If you could add 1 thing to your FRS/BRZ/86 what would it be?

This is not a "what do you hate about" or a "what did you do with" thread, this is simply a question relation to the single modification or change you would like to see to your car that brings it one step closer to perfection :)

I am sure many will say POWER or TORQUE, but remember you can only identify one thing (in this case though you will obviously get a little of the other)

Many upgrades are easily available like better tyres, wider wheels, an armrest, better sound system, cup holders, power and torque etc, but there are other things that are not so easily upgradeable.

For me it is the sound of the FA20, I am not a fan and a new exhaust and headers are not the answer :( Now if I could make one change to the car it would be for it to have a really nice engine note/sound....I love the sound of an Alfa V6 for example  and would consider myself eventually (not just yet, enjoying the handling/feel too much) giving up the many wonderful things the car offers for a nicer engine note and a little comfort (provided I don't have to give up too much re driver involvement) :bonk:

What is the one upgrade or change that you would make to your car?

Muskokan 10-13-2013 06:38 AM

after plugging the sound tube and realizing how quiet this car actually is, ive been aching for an exhaust with a louder, lower tone. winter on its way now though, so i think im waiting till spring.

MrGamer 10-13-2013 07:00 AM

A better sound system atleast in my case that is. My BRZ has okay sound quality but it definitely needs a better sound system in the future :)

An infinite amount of driving skills to the driver.

Hatchback

boxer 2.5 10-13-2013 08:00 AM

I'd add a nice brake kit. So much fade...

Agreed. I don't want to replace them (replacing speakers never seems to be easy), but eventually I will. They just aren't good enough.

bestwheelbase 10-13-2013 08:25 AM

Hatchback. If this car was a 3door shooting-brake it would be my favorite thing ever and I would have already purchased one.

Byebye 10-13-2013 08:48 AM

"Oh sh*t" handles.

I have the touch screen but not BeSpoke. The system sounds really good but could use a subwoofer.

BlueDubbinTDI 10-13-2013 08:58 AM

100whp
Edit: ok if I can't do power then probably 18s standard or less wheel gap stock. Or Xenons standard.

Suberman 10-13-2013 10:06 AM

500 cc by increasing the bores.

I'd get 16's if they wouldn't destroy my brake options.

tennisfreak 10-13-2013 10:58 AM

Supercharger. (I know its technically more than 1 part but I count the kit as 1upgrade)

Braces 10-13-2013 11:33 AM

Original name Toyota GT86 instead of Scion.

Charlize?

kodyo 10-13-2013 12:40 PM

A god d*%m armrest. I shouldn't have to pay $200 for a good armrest that matches the car.

thill 10-13-2013 12:54 PM

Power! Another 40hp and 40ft lbs or torque would be perfect.

I replaced my stock speakers and added an amp and subwoofer and it made a huge difference. Just under $1k installed by pros.

DCStorm 10-13-2013 01:18 PM

GT86 headlights standard for FRS

That bitch on your signature is ugly, i think I've seen her before on some mag's. Nuts.

Oh yeah, the topic.

I'd choose adjustable rears.

finch1750 10-13-2013 01:23 PM

Shooting brake. (W/ oh s$+! Handles, lol)

Prog 10-13-2013 01:46 PM

I love the rooflines, but I still miss my sunroof.

batmobilefrs 10-13-2013 01:48 PM

I would want different wheels/tires even, the fact that the tires are the same ones come off the high end prius bothers me. It does make taking the back end out around corners easier, but i prefer grip.

AVodka14 10-13-2013 02:21 PM

HVAC or BRZ headlights.

I think they could have easily made a sunroof with glass molded to follow the roof lines. How cool would that be?

Luis_GT 10-13-2013 02:45 PM

Tires are consumables, so I'm always going to have to changethem at some point... so scratch that.

I have OEM Bi-Xenons, so scratch that.

I have the HVAC, so scratch that.

I guess I would like to have at least 215WHP and since HP = Torque X revs/5252, it would mean Torque would also increase as well. :D

Nevermore 10-13-2013 03:26 PM

Heated side-view mirrors. Never realized just how nice a feature this is on my Mazda (a model from 2000 no less) until I got this car without them. You really need the mirrors in this car, frost and moisture render them useless.

Good catch.

I'd increase the stroke of the engine. I know someone already said 500 cc's but I'd definatly take that. a 2.5 (hell why not 2.6) Liter engine and I'd be happy with it. I guess this just means that this engine will be stroked one day like most of my other cars are going to be (3000gt 6g74 stroked to 3.8, Eclispse GSX 4g63 stroked to 2.3) the starion (2.6L) can't be stroked lol... I think. and if I ever get a Supra... Ya that'd probably get stroked too lol.

The problem with a stroked engine is that the rev range has to be lowered due to the increase travel of the pistons

bkblitzed 10-13-2013 05:47 PM

better brakes

The FR-S has heated side mirrors... in Canada, anyway. I'd bet most Canadian owners don't even know they have the feature. Previous cars I have owned had the heated mirror symbol on the mirrors or dash controls. This car doesn't.

If it makes Americans feel any better, we don't get the first aid kit.

I'd go for more power either as a turbo or an extra 500 CC's displacement. Never had a turbo car before, but a lot of people seem to believe NA is better for overall responsiveness, but not necessarily fuel economy. Fuel economy rules these. Days so maybe a 2 stage turbo then.

It's only in Canada. No heated mirrors here. And I'd rather have the mirrors than the first aid kit. It'll never get used. Which I guess will be a selling point in 50 years. "Look, this one has the original first aid kit, you almost never find these old cars with that. Quite the find!"

PR FR-S don't have heated mirrors (not like we need them) or the first aid kit...

Couldn't afford it. My dad works for Toyota and my lease is a benefit of his, only Toyota/Lexus/Scion can be ordered that way.

This is true but a brake kit isn't expensive nor impossible to self install do it

bkblitzed 10-13-2013 09:35 PM

actually instead of brakes i want an oil cooler

Tien 10-14-2013 02:39 AM

Going to add exhuast for better sound, for a little more power, and save weight.
