Project Smooth whiteout

Decided ill start a thread about this.

Im currently trying to make my car look as sleek and clean as possible, and this made me come to a conclusion that i MUST get rid of some useless things on the car.

Two main things that i realized had to go where the side markers and the ugly antenna. People usually slap on Clear side markers and a shark fin antenna but both failed impress me. Paint matching side markers is a big thing with USDM spec euro cars, for ex benz's with the crappy orange on their bumpers or beamers;people usually paint those. Regarding the antenna i knew i wanted to delete it ( Thanks to @SLICVIC) and get a super clean roof without wrapping it black which i hate on white cars, or filling up(welding) the whole and painting my car.

So here is what i have and ill update with pictures once stuff is one the car

How much was it to get the sidemarkers paint matched? That's gorgeous, I would love to do that.

contact F-T, i recommend paint matching a USDM set ( orange) because they are flat ;)

i haven't done it yet because im lazy and cant be bothered to pull off the headliner atm

suaveflooder 10-27-2013 05:25 PM

so, by deleting the antenna, are you just giving up on radio? Just using blue tooth and CD's?

Nice. I think it's gonna look good:thumbsup:

If you were going to color match the markers, why not sand down the raised numbers/letters before paint?

because i had a shop do it and i didn't even send them instructions( via pm ). I just told them do it and they did a good job. i was annoyed by it, but once they're on the car you cant even notice them

They seem pretty noticeable in the picture you posted.

Ah well. :iono:

:sigh: can't please em all I guess. I'm happy with them and that's what matter, but I truly respect your opinion.

In person ( mounted on the car) nobody realized the lettering, but if you go and stick your face to it it's going to show obiuvsly

That is what matters.

My auto-ocd would drive me crazy. lol.

It's all good man.

I had color matched sidemarkers on my previous car. Made a world of difference. Sucks that the sidemarkers on this car can't be shaved completely.

brz_star21 10-28-2013 06:36 AM

IND does this idea in the BMW circles for the M5 and such. Great idea if done correctly.

The only bad part about our side marker is that it tends to pop out occasionally, especially if messed with. Those little metal tabs aren't secured on very well. Just a bad overall design and placement on Toyota's part.

Hardly hating. If you take it that way, you should reconsider posting stuff on the internet that people will voice their opinion on.

At the end of the day, it's your car and if you're happy with the way the sidemarkers look, that's all that matters.

If it was my car, I would feel like that job was done only halfway, or half-ass because the raised numbers/letters weren't sanded down.

I had color matched sidemarkers on my previous car and made sure I did the same.

Take it for what it's worth.

Good day, sir.

SLICVIC 10-31-2013 05:16 PM

hahaha he was serious^

he prolly locks and unlocks the door 13 times at night before he goes to bed, turns the light on and off 13 times

KI_ZN6 10-31-2013 05:24 PM

Looks good, liking the side marker color-matched. I see alot of Bimmers do this mod =)

Clean ride btw!

Ammonia 10-31-2013 05:24 PM

Man you guys are ****s. He offered his polite opinion, OP and slicvic, you guys need to chill.

On topic:

How do you plan on filling the antenna hole without vinyl or welding a piece up there?

lol, yeah. I didn't think I was being a **** about it at all actually.

Post your car on the internet.
People point out something about said car that can clearly be improved on.
Call them haters.

http://pepijndevos.nl/images/mind-blown.gif

It's not even something subjective at this point.

The fact is that raised numbers/letters on a sidemarker that were left unsanded before paint show a lack of prep before paint. Not sure how anyone can argue that.

To each his own and all bro, but note to self about what not to do to these cars... slamming them without at least a wide-body kit. Not that it looks bad per se, just... odd.

On topic though: the sidemarkers look really great. Nice flow. :w00t:

Thanks :). If you are going to consider it, do it to a usdm set ( the orange) because the clear ones have a huge bump on them which kills the point of it imho
