Leg Intake funnel, MOR LOUD

hey club ftttttttttttttt 86.

I got my shipped from Japan parts. only took about a month :mad0259:

ill post the stuffs i gots, the one i installed today was the LEG hyper intake.

the intakes louder, tho i also installed the trd filter so that may be helping, but it is like 50% louder so yea. I also, cut about 10 of the triangle things in my bumper grill for the whole mouth to be exposed, ill take pics 2m coz its dark now. I also feel more power

Edit: this was very light, i didnt weigh it, but id have to guess under 3 lbs. Its made out of fiber glass, not plastic. The car does feel faster also, tho i did the jdm trd filter swap too

yes, ill post a pic tomorrow, you can see the bottom opening through the bumper grill

Wasabi 10-20-2013 04:24 AM

I foresee a potential inhalation of water.

Rayme 10-20-2013 09:01 AM

You might as well remove that gold resonator box if you want moar loud

Kakawate 10-20-2013 01:57 PM

japanparts.com wait is long........ also their "point system" is bs. i spent $1600 usd, and they gave me $1.20 usd in credit.

Kakawate 10-20-2013 03:06 PM

Woah hope you got more than a intake duct lol. I like japanparts online store haven't made any purchases yet but was considering the syms cf intake setup from them. I am trying to get the sard carbon I take tube from rakuten.com right now but that is a serious importing process. Looks good bro. Evasive motorsports has a kit from a company called. Zeek that looks real nice too. Thanks for the info autoCAR

Kostamojen 10-20-2013 10:00 PM

Coool... although looking at that, I think it can be replicated with sheet metal rather easily.

true. u can make it very easily if your nice with fabricating thin aluminum. Also if you want to just make everything at normal angles, this would be a cake for a decent fabricator. My guess would be it be heavier tho.

ft86me 10-21-2013 12:02 AM

I like it and would consider it w my vortech kit but I'm worried about water and if it'd cover some area of the top of the intercooler

Turdinator 10-21-2013 08:33 AM

That's a huge opening. I'm liking the variety of ducts now available. Was the $1600 for the duct alone?

nooo this duct was about $250. I got a bunch of other stuff too off japanparts

*KID* 10-21-2013 02:21 PM

This leg duct is 326.91 shipped
Zeek Fiberglass 314.61 shipped
HKS 216.50 shipped

Honestly I'm digging the hks one the most since the opening looks larger and it wouldnt get in the way of my vortech intercooler

*KID* 10-21-2013 02:51 PM

Yea I was noticing the Leg one is real thin, the Zeek is slightly bigger and HKS is wide open

Kakawate 10-21-2013 02:57 PM

I got the zeek kit on the way. I will do a dyno and write up for it. It looks very nice behind the grill can't wait to see some vids of the sound it creates! Are you planning on changing the tube from the throttle body to the airbox?

*KID* 10-21-2013 04:27 PM

Yea it will look great through the bumper grill. Add a oil cooler and now were talking lol. Cant wait to order mine just need reviews

I doubt it would affect your intercooler efficiency much if at all. I like that this takes fresh air straight from the open grill while the HKS is from up in the bumper. In reality I doubt that changes the driving experience much but I still prefer it.

mashal 10-21-2013 11:57 PM

All the bugs that would end up in the rad would not glue themselves to that.. You would have to use a power washer to get them off and that would make its way up top.. Not a lot of it but that one asshole water droplet would

zooki 10-22-2013 01:11 AM

So anybody got a stock snorkel I can have to do a few tests on?

I got one but I wanna keep it incase I ever sell the car, n wanna turn it back to stock

autoCAR 10-25-2013 12:50 AM

hks just came out w a new funnel/snorkel/pre air filter system, but this ones unique in that it comes with essentially a radiator shroud to direct air into the funnel. Check out the pics at Japan parts,

edit: price is bonkers tho, almost $600

this is a tuning company called Kansei. different tuning branch not an actual HKS part. this is made of carbon and blocks off all outside and engine heat. looks to be the real deal but pretty expensive. i feel that anyone with some fiberglass know-how could make the block off plates and save a few hundred bucks.

Dr. BRZ 10-27-2013 04:26 PM

bump.

Spare yourself the dyno because these parts are not made for typical dyno conditions. I can speak from direct racing experience that these "ram air" type ducts are amazing and work wonders for the car IN THE CONDITIONS IT WAS MEANT TO BE USED. That is the key point. This is a circuit machine and those ducts work at speed. Above 60ish and above 5K rpm's you will know what i am saying. U cant truely dyno this without proper wind tunnel, but drive car the way i said and u will feel it.

I know this ram air style induction setup is much more for tracking the car due to airbox restricted classes and not gains on the dyno but I am keeping a strict record of upgrades and power gains.

@autoCAR where did you get your beatrush stuff from?

You would need to drive through a few feet of water to pose a problem. At that point you should have bought a jet ski! :)

Dr. BRZ 01-17-2014 08:20 PM

not saying your wrong but i ordered this for my BRZ and i am not aware of any cutting of the bumper. just checked japanparts website too, and i dont see anything :iono:

Dr. BRZ 01-19-2014 01:55 PM

@DAN_BRZ, if you search air element and scroll down to it, at the bottom it says "BRZ owner needs to cut bumper for this item to install." thats the only thing thats holding me back from ordering this.

BlueridgeBRZ 12-04-2020 06:37 AM

Ever figure out if Legsport fits brz?
