OpenFlash Tablet Stage 1 v1.2 maps available for download

Yes, they are free. And you can download them HERE

What's new:

10/03/13
v1.2 Changes:
-Revised VVT mapping for enhanced knock resistance in the 2500-3500rpm range at partial throttle.
-Added 6AT USDM ROM support for ZA1J700D, ZA1J900D and ZA1JA01D. ZA1JA00D will be added once we receive a copy of the ROM from a customer.
-Added XDF file for 6AT ROM (ZA1J___D v1.0beta.xdf). As the name of the file suggests, it isn't complete. Many of the table X and Y axises aren't define yet. To determine X and Y axis values when tuning, you can look at the 6MT XDF (ZA1J___C v2.4.xdf) for reference.
-Added parameters for Front o2 sensor scaling A and B to both the supplied XDF files.
-Added stock tune ROM file in each ROM folder. This is useful for comparison purposes (i.e., comparing stock mapping to the mapping in our OTS tune files). Please not that this is not necessarily the stock ROM.

PS. Stage 2 is coming soon :)

nguyen_er 10-09-2013 04:51 PM

woot woot. gonna reflash it now!

jvincent 10-09-2013 04:58 PM

Cool. Would it be possible to include a dyno plot in either the zip file or in this thread.

reardrv 10-09-2013 05:46 PM

From the sounds of it, you won't see a difference on the dyno. More of a refinement of the current map.

I can't believe no one asked about this. What changes make it stage 2?
Is this one for FI specifically or does it have more goodies for the NA guys?

No one asked because he already answered that question in another thread:

Ah I want one of these so bad now, looks like great development. I'm still a little hesitant about keeping my warranty (can the dealer see how many times the ECU has been flashed?)

It's very unlikely that the dealership can detect the number of flashes. I think this rumor comes from a misunderstanding. Namely how with each software update, the calibration ID increments up by 1. That doesn't effect what you are concerned with because the OpenFlash Tablet saves your original rom file which means that you can load it back into the ecu prior to dealership visit, restoring your original calibration ID.

Hey Shiv,

my purchase of this product is also resting on the concept that the dealer can or cannot detect their has been a tune.. Notice how I said "dealer" .. because I doubt they are going to ship the engine back to Japan to do further forensics.. in any event, I heard that the dealer "can" detect the date (not the number of times its been flashed).

So , you reflash it back to stock and you reset the number of times its been flashed to zero.. awesome.. but what about the date its been flashed? can you convince me I should be safe?

thanks

Boofneenee 10-10-2013 08:53 PM

also Shiv,.. do you have maps available for people who have the nameless OP/downpipe full exhaust combo? I know you have stock tunes and your working on intakes of some sort.. just curious as to how ytour coming along with exhausts

thanks

Just say you took it to another dealer and play dumb.

Okay so.. I just download this rom, buy a cable/software from you guys and reflash my car?

I live in Australia, I'm wondering if these parameters are safe to use for my ft86 straight out of the box?? I intend to drive it for a little bit before taking it to a dyno and getting it ffine tuned for my environment.

Can you confirm that the OFT also correctly sets the Verification Number identical to stock when returning to the stock calibration? I know that's one way Subaru can tell if the ECM has been flashed if the CID and CVN don't match.

The ECM does not record number of flashes. At least not accessible at a dealer level. It does record mileage since DTC clear, time since DTC clear, and key cycles since reflash. So if the dealer has a reason to suspect the car was modified, they will probably look at those.

MarcusM117 10-11-2013 03:06 PM

Shiv, do you have any future plans for Stage 1 or is 1.2 considered complete?

jeebus 10-11-2013 09:36 PM

Nothing illegal or warranty voiding about clearing DTCs

Unless you have a header, the stg 1 tunes should be a fine starting point for those with exhaust mods. Headers change the VVT requirements dramatically, the rest of the system with the stock header in place just reduces back pressure and allows for more aggressive timing.

Shiv, can you confirm on this?

Kodename47 10-12-2013 02:05 AM

@zc06_kisstherain what @mad_sb said is correct. I wouldn't try adding timing until you can log to test it though.

Shiv@Openflash 10-12-2013 03:14 AM

Hi guys,
I Palm Springs this weekend for a wedding so I have limited access to the Internet and no access to my laptop. But I did manage to finish the Stage 2 map before leaving town. It is for use in cars with catless headers. You can safely run our Stage 1 map for such a with headers. It will still pick up good power. Where Stage 2 differs from Stage 1 is that it runs a more generous fuel table (to compensate for improved airflow) and run a bit more timing. It's more ~5whp more power at 7000rpm. But another 6-8whp all through the midrange which is good. It is currently being tested by a few people. When it gets greenlit, I'll post it up publicly :)

does this new xdf file fix the launch control, no start issue? i noticed its at a different rpm

Nope, I'm using 1.2 and suffer the same no start issue.

YMAA 10-13-2013 06:21 PM

Just got the 1.2 update flashed today (was using 1.0 previously). Went for a semi-spirited drive after the flash and while the butt dyno doesn't notice much change over 1.0 while driving, the car definitely does idle smoother.

On a somewhat unrelated note, do you have of intakes in mind that will eventually have a tune written for them? I'm interested in an FA20Club CAI at some point in the future and would love to see a tune for one.

Thanks for providing the updates!

Can't wait to see the results! I installed a catless header a few days ago and it just started throwing a CEL so I think I need a tune soon:thumbsup:

Anxiously awaiting the stage 2 map after installing a catless header this weekenk. Thanks for the updates!

dude.. the OFT tablet is advertised as being untraceable at least at the dealer level. Their is tons of discussion from Shiv stating so and you can find more posted on their website. Shiv and OFT should expect and not be upset when warranty cautious consumers such as myself ask him to spend a little time discussing and putting my mind to rest. If they are going to take my money and advertise so then I except a reasonable answer without attitude back.

having said that, apart from some witty Shiv comments like "we are not in the business of cheating the dealers and only in the business of putting forth a great product" i felt I got the answers I needed to make my purchase.
