Yes or No to rear diffuser.
Hi guys just wondering who prefers the rear diffuser on or off I am torn and can't decide what I like more.
|
the OEM diffuser?
|
Love it. Completely finishes the rear end in my opinion.
|
OEM is just a lower rear fascia garnish, not a true diffuser.
|
I have the rear diffuser and I love it . It covers the factory
muffler somewhat and hides the skinny tires as well. Go for it! |
I really don't like them. They look cheesy and remind me of the old Adam West Batmobile.

Happy with mine. i wanted something non-functional and cheesy, plus I love the old Batmobile from the TV series, so it was exactly what i was looking for!
Oh, this is the OEM knock-off, too. |
If you do a diffuser, don't half-ass it with the OEM cover up piece... Get a REAL diffuser. One that works.
I spent some time and made my own, fully- functioning one for $100. Give or take some rivets. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5461/1...d5a22bed_z.jpg |

This is more what I was thinking: http://frs-tuner.skipthediet.com/wp-...n_FRS_GT_4.jpg http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DJE-RkHLNq...tomagz+(2).jpg To each their own. If I saw someone going down the road with that, I'd probably think it was cool. But wouldn't do it myself. |

I like it, got the after market one and have to agree, it just gives it a finished look.

i was thinking about getting one too, but the ones most people have installed are just plastic, non-functional ones, which is what i want. i feel like it would look great with the JDM exhaust tips + diffuser combo
and how is the install on those non-functional ones? |
I just bought the cosmetic OEM style.
The driveway labs style diffuser, while functional, does indeed look like @ss and reminiscent of an Adam West batmobile type rear end and most definitely "because race car". |

Mine reminds me of the back to the future car at times. But I LOVE it and the hassle of creating a dual center-exhaust. But yeah, I say go for anything DIY! I've done a few diffusers for friend's cars. I try to keep to the boring fundamentals of angles/etc, but try to be creative with styling/flowing with the car. One friend had me replicate the WRC diffuser on GD Rally cars... That was a pain in the butt, but totally worth it! I wish I could personally own a wind tunnel... |

Personally I want something that doesn't stick out so much, but it doesn't look ghetto, I just know my car isn't a full time race car so I'd rather something more subtle. |

Point was that I didn't install this to look pretty. I installed it because it should lower my lap times around a road course by a measurable amount of time by decreasing drag, removing all the lift the car generates stock and making ~20 lbs of downforce on top of that at 100mph; improving grip from the rear tires. Funny though, I've only ever received compliments about how it looks it in person. Not everyone's taste, I guess. |
