ONE FREAKING WEEK!!!!

That's all it took for some retard to open their door into my car and put a ding in it!!!!! ONE FREAKING WEEK!!!! :mad0260:

Couldn't I have at least had a month to make the first payment before the honeymoon was over? Is That just too much to ask retards? :paddle:

Sucks for sure... Look on the bright side.. Now you got an almost perfect car which goes faster and dirt doesn't show as bad..
Sorry.. Don't mean to make light of it... But it's hell out there...

tzhu07 09-26-2013 04:31 PM

I'm so sorry to hear that. I just got my FR-S yesterday and I'm knocking on every piece of wood I see!

m.wood0213 09-26-2013 04:34 PM

happened to me except my first week involved rock chips on the hood close to the windshield and then about 2 weeks later someone door dinged me.

6speed_Sam 09-26-2013 04:37 PM

I know how you feel. The first week I had my car a rock or something flew up and dented my hood then bounced up and put a small chip in my windshield.

tacoss23 09-26-2013 04:42 PM

That's why I'm paranoid regarding where I park. Even there though, sometimes shit just happens, like fucking rock chips on the highway.

Kelbyat07 09-26-2013 04:44 PM

People are really careless I swear. I hope this doesn't happen to you anymore.

2nd week I got a scratch in the center of the hood presumably from a rock on the highway. Sucks, but that's really what happens to all cars unless you keep them in the garage only. They will get the paint dinged one way or another. I haven't had anyone ding my doors yet (Knocking on wood) and I park in a lot that has about 1 foot between cars. I have no idea how it hasn't happened yet. People must be super careful getting out of their cars there.

JOSI 09-26-2013 05:33 PM

A good PDR shop can have it out in a blink of an eye.

PB86SS 09-26-2013 06:05 PM

I'm crazy and decided to keep my old car, it's not worth anything but it's still reliable. You should see how many door dings the old girl has copped in 20+ years, people are so thoughtless. So now, guess which car goes to the shops? It's weird having to pick which car to take depending what's on the agenda each day - first world problems huh? :-)

First world problems indeed. Though that's really the smart way to do it. I did the wrong thing and traded the reliable 2002 Chevy Cavelier for $1100.00. Now I wish I hadn't to be able to make the choice as you do.

PB86SS 09-26-2013 06:15 PM

If you thought door dings were a problem, wait until you give a friendly wave to a fellow 86/BRZ driver - while you're driving your old beater! I take the old girl to work twice a week to keep the miles down on the 86, and last week in a somewhat tired state I gave the wave to a red 86 at the lights. The dude gave me a half-hearted/confused wave back which proves how awesome and personable us twin owners are, but he must have been wondering double-u- tee-eff. I was so embarrassed...

ravenblackfrs 09-26-2013 06:24 PM

Try running over a tire cap on the expressway the first month of owning it.... I did... scratched it to hell. Those scratches aren't coming out either. I parked too close to the side door on the house and the screen blew back and hit the passenger door. Pissed me off! I used some scratch x 2.0 and it buffed right out! That stuff is amazing! Sorry for your ding man, hopefully you can find a good shop to remove it without too much hassle.

kodyo 09-26-2013 06:25 PM

Had three door dings before I decided to get these, already prevented 1 more (although it did put a tiny chip in the trim.

bdanisi 09-26-2013 08:46 PM

i had to drive through an unexpected hail storm after owning it for less than a month, broke that crappy water color Japanese paint in pretty quickly haha

jsqui28 09-26-2013 09:06 PM

Same here bro. Had mine for 2 weeks and drove it to school. Came out 2 hours later, ding on the passenger door. 5 months later I have 3 dings and the passenger door and a scuff on the pass. mirror.

sirsol66 09-26-2013 09:19 PM

Mine took 6 days before something fell on the hood and left a dent.

Two options: get over it (I couldn't) or get a PDR guy to come out. I paid $100 and the dent was gone. Well worth your sanity.

AznBRZer 09-26-2013 10:04 PM

Less than 24 hours of ownership and some mother fucker decided to push a shopping cart into the passengerside mirror and scuffed it up. Thankfully a detailer was able to make it almost invisible.

Last Friday some fucker in some rusted out shitbox truck or suv did a hit'n'run job on my rear bumper.

mush 09-26-2013 10:11 PM

for rock chips this is worth it

http://www.drcolorchip.com/

sprintertrueno86 09-26-2013 10:15 PM

Didnt think much about it when this chick got out of the car and I heard the door hit my rear fender. Couple days later, I noticed a small dent with no paint damage on the area. Pretty sure it was from that. This happened before I hit 1k miles.:mad0260:

Now that the 1st dent, chip and scratch are out of the way, I can enjoy driving my BRZ hard and not worry about it. I still park further away or park next to nicer cars when I'm out.

Well, Xlr8, that's too bad .... :(

Remember, the first ding is the most painful.

