I thought there was suppose to be a re-badge of the back and knee pads?
Do you know if it is possible to get a AHA upgrade for the 2013's?

DaJo 10-07-2013 05:18 PM

Looks like they changed the badge on the steering wheel.

The 2013 models have a plain blue painted emblem while this one looks to have the blue gradient.

I though so too looking at it at first but I think its a reflection off the plastic on the passenger seat making it look like it's got a blue tint. also mine is black never blue.

HeubergerMotors 10-07-2013 06:16 PM

No changes, other than AHA infotainment. I don't think we can upgrade the Navi, unless possible with the new nav chip... but I think it's actually in the actual hardware of the navi.

Am I the only one that thought Clint was posting the first pics of a 2014 car that got hit?

No, I was blown away when I saw the title. I was looking at the first pic trying to see if the front bumper was damaged.

Of course. How else would you be able to tell apart a FA20 from any other car with your eyes closed. Thats the FA20's signature, distinct.

The crickets have nothing to do with the engine. It is the high pressure fuel pump that causes the crickets.

What was the model number on the head unit? Wondering if it's the same as the Canadian model?

ihaskrayon 10-08-2013 04:49 PM

The 2014 FR-S has knee pads. Wierd.

Also, as said before, my badge in my steering wheel is black, not blue

Take a MUCH closer look. It's actually blue. I thought it was black too, until I took a picture if the emblem with the flash on my camera. The flash will reflect the blue.

Try it! :)

Is the new AHA navigation unit any better than the outgoing model?

BRZPDX 10-09-2013 12:49 AM

Rebadged in a different manner?

Chee-Hu 10-09-2013 12:14 PM

Awesome no changes! I wonder how disappointed those who waited are.

I'll tell you right now... very disappointed.
Atleast I can better justify the purchase of a new car now then I could last year.

I assumed so. How is it justified now? Please share your thoughts. The '14 cars are still experiencing the same "issues."

You'll also probably be paying more if you're dealing locally, at least while the 2014's are brand-spanking-new. My local dealer wouldn't negotiate on a 2014, but they were happy to negotiate on my 2013.

thanks for the vid.
funny, I see that they were showing the '14 *with* the OEM red-stitched knee pads, speaker surrounds at the shows...

chickdigger802 10-09-2013 02:11 PM

so the price bump from 13 is just for the aha?

Not that disappointed...? Wasn't expecting anything major (i.e., power increase, armrest, etc.); the rumored changes would have been nice, but I don't see anyone canceling their order for lack of knee pads... I, for one, was mostly looking for the extra year of resale value as well as having more time to save up $$$. Alas, others who were expecting more probably feel shitty enough without your salt on their wounds. Congrats, cool guy!

wonder why Clint's did not have them? I didn't think it was an option was I wrong?

I can only think of two possible reasons:

1) The early allocations don't get them, highly unlikely since they are already selling at the adjusted price, and MY14 Scion FR-S's have them

2) Last minute decision by SoA to not offer them

bdbx18 10-09-2013 06:17 PM

I have to say getting the center console knee pads was anti-climatic for me. In my preferred driving position, my knees are right at the edge of the pad. While there is a bit more padding, it is minimal at the edge where my knee likes to be. That said, it did offered *some* relief on my long daily commute for about $120.

That one looks like the JDM one, it has the JDM tips and not the NA tips on the exhaust, Plus that head unit looks terrible

Kwisak 10-09-2013 06:50 PM

Whats the plastic bumps below the headlights ??
