Cutting up a perfectly good 86/FRS with an angle grinder.. eek :S
Well I knew the day would come... And last week my car went from this:
http://www.streetfx.com.au/galleries/86/sfx86.jpg To this: http://www.streetfx.com.au/galleries/86/IMG_4644.jpg Sickening! :barf: :barf: :barf: :barf: Now currently looks like this: http://www.brzforums.com.au/uploads/...1382676099.jpg Am lucky I am presently interstate as it was not a fun thing to watch :S by the time I get back to my home town, the thing should be finished. Widebody and with molded in guards and functional BRZ vents etc.. I will update my build thread here when it's finished, in the meantime, if interested, there are hundreds of full progress pics and details **here** |

....sssooooo, you took a perfectly good TRD GT86.... and cut stuff out of it?......
http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m4...zmdho1_500.jpg However, maybe the final product may be worth it. Waiting with further comments on finished pictures. But.... why not just take a stock non TRD GT86? |
Who cares what trim level it is.
Rocket bunny. |
What wheels are those in the first pic?
|
Who doesn't wanna do this?

Especially if you don't throw a big old turbocharger in the car that makes 400hp+ and 300ft lbs of torque+. Otherwise I would feel embarrassed to drive a car that looks really fast but could get beat by a V6 Camry. |
Lmao @ the "move over --->" sticker in the window.
He's the only one who's going to be driving it so who cares what he does to it lol. I can't stand the sight of rivets... |

Here is some of the bits for the next stage http://www.brzforums.com.au/uploads/...1382425683.jpg All this is going to look totally different shortly also.. These are the stock internals of the spare motor.. Have forged rods, pistons and sleeved block being built. http://www.brzforums.com.au/uploads/...1381553757.jpg http://www.brzforums.com.au/uploads/...1381553759.jpg At any rate, with 500+ hp I expect it wont be getting embarrassed at the lights :P (until the driveline breaks at least) |
watttt

I look forward to updates on this.
|
very curious to see how it'll look like when done
|
My condolences on how ugly that car is going to be.

Someone is having too much Cash + time + Boredom. I can't believe someone is chopping it up that Badly already.
After all, it is not just a Ferrari eh ? where it would cost a child to buy one.... |

If a lot of people didn't like it, It would not exist. So your opinion, is simply that. He is spending a lot of money and effort to do something pleasing to himself, and sharing to other people who enjoy it as well. Fucking take your negative attitude elsewhere. |
haha how many whp does that nos pillow give you???
|
Nice!! Are you getting the V2?
I wonder if this kit will end up like how the TRD WB was to the Supra. Once done, there is no turning back. |

I like how you covered up the rivets. Are you trying to make this look like a "stock" wide-body if you will.
|
Ok, I like custom cars. But why murder resale and all the anxiety involved with doing this and just get a (lightly used) Cayman S or M3 for all the money that will have been invested into it, including the price of the car, in the end?
Probably going to be jelly as fuck when its over... but I was like :eyebulge:when I saw this.. |

ha, nice ЯƎVO ƎVOM sticker. I'm wondering if I could pull off one of those, being an asshole driver in an area populated almost strictly by other assholes and clueless folk...
|
Had not noticed this detail on the clown-car wing before. The finishing touch!

Ahhh the internet, where people always feel the need to talk down on other people's choices...
No one cares if you don't like what he's doing |

Here's a tastefully done fast FR-S just so you don't think I'm some sort of anti-mod Luddite. Don't need any more butt-hurting. http://cdn.autoweek.com/galleryimage...3.jpg&MaxW=630 |

It might not be everyone's taste, but stock body 86's and BRZ's are OH SO COMMON, I saw 7 of them yesterday (no joke) while driving for half an hour. I guess I just don't like to be like everyone else, and want something relatively unique. As far as I am aware, it will be the only one in Australia with a molded widebody rocket bunny kit, and one of only a few in the world. :burnrubber: |

You have to widen the fenders. How else does one fit 345 wide tires underneath it!
Bro's gotta stick to the ground bro. |

The 86 was a great entry level sports car, which gave us a good connection with our audience, as well as put a smile on my face every time I took her to the track, so it was a win-win in my eyes :) Yep there are plenty better cars out there for the money (hell you can get an R35 for not much more than this 86 has cost so far), but it's not going to achieve what we wanted.. Admittedly I did get a little carried away on this car though. :S Quote:

Also, once it has been done, there is no turning back... It certainly is a shame to cut up an otherwise perfect car, and made me quite upset that's for sure :S |
Im not sure who is doing your work or if your doing it yourself but you may want to restart the fiberglass and sand the paint before applying the epoxy this time around. Cracking is going to be your biggest enemy.
|
Damn this is gonna be a sickening build, exactly what i would do with the molded rb kit minus the wing tho
