Subaru announced today that the starting price of its much anticipated BRZ sports car will be $25,495 when it goes on sale. We don't have the exact date, other than Subaru saying it will arrive in dealerships "this spring."

The starting price of $25,495 does include a *destination charge of $750 and will get you the BRZ Premium with a six-speed manual transmission. Choosing a six-speed automatic will add $1,100 for a new total of $26,595. That price of admission does, however, include a touchscreen navigation system, bluetooth connectivity and HID headlamps.

Those who require more pampering can step up to the BRZ Limited with a base price of $27,495 for the manual-equipped model. Adding the automatic again bumps the price by $1,100 to $28,595. Limited models also get Alcantara seat inserts with leather bolsters, heated seats and mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, fog lights, keyless entry and start, and a body-color rear spoiler. The last and most expensive configuration comes when opting for seats fully covered in leather, which raises the starting price to $27,495 for the manual model and $28,595 for the automatic.

Even fully loaded, the 2013 Subaru BRZ appears to come in safely under $30,000. Based on our experience driving the car, that's a reasonable price to pay for such a high level of rear-wheel-drive handling. What do you think? Take our poll and send a Subaru a message about whether or not they priced the BRZ right.

So $200 more than last nights leaks. But still within the expected range. Excellent.

Theyve all pretty much already stated if theyre going over MSRP. Lot of them are located in the shady dealer thread.

Sportsguy83 04-05-2012 10:56 AM

Is tihs legitimate enough for you???

Correct. The numbers posted yesterday were delivered by SoA regional reps through direct contacts. Obviously SoA changed them slightly. Still though, SoA hasn't updated Subarunet, their website (the BRZ one and homepage I mean), the Subaru NYIAS site or anything else.. good old Subaru. Just the press release was done, nothing else.

Longhorn248 04-05-2012 10:57 AM

Not too far off the leak yesterday which is a pleasant surprise. Now is time to clean up the old car and get it ready to be sent on its way to make room for the BRZ!

I do wonder why they changed it from what they told the reps.. someone had some outdated info I guess. Either way, $200 is NBD when you are talking about 26-28k :)

It's the "don't release our prices early!" fee.

Sportsguy83 04-05-2012 10:59 AM

I am sold, I don't need anything else. Now the wait begins!

I wonder if those of us that got promised under-msrp pricing will get hosed though.

I would say it depends on the dealer.

Pakjk89 04-05-2012 11:03 AM

Don't forget about the deposits you guys put down! Assume destination is 250!

luckily you went through mastro which is the most respectable dealer I've ever had the pleasure of buying a car from.

$1315 for Nav, HIDs, and other small touches is not a bad deal. I think there will be some upset FR-S pre-order holders. But not too many. It's still $1315 in their pockets for their own Nav and other mods.

the_3d_man 04-05-2012 11:10 AM

But this is before $750 destination charge! I'm a little dissapointed. $26,245 for Premium manual. This car has gotten more expenssive with every passing month and it is no longer an "Affordable" sports car. But I'll probably still buy it...

Don't forget the awesome trunk liner like I always do!

$1,315 extra just for the fitting front end instead of the bulging FR-S lights is worth it to me by itself lol

Which sports car is more affordable?

Ah, my bad. I didn't realize that the Scion price included the destination charge. The price difference is pretty fair once you add the BRZ's destination charge.

Sportsguy83 04-05-2012 11:13 AM

I think I'm spoiled because I started following it a month ago, and did not have the low expectation price some people that have been following it for years had.

For real, I am extremely happy with the price (obviously lower price never gets old but I find it fair).

Giccin 04-05-2012 11:17 AM

And FRS people moving into the BRZ begins...