You could keep your car in the garage and just allow yourself and close loved ones get near it ...... but wait, that may not work!

The first week we had our car, my wife inflicted the first ding (with her car door) and I inflicted the second ding, with a Rubbermaid trash can.....http://www.runemasterstudios.com/gra...mages/sigh.gif

Like suggested above, just get a PDR dude to tap it out and move on to enjoy your new car .... :)

Xlr8 09-27-2013 10:11 AM

Thanks crew. I just had to vent. This is the first brand new car I've bought since 1997 and I just really wanted to enjoy it on that new honeymoon phase. I usually buy 2 year old cars with under 30K miles so I don't worry about minor dings and such. But I just had to go get this one new. I do love it.

JDM FRS 09-27-2013 12:37 PM

noo! I had an 04 EP3 and like every time i went out to the car there was a new ding lol. I have 13k miles on my FR-S and not a single door ding(knock on wood)

Pbrown 09-27-2013 12:55 PM

Are we driving the same car?

Do we really need a thread like this every week 'OMG I GOT A 1CM SCRATCH ON THE SUPER THIN POS PAINT!!!!!!!!!!!"

We get it. You love your car and now it isn't perfect aesthetically. Boo hoo. Nobody's is. We bought a driver's car, meaning we are going to drive the piss out of it and put miles on it and get dents, scratches, and scrapes. It happens. People are careless. It happens.

I'm just tired of the same threads over and over. Can we get a newb subforum yet for posts like this? It's new to them but it's been the same for over a year for many. It's this or my airbag light goes off when i put my phone on the seat or I JUST GOT MY FRS!!!!.

The main forum should be information pertinent to the whole community, like new car specs, event info, etc. A newb forum would be the correct place for stuff like this.

Post here if you have feedback on the idea

Really a car/motorcycle forum is suppose to be about the whole ownership experience not just a spec/tech/ mod forum. So if someone gets a dent or scratch in there car they should be able to come on here and whine and bitch about it. They should have just as much right to do that as you have to whine and bitch and snivel about another scratch thread.

By the way..... Cool cry baby fit bro. :w00t:

midnightfrolic 09-28-2013 02:20 AM

I feel you OP. Before I made my first payment on my FRS, someone rear-ended me at a traffic light. Had to get the rear bumper replaced...I laughed it off. Can't live life being angry all the time, I'll die early.

Chee-Hu 09-28-2013 05:09 PM

It'll happen sooner or later if you drive your car. Not that big of a deal unless it's a huge ass dent. $30 to pop each door ding isn't too bad.

$30? Was quote $80 by the most popular PDR guys in houston, and that's for the smallest dent size.

I park my car in a parking garage for a very large auto insurance company. My last car had 5 dings in less than a year and half the building is CLAIMS reps!?!?!?!?!

So now I park my FRS in the furthest corner or the parking garage so I can park against a wall and keep my car as far from the other cars as possible.

You dont even want to know what going to the grocery store and mall is like.

dro 09-28-2013 08:53 PM

im so afraid of scratches

i usually walk a long ways to my destination

Last week I had to go to work real early in the morning. Followed a cement truck that was spewing dust out of its ass for a good 5-6 miles. I was too tired to notice or care. Now I have a good layer of filth all over the front end and most of the hood. I look like a damn rally car!

i park farther away from vehicles or try and find an edge where only one car will be parking next to me so i'm less likely to get hit

but as for parking next to nicer looking cars, it's a myth. can't tell you how many times i've seen mercedes, bmw, lexus etc drivers that are careless and still swing their doors open into other cars.. idiots are still idiots.. it really doesn't matter what cars they drive

unless you can park next to a million dollar car where the drivers truely care about the looks of their vehicle.. but you might be circling around parking lots all day looking for them..lol

I'm going to be as nice as possible in reply to what you said on a PUBLIC FORUM.

1.) He didn't ask for any opinion or sympathy from anyone. He was simply venting.

2.) It's a car forum, where MOST of us post about our CAR. Get it? Some of us like to post about our experience with the car.

3.) No need to be a jerk to the OP, all you had to do was read it and move on, you didn't have to post anything.

If a posting on a forum bothers you this much that you had to reply with such a negative attitude, then please do us all a favor and delete your account.

Edit: I wasn't attacking you or trying to be a jerk, I just thought your whole comment was unnecessary when all you had to do was ignore the post.

OP I know how you feel. I got a door ding my first couple of weeks of owning the car. A good PDR shop fixed her right up for 80 bucks.

Frs x3 09-29-2013 06:40 AM

Thank you Logical for speaking what was on my mind.
Logical you are logical.

Byebye 09-29-2013 07:28 AM

I could do a search but I don't see many people in this thread talking about clear bras?

Ugg... I'm about to trade in my cars for an asphalt FRS. I have an X MR now that has already saw rocks scratches and douchebags. Enough to make my heart sink. Am I making a good choice getting a new car?

I think I'll get a clear bra ASAP.
