First place I'm going in my FR-S

As you all may know I'm from the Seattle area, but the week after I pick up my FR-S, you will be seeing a bright red FR-S on Hwy 12, from Lewiston, Idaho to Missoula, Montana. Also known as the Lolo Pass route. This is probably some of the best mountain twisties anywhere. Around 60 straight miles of switchbacks/ hairpin turns :happyanim:

Whoa have fun!

SeattleBoy21 04-06-2012 09:12 PM

I've been waiting for a cheaper light weight sports car to do the pass on :D As much as I love my Mustang, and it's hell of a blast to drive with the V8, it would be absolutely sh*t on Lolo pass with a solid rear axle and the heavy beast it is. This FR-S is designed for a road like this. It's short (length), it's light. I'm amped.

sounds epic id be nice if you videoed your first canyon run in the FRS. Seeing as how you'd probably the first to run that pass in that particular car.

ZSwierczynski 04-06-2012 10:07 PM

I would love to do this trip too lol.

Rampage 04-06-2012 10:21 PM

For the eastern US, I am sure that The Tail of the Dragon (US129) will be seeing its share of FR-S/BRZs.

Have fun with your run and keep it on the black stuff!

Buggy51 04-06-2012 10:54 PM

... I was going to say go home >_>

PrimeMotoring 04-06-2012 11:03 PM

I will be taking a nice leisurely drive from the dealer to the lift at my shop :)

Zaneman 04-07-2012 12:51 AM

good luck with that. My grandparents drive it all the time. Be ready to follow behind old people who drive under the speed limit. But seriously I do love that road.

Haha, isn't that the worst. I don't mind when people drive the speed limit but when people drive substantially below it and you're unable to pass that really gets my goat.

BigFatFlip 04-07-2012 02:02 AM

Awesome. This car really speaks to what kind owners it will be having. I'm really hoping this forum becomes a great source for little sweet driving gems like this, with everybody sharing thier favorite little spots that anybody can enjoy.

Koomoo 04-07-2012 02:55 AM

I Hope i can join you in thoese Roads.... nothings more calming and relaxing then just driveing.... i'll be heading that way with my BRZ after i get my front end wrap :)

bestwheelbase 04-07-2012 03:15 AM

That would be a beautiful first drive. Great way to break the car in.

Enemies 04-07-2012 03:39 AM

I think that's closer to me than it is to you even though I'm in a different country. Never been to Idaho or Montana before. Might go to Idaho this summer for the kids because of some theme park or something. But I doubt I'll be taking the BRZ sadly because I don't think it'd be that comfortable for that long of a drive. :P

crx300x 04-07-2012 04:50 AM

Being from Montana, yes. Damn good fun in those passes. I drove the one from Great Falls (hometown) to Helena ALL THE TIME. Sucks at night but still fun. Ones out of the state are definitely better though. Have fun!

SkitterSkotter 04-07-2012 09:58 AM

The first place I'm going to go in this car are the awesome mountains all around Boulder, CO. It will be sweet to take that over Loveland Pass at 12,000 feet and hopefully find some snow to drift on. I also will be pumped to top this bad bitch out.

Highway 1 Big Sur Coast

russv 04-09-2012 12:10 PM

Drive it up to the Sierra Nevada foothills along Highway 20. Lots of sweeping curves.

track_warrior 04-09-2012 12:19 PM

My local track Harris Hill :)

bFreed 04-09-2012 02:53 PM

After I throw on some coilovers and stuff I'm gonna throw my bicycle in the trunk and head out to Skyline drive or something. Camp out/hit some bike trails?

Ah...

zygrene 04-09-2012 03:36 PM

Damn all of you and your mountain roads. Houston, TX is as flat as hell.

mandm177 04-09-2012 04:36 PM

might have to take a trip down to Austin and hit up Lime Creek Road...

Didn't know that road existed, and I live in Austin during the school year. :bonk: But this semester's my last at UT, and I'll be moving to California in July. Depending on when I get my car, I might not be able to really drive it until 1) I learn stickshift properly and 2) get out of Houston.

MF_DEUCE 04-10-2012 03:09 AM

From the dealership, I will clock in some time at ALL these spots...consecutively! :)
