Confirmed Details:

Australian specs and naming:

We will have two versions, both available in Manual and Auto
- Toyota 86 GT 2.0L Petrol Coupe
- Toyota 86 GTS 2.0L Petrol Coupe

The Toyota 86 GTS will have an Aero Package option.

When people refer to the 'top spec' they are most likely referring to the 86 GTS w/ Aero Pack.

Sources?
Or they should be in orange.

Nardi330 04-15-2012 08:50 AM

I think at this stage apart from the car is coming nothing is confirmed officially by TMCA...

JFC 04-15-2012 09:16 AM

Thanks for reconfirming my earlier posted information, i was beginning to worry.

Top spec we refer to as the GTS, Aero was always Aero or Nur Aero.

As for launch, id suggest test drive avail late may with 8/6 avail for delivery, but each dealership would have the ability to prepare each customers car, you know pull all the plastic off wash and detail final check over etc as they arrive at the dealership. Does this seem like a possible scenario??

Ill pm a question regarding specs.

Exactly.
So far all I see in this post is wild speculation.

Not only is it speculation, its doubtful speculation.
I rekon the badges are far more likely to be SX and ZR like Toyota has been puting on AUSDM "sport" cars for years. But thats just a guess, much like everything else on this forum.

He works within the TMCA

Not to start a shit fit bullshit argument but your suggestions for the 86 are not correct.

The real Oz badges are as posted above GT and GTS with a Aero option for GTS, i was able to pilfer that info from Head office a few weeks ago. Chick sounded hot :party0030:

Aero option for GTS is awesome because that could mean dealers could order the aero package separate and add to car locally which means that god awful wing can be put in the trash or not even added if so desired.

Palmy 04-15-2012 10:18 AM

No shit-fights here, I like I said its just a guess and as long as everyone else feels the urge to post unsubstantiated rumors as "confirmed facts" I will reserve the right to question them.

[COLOR="Orange"]It's still considered speculation, but since we've ruled out the first two, I'm pretty sure our GT is the same as the Japanese GT, and our GTS is equivalent to the GT Limited.

So u are saying we are getting the JDM GT as our base, GT with leather/suede as our high spec and then the full GT Limited as our high spec with aero??

So all our cars will have HID/LED, 17" wheels, fog lights, rear vertilated brake disc, push button start, duel zone climate control etc? U also realize audio equipments are optional extra in Japan on all the grades and G has automatic option (without LSD)??

Ballsak2nv 04-15-2012 07:36 PM

Top stuff Netrosis keep it coming brother!

JFC 04-15-2012 07:38 PM

Yeah i think Netrosis might of been alittle confused about the japanese offerings.

If you read the info that was in the color brouchure it appears our base will be a Jap G but with added leather steering wheel and gear knob, but our high spec lines up directly with Jap GT.

This info is already on the net.

Nardi330 04-15-2012 08:53 PM

that's what i thought too JFC but as the fine print on the bottom says, subject to change closer to release......

i guess TMCA is not going to announce anything official until June so i'm open to any information or leaks. thanks Netrosis.

ps. you can option the leather steering wheel and gear knob for the JDM G.

Nardi330 04-15-2012 09:26 PM

but then this article says it will undercut the Golf GTI. which means below 39k + ORC.....

armythug 04-15-2012 10:01 PM

Damn this buildup is killin me. Heheh. Release the car already. Jeez. all of this speculation is crazy. And it does not help that we don't even have a solid price already. :sigh:

dimik252 04-15-2012 10:38 PM

I know its speculation but I was at Toyota on Saturday (funny enough buying a WRX).

I asked the head sales rep for 86 pricing and he said he didn't know.

When I told a normal rep that I was tossing up between a 86 because its cheaper he laughed and said you wont get one for under 40k - base.(Don't know if he was saying that to make me buy the WRX but IMO there was a hint of truth behind what he said) Then I continued to mentioned a article which was also posted up on here about undercutting the golf and he said he hope Toyota does will make his job easier.

Subaru dealership was next door and I went in to ask about the BRZ but same story they didnt know pricing.

let me know if it to speculative for this thread :P

Gir 04-15-2012 10:53 PM

The receipt for my preorder says "86 GT" on it, and the info came straight out of the order system.

Toy Aus couldnt change much of that spec sheet anyway, could they Netrosis, maybe colours and trim but the rest is set from the factory yeah!

is the rest of that brochure correct to your knowledge Netrosis?

If dealers were/are allowed to take pre-orders of their initial stock they, how do they know what they were ordering. Just a GT and GTS that's it??

Dont tell me it was/is totally blind?

Dont tell me the dealers had no idea of final spec when ordering?

How could anyone seriously lay down a deposit in this fashion. I bet the dealers are loving that.

Low spec. Couldn't justify the high spec at the time.

Thanks.

Sorry about the crappy quality, my scanner is stupid so I had to take a photo.

Staticfrost 04-16-2012 07:25 AM

Wonder what B Grade means.

A00 batch meaning... no batch yet I am guessing.

They don't even know where to ship ya car yet :D

The pre order should be fully refundable subject to final pricing and test drive. That's why it's a pre order and not an actual order.

sho 04-16-2012 07:49 AM

I am puzzled... the salesman told me that he couldn't give me an actual receipt as they don't have the car codes yet etc and so he only gave me one of those booklet receipt saying that the dealership has received 500 from me... Am I the only one who hasn't got an actual receipt from the dealer? =\

Nardi330 04-16-2012 08:38 AM

I had a hand written contract as 86 wasn't on the computer system when I placed my deposit. I was also given a printed receipt for the deposit I gave.

Mine fully refundable if I don't like the final price, and I can change my trim level anytime up until production month.

You can add these rumours Netrosis.

Just a random look around this morning and i spotted these q's in the Canada section and thought some aussie might be interested.

Q - Swapability of headlights with GT86 or BR-Z ?

A - Easy swap from one to the other, plug and play, modders have been working on aftermarket headlights based on the prototypes, make sure that buying an aftermarket one that the Sherlock code (if it has been engraved) doesn't identify it as a stolen part if you buy headlight assembly on craigslist.
Q - How wide can I go in the back without rolling the Fenders ?

A - 10' no issue

nice !! thanks for the info. how wide can you go in the front without rolling fenders? would 9.5 +38 be ok?

Ballsak2nv 04-19-2012 04:40 AM

Possible but until we see a car i guess we cant tell, some of those yanks have been measuring stuff, perhaps they know.

Varvs 04-19-2012 08:04 AM

I have trouble believing you'll fit 10" on the rear, let alone 10'..

70NYD 04-19-2012 08:56 AM

Well the fenders are rolled from factory, and there seems to be pleanty of room in the tubs as well from pics, so 10" might fit with a right ofset.

Ballsak2nv 04-19-2012 09:51 PM

You can fit 10" :bellyroll: that's what she said pmsl

10" rim do look feasible thou, considering they already get 7" in there.

PuGZoR 04-21-2012 07:33 PM

Talked with a dealer yesterday (yeah, I know, not so credible) and he said they were expecting demos in June, with deliveries starting in July. He thought that they'll keep pricing embargo'd right up until the release, too. He did say that they'd received no word on pricing though, but they were guessing at the dealership that it'd be 42k for the base model and 50k for the higher.

Nardi330 04-21-2012 08:38 PM

^ and which dealer is this one? Thx

pr0j 04-21-2012 08:47 PM

8k difference? :/
