Cutting up a perfectly good 86/FRS with an angle grinder.. eek :S

Well I knew the day would come... And last week my car went from this:

http://www.streetfx.com.au/galleries/86/sfx86.jpg

To this:

http://www.streetfx.com.au/galleries/86/IMG_4644.jpg

Sickening!

:barf:

Now currently looks like this:

Am lucky I am presently interstate as it was not a fun thing to watch :S

by the time I get back to my home town, the thing should be finished. Widebody and with molded in guards and functional BRZ vents etc..

I will update my build thread here when it's finished, in the meantime, if interested, there are hundreds of full progress pics and details **here**

....sssooooo, you took a perfectly good TRD GT86.... and cut stuff out of it?......

http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m4...zmdho1_500.jpg

However, maybe the final product may be worth it. Waiting with further comments on finished pictures.

But.... why not just take a stock non TRD GT86?

Deadspool 10-29-2013 08:24 AM

Who cares what trim level it is.

Rocket bunny.

I would rather have his TRD kit. But everyone has their opinion and they do what THEY like to their cars. Which is why the car scene is awesome.

Raises hand...

Especially if you don't throw a big old turbocharger in the car that makes 400hp+ and 300ft lbs of torque+. Otherwise I would feel embarrassed to drive a car that looks really fast but could get beat by a V6 Camry.

Steve201brz 10-29-2013 12:35 PM

Lmao @ the "move over --->" sticker in the window.

He's the only one who's going to be driving it so who cares what he does to it lol.

I can't stand the sight of rivets...

100% agree. There is a Youtbue video of a turbo BRZ that looks completely stock pulling on a Mustang Boss and a Nissan GTR....

They never saw it coming :)

Already is turbo if you look at the picture, even on low boost a V6 camry isn't going to be passing ;) Has the AVO kit being removed and a Full Blown Motorsports turbo kit (with larger than supplied turbo) and a fully built (sleeved, forged, etc) engine getting dropped in. Will be pushing 500-600hp.

Here is some of the bits for the next stage

All this is going to look totally different shortly also.. These are the stock internals of the spare motor.. Have forged rods, pistons and sleeved block being built.

At any rate, with 500+ hp I expect it wont be getting embarrassed at the lights :P (until the driveline breaks at least)

Congratulations on your opinion.

If a lot of people didn't like it, It would not exist. So your opinion, is simply that.

He is spending a lot of money and effort to do something pleasing to himself, and sharing to other people who enjoy it as well. Fucking take your negative attitude elsewhere.

bdanisi 10-29-2013 07:24 PM

haha how many whp does that nos pillow give you???

RRnold 10-29-2013 07:45 PM

Nice!! Are you getting the V2?

I wonder if this kit will end up like how the TRD WB was to the Supra. Once done, there is no turning back.

The Rocket Bozo kit is still ugly, merely my opinion. Much less negative than your opinion of my attitude, no?

forzajuve 10-29-2013 08:11 PM

I like how you covered up the rivets. Are you trying to make this look like a "stock" wide-body if you will.

BlueDubbinTDI 10-29-2013 08:26 PM

Ok, I like custom cars. But why murder resale and all the anxiety involved with doing this and just get a (lightly used) Cayman S or M3 for all the money that will have been invested into it, including the price of the car, in the end?

Probably going to be jelly as fuck when its over... but I was like :eyebulge:when I saw this..

Had not noticed this detail on the clown-car wing before. The finishing touch!

Then the internet would be a very quiet place. I'm offering my opinion. Why are you butthurt? Here, first-grade style for ya: "I think the Rocket Bunny body kit is ugly as sin. That's, like, just my opinion man."

Here's a tastefully done fast FR-S just so you don't think I'm some sort of anti-mod Luddite. Don't need any more butt-hurting.

I don't understand this comment?

It might not be everyone's taste, but stock body 86's and BRZ's are OH SO COMMON, I saw 7 of them yesterday (no joke) while driving for half an hour. I guess I just don't like to be like everyone else, and want something relatively unique. As far as I am aware, it will be the only one in Australia with a molded widebody rocket bunny kit, and one of only a few in the world.

You have to widen the fenders. How else does one fit 345 wide tires underneath it!

Bro's gotta stick to the ground bro.

Yep, I want it to look factory.. With the exception of the wing, I think molding it will give it a factory look. If it gets too much police attention, I may get a spare bootlid and just run a TRD wing for the street, and the ridiculous rocket bunny wing for the track. :)

I bought the car for a specific purpose, to cater for the market my company sells products for. I already had a convertible Porsche and a V10 BMW M5, and also have an R35 GTR - but they don't appeal to the majority of our cfan base, as they are mostly out of reach of the people that buy from us.

The 86 was a great entry level sports car, which gave us a good connection with our audience, as well as put a smile on my face every time I took her to the track, so it was a win-win in my eyes :) Yep there are plenty better cars out there for the money (hell you can get an R35 for not much more than this 86 has cost so far), but it's not going to achieve what we wanted.. Admittedly I did get a little carried away on this car though. :S

It's all good :) I'm sure there are people out there that complain that the 86/brz/frs is ugly too from stock, can't please everyone :P It doesn't worry me if a few folk dislike, it still achieves its purpose. I just wanted to share my progress on here, doing something that most people aren't doing. If that attracts ridicule from the minority, I feel sorry for the others that cross paths with such opinionated people.

Nah it's the V1, but with some adjustments to the rear diffuser, front guards and the entire kit is molded in instead of riveted on.

Also, once it has been done, there is no turning back... It certainly is a shame to cut up an otherwise perfect car, and made me quite upset that's for sure :S

ciro 10-29-2013 11:36 PM

Im not sure who is doing your work or if your doing it yourself but you may want to restart the fiberglass and sand the paint before applying the epoxy this time around. Cracking is going to be your biggest enemy.

kidgogeta 10-29-2013 11:58 PM

Damn this is gonna be a sickening build, exactly what i would do with the molded rb kit minus the wing tho

It certainly was sanded prior to the FG being applied..
