DFW Weekend Meet

1 Attachment(s)
Hey Everyone, OK i know some were interested in a weekly meet, so lets try out a bi-monthly meet (2nd and 4th weekend) just to test the waters. I've checked with Gas Monkey and it's gonna depend on how many we can get out there. So Lets get the idea turned into a set meet.

The Gravel looking area between the 2 lots is decent ( I drove my car all through there on Wednesday no problem, if we had to get over to Cowboys Parking Lot.) With Cowboys Closed on Sundays, this day seems to be the best option.

So with all this info, lets all meet up on Sunday, October 13th at 6pm. Post up on here so i can get an idea of how many people will/might be attending.

Who: FRS/BRZ/AE86 Owners

What: Weekend Meet

When: October 13, 2013 @ 6pm

Where: Gas Monkey Bar n Grill, 10261 Technology Blvd East, Dallas, TX 75220

I'll post the info at some dealerships in the Collin County Area, If everyone can pass the word at dealers, shops, anyone you see driving any 86 and I'll see y'all out there @ 6

NOTE: this will be a week from this Sunday

How was the meet?

Shneegle 10-14-2013 05:30 PM

Meet was good we had 8 cars out. One was from a stealership that wanted 43k for a Rocket Bunny Kitted FRS. Food was good. They have a no loitering policy in the parking lot so after a while we were told to leave.

No turbo. They're charging 2k for an evo3 exhaust, 8k for the rocket bunny, and some other ridiculous numbers for the wheels and other things.

Was it the white Pat Lobb car?

Yes it was the McKinney dealer that came out with it. The mark up on the parts was pretty crazy. Only stayed with us for like 30 to 45min. Seems like he was meeting a potential buyer that came to Gas Monkey to look at the car. Not positive on that tho.

Where were you Sir? The organizer of the meet never showed.

idario 10-15-2013 08:25 PM

Yeah dude, what happened? Oh well.
We did bring up the idea of a potluck for the next weekend meet. All I need is a head count and I'll make empanadas.

Joeprelude 10-15-2013 09:12 PM

Yeah, I fell asleep after work, didn't wake up until 3 am...

If we did that where would we go for it?

idario 10-15-2013 10:05 PM

I heard someone mention a garage of sorts as the venue with a fanfare of oldskool cars.

I really appreciate the feedback and had a good time meeting the few people I had a chance to while I was out. The guy that showed up is actually an activation manager for Scion and I am pushing for more events for everyone so stay tuned. If there is any place were I can get the parts and work done for less cost please let me know. Where is the cheapest place to get a rocket bunny kit and custom forgestar wheels?!?
Please let me know when the next meet up is I would like to bring some Scion stuff out!

Welcome to the Boards and congrats on the first post. It was nice to see a dealership that is willing to come out to these meets and participate. None of us were complaining about that. I thought that the car looked pretty awesome.

We all know how much the car costs and how much we can get most parts for. So lets look at the price on the Rocket Bunny kit, google search netted a price of about 3k from scionpro.com. Meaning that the dealership paid 5k in installation fee's? The weather striping that was put under the kit was unneeded (wasn't meant for it) and also it was put on with screws instead of rivets. So anyone with a screw driver and a little time could take it off the car. Then we have the Evo 3 Exhaust which is about $900(scionpro.com) meaning the installation price is $1100?? That's way off! Forgestar rims I didn't even look at the price listed on the sheet for it. But you can get a set of 18X9.5 for $1600 from a quick google search. Then tires and those have a good range of price depending on what you end up going with so I'm not gonna bother there.

Hence my use of "Stealership" as I personally think the price is outrageous. Do I think that someone will come along and purchase it cause of the way it looks? YES!

I did not mean to offend anyone with my remarks about the car or about dealerships at the meet if I did so. These are purely my views on the topic.
