I got a letter from my dealer today saying my BRZ has a VIN and is getting loaded onto a boat in Japan. I was also told though that it won't be released from port until mid-June though. But at least some light at the end of the tunnel.

Anybody else get their VIN?

Note: x'd out the last 2 digits of the VIN.

mid june seems a bit late, but it looks like you're from canada. i believe the US release date is closer to mid may.

Am i the only one that heard late April?

Yeah, I was told quite a while back that Canadians wouldn't get theirs until late June or July so I was expecting it. Sad but I figure the biggest news is that if my delayed Canadian one is making its way onto a boat that a bunch of American ones will too.

For some reason I figured these boats loaded with BRZ's leaving Japan at 09:00 on April 20th. :P Travel safely BRZ's!

I may have received a VON.

This is great news! I'm not sure why Canadian have their cars sit at port until June??? But if they are already loading NA market cars onto boats, then the US might actually start getting cars by late April already.

There were conflicting articles.. some said that shipments would begin April 20th and others said actual sales would be begin April 20th. I suspect both are incorrect, but the news that your car is on a boat already means that shipments have started sooner than April 20th.. so that is really nice!

Being a Canadian my dealer wasn't able to place my order until March 12 so I would take that as meaning everybody who had a car ordered before then should hopefully have their car on the way soon.

Congrats! This leads me to believe that my source might have been on to something. He said that in CA the dealers will be taking delivery of the vehicles by late April. Now I'm not sure if that means we will be able to purchase in late April, but that's what I was told.

Weird, just noticed that in my first post it's 3287xx and 3279xx. I was told though that 2 SWP were coming in though and I would get whichever came first so as long as 1 comes in... meh. :)

I called SOA just now, I have an order date of 3/2/12 and mine doesn't yet have a VIN assigned to it.

The Snow Gods smile down upon me? No clue. But I'm expecting a lot of people getting their VIN's soon. My dealer has been really good with filling me in as soon as there's information available right from the start.

Pretty morbid considering the loss of life but lets hope 2012 is earthquake and tsunami-free as well.

Called SoA for an update on my VON, it's still on the wait list. You bastard.

What? how are they updating you if you dont even know the price of the car let alone paid for it!?

My dealer updated me on the order placement that was made March, 20th.
Sent me a pdf file of the order sheet containing my BRZ.

I pre-ordered back in February but my dealer wasn't able to put my order in until March 12.

And I don't have any answers for people. Maybe my dealer is just a real go-getter in regards to information. I bet you there are a shit-ton of cars ready to be shipped already.

Funny (well, funny for you guys, not funny for me) thing is it will still be June at the earliest by the time I get my car. Dealer thinks it will probably be between the 18th and 22nd of June when I get it. Assuming it leaves port mid-month.

Because I have first right of refusal. The car is mine unless I turn it away.

your dealer can't get ANY more info out of SOA than you or I can by calling with a VON,

I have a feeling they are building based on color and option combos in lots.

Tried to get insurance rates based on VIN #. Couldn't. They wouldn't even take my VIN #. ICBC (province-wide insurance) has no 2013 Subaru's in their system yet apparently.

Dealer said another white was coming too. Didn't ask him about other colours. Will do that later today/tomorrow. Don't want to harass the poor guy.

Uh, this wasn't earthquake/tsunami related. :) It's about a cargo ship hitting rough seas, and a bunch of cars being shipped that were pretty much totaled. Seems to have happened multiple times in recent years, and after all of the anticipation around this car it would be oddly funny if that were to happen (in a funny/crappy kind of way of course).

But I concur on the tsunami stuff - makes a damaged BRZ seem pretty insignificant.

Oh, I know. The BMW thing happened years ago. I just meant "On a different note, and this is a morbid thought... But..." and then my comment. :P Sorry for the confusion!
