like a bait and switch to me.

The dealer may have more motivation to move the new car off the lot than used. In the last number of years slightly used certified cars end up right around the sticker price of a new vehicle.

Holdover, outside of season, etc.

Its not bait and switch till you inquire and they try pull shenanigans.

22.5 sounds about right for an advertised price on a holdover 25k sticker car.

Buy one from Japan.

I used the car buying service from my credit union and ended up going through Toyota Vallejo as the dealer. I had excellent service and no hassle what so ever. I'd recommend them if you want to stay somewhat local. Not to far from Davis. They got exactly what I wanted and when my car was came in, they came and picked me up from San Ramon to take me to the dealership to get the car.

FRSure 12-06-2013 12:20 PM

I'm surprised even some 2014 is cheap in my area. 20121

Some auto are only 24-25k and manual is 23-24k.

trekkie 12-06-2013 12:31 PM

I would think if you live in CA and the dealers are such markup fiends like that, you could use a service like TrueCar or say Costco's services to get your vehicle instead.

i had run some different vehicles through true car this summer,

most models resulted in a 3 month peppering of emails from every dealer in the area

frs/brz resulted in radio silence

trekkie 12-06-2013 12:43 PM

Weird, my nearby Toyota/Scion dealer has four on the lot, black, two red, and I think a used hot lava one. All at list price, little/no markup. Guess there are benefits to living in the non cool parts of the states :) (Raleigh, NC)

N1rve 12-08-2013 08:07 PM

Since you're in Davis.... Longo Toyota isn't that far away.

That's where I buy all my Toyotas and my FRS. I got 1500 off MSRP for my FRS 10 series.
