Roads/Routes to Drive your BRZ/FR-s - SoCal

So, i noticed the NorCal guys had their own thread for roads/routes to drive on. Anyone have any good roads they would suggest or have driven on in the SoCal area that you plan driving your future FRS/BRZ on?

Only ones I know of are:

- Turnbull Canyon Road (Whittier/Hacienda Heights)
- Glendora Mountain Road (Glendora)
- Malibu Canyon Road (Malibu)

All of those are cop infested, but fun :)

I know quite a few roads in the SD area too, but you pretty much summed up LA/OC.

There's also Angeles Crest Highway.

Happy to see a socal one started :w00t:. I'm around the area once in a while when visiting friends. I've driven around the Santiago Canyon Rd. when I was in Irvine last summer, really fun road. Somebody posted a nice route that chained it with the PCH here:

Also, found this: http://www.motorcycleroads.us/states/ca.html

Angels' crest is cop-fested.

There's a rather easy one in San Juan Capistrano (Ortega).

Azuza at night + detector

And there's one more I can't seem to remember... :l

Wide roads wide turns!

Thanks for the thread!

I know Malibu is cop infested, but I still enjoy a cruise up PCH now and then. Just can't beat the ocean view! Just north of Malibu and just south of Oxnard is a great area to open her up too.

I live really close to Turnbull so I'll probably go there first. I don't care for it too much, because it's too narrow and there are just too many blind turns for me, but I guess that's the point?

I'm just not 18 anymore and know what fear is now...

I would love to go to a meet from like Elsinore to Dana Point. Heck, I'll go by myself once I get the car, lol.

Trabuco canyon (Irvine Lake/Cooks Corner) w/ Madjeska Canyon

dookie11 04-12-2012 02:47 PM

How about we just all be hardcore and drive in a BRZ caravan down Crenshaw? Talk about hardkeezy fo sheezy!

mufasis 04-18-2012 02:42 PM

I vote Malibu, or possibly going up to Ojai and there is the sickest road EVER in the valley, look it up, 245....^_^

I agree with the road to ojai. Or, that windy road I took once for work from LA to Fillmore(near magic mountain). It was very windy (wine-dee) though, so you could only go like 40mph tops before it got hella scary.!

Prava 04-23-2012 06:30 AM

Decker (Malibu)
Mullholland
Box Canyon (Simi)

takchi 04-23-2012 12:55 PM

Palomar Mountain is a famous one. Also cop infested most of the time...

There is one near my place, but I will not mention even though it could be well known. People crash there too often so I prefer not to have more attention to that road. :p

Toyarzee 03-23-2014 12:01 PM

Liking this thread! :thanks:

The drive up the 330/18 to bear mountain can be pretty fun, not as many cops on non winter or tourist event days.

I like to bounce between Mulholland and PCH. I've posted this in another thread, but these are some pretty well known roads, so keep an eye out for the authorities!

Mulholland -> Stunt Rd -> Saddle Peak Rd -> La Tuna Cyn -> PCH -> Las Flores Cyn -> Rambla Pacifico St -> Piuma Rd -> Las Virgines Rd -> Mulholland (up the snake) -> Kanan -> Latigo Cyn -> PCH -> Decker Cyn -> Mulholland (back down the snake).

If you have enough energy and gas, do it again! Some great views overlooking the ocean and surrounding area. Lot's of people like to hang out at the top of the snake and there's a good chance you'll run into Jay Leno up there with some rare machinery on the weekends.

Go with friends, take breaks, NEVER cross double yellow, be careful/mindful of residents, have FUN and be SAFE. See you guys out there.

Tony

There is a short canyon course on the borders of Chino Hills and Brea that is called Carbon Canyon Road...it's short, but fun nonetheless...! Not as cop-infested as GMR or Angeles Crest...

it is a short fun road with 2 hairpin turns. too bad there are always slow cars blocking the road there.

That's San Fran squito canyon or boque cyn, little spunky canyon then connects the two and you can loop back. Fun roads, minimal pigs.

Stunts one of my favs tho!

If people are scared of cops just drive after dark, but look out for deer! I pegged one in my buddies truck :/ truck was ok. Deer was wasted! Me +1 deer 0
