Hello Norcal!!! here we go again

it's time for another day of fun

let's try to do better than 64 cars this time

I have been planning this out with some other members and we decided to just have this once a year event only. (No more Fall or spring meets)

We want to focus more on an Annual Meet to attract more people, vendors, and sponsors

Official Summer Meet/Drive and BBQ is confirmed!

Here are some of the details:

When: October 19, 2013
Time: cars begin to roll in at 9:00 AM (Vendors set up time is 8AM)
Where: Lake Del Valle, Livermore CA
Location: Agua Vista

What's in the plan for the BBQ/meet?

1. BBQ buffet

1/4 Lb Burgers, 8” Miller’s Hot Dogs, with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, relish, cheddar, mustard, ketshup, and mayo

We will also have an optional "Annual Event T-Shirt" available for pre-order.

The design of the shirt is just basic for now. Front will have the Norcal Owners Club logo. And the back will have all the sponsors/vendors logo as well as the event date and location

PARKING Fee: There is a park fee to pay for each car entering the park (NOT part of the registration fee to this meet.) You pay this amount at the park gate to enter.. not to me. Park rangers will collect them as you enter the park.

DRIVE SAFELY - Please read if you will join us for the cruise on Oct 19.
- IMPORTANT PLEASE READ ---

Any large group of cars gathering and driving brings with it some inherent risk. The organizers would like to do whatever they can to minimize that risk. Part of that is asking for each and every one of you to do your part to make it a safe and fun event.

PLEASE DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE. Consider not drinking if you intend to go on the drive, or at a minimum stop drinking at least 2 hours before we leave. Assume the worst - what if a police checkpoint is waiting for us right outside the park?

SHOW RESPECT. No burnouts, no obnoxious behavior, no reckless driving. There will be families and children in the area, don't do anything you would be embarrassed to do in front of your grandmother, your boss, or a police officer (whichever one you respect more).

Make sure you have at least 1/2 tank of gas before starting the cruise! The route is about 70 miles with no gas stations along the way.

Please DRIVE SAFELY. Watch for oncoming traffic at all times. Watch for bicyclists, other vehicles, pedestrians and animals, and give them space. Be courteous and patient with other fellow drivers and cyclists. This road is dangerous! People have died or been seriously injured driving this road.

Think of this as a group parade/cruise. This is not a race! There will be a mix of varying levels of driving experience/ability participating in this drive. If we observe any unsafe driving we will ask the offending driver to leave and possibly ban them from participation in any future events.

The road has a few blind spots and narrow turns that needs to be taken slowly due to proximity to cliffs and oncoming traffic. You or the car in front of you might have to stop immediately or with little warning. Please no tailgating, leave several car lengths between you and the car in front of you during the drive and be prepared to slow down!

We are cruising, not racing! Let's not create a bad name for our group by being one of those rude, reckless and dangerous car clubs. The last thing we want to see is people getting hurt or vehicles getting wrecked. Both happen on a regular basis on this road, and these rules exist to keep it from being YOU or one of us.

For sure, I think we have to be ready to handle a pretty large # of cars... if we want a long line of cars to stick together though we will want to keep the route pretty simple. M&M mentioned a proposed route he has been looking at already. I'm down to do some recon runs soon to see what might work the best, you guys feel free to PM me with what ideas you've got!

I'm always down for a test run! Another thing to consider is splitting into groups of less than ten cars. and running the route that way.

Would love to help out aswell, but due to my circumstances, I can't commit for sure until closer to the date (hence my lack of rsvp).

I was about to make that suggestion, this way we don't get too dispersed and lose people in the process. Splitting up worked really well from the last bbq (2 medium sized groups, with folks familiar with the route and have a radio leading/tailing/in-between the group). I'd even make the suggestion of splitting the groups by "comfort level" that way the more "enthusiastic" drivers can go on the first group and not be stuck behind slower cars while the slower drivers (like me) don't feel pressured to keep up and not get left by the group.
