A casualty of the Boulder floods

One of my associates at work:
http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...ps67dcd373.jpg

Looking inside it, it appears that the water was up to the top of the dash!
I hope it doesnt get cleaned up and resold to an unsuspecting person....

ericmpena 09-17-2013 07:10 PM

That's painful to see. :(

chrisl 09-17-2013 07:33 PM

That's really unfortunate :(

Where was it parked, if you don't mind my asking? That's among the deepest I've heard of the water getting on roads (not counting underpasses and the like).

Bad Habits 09-17-2013 07:45 PM

Looks just like mine. That has to suck. Hope that his insurance is a stand up company and gives him full replacement value so he can get back in another.

kakarot1657 09-17-2013 09:57 PM

Wow I've seen the news reports about the flooding in Colorado but man this is just sad to see

Yea it's just a car but man it a nice car that nature shouldn't do this to it.

I have to ask. This looks like the BRZ which parks at the Boulder BATC campus correct? I know that spot got hit hard and I recognize the corner/car cover. In that case, we're co-workers!

Back on topic though, I hope insurance takes care of it.

mwjcyber 09-17-2013 10:20 PM

That's pretty much up to your friend. If the car is repaired at any facility worth a squirt of piss, it will be reported and the title turned into a "flood title".

If he brings it to Bubba's Diesel & Fried Chicken Auto Repair, no one will know unless they take the carpet out and see all the rust.

When I look at the pic on the OP it looks like your at the morgue and they pulled the sheet away so you can identify the victim.

Tman08 09-18-2013 10:56 AM

I saw this on instagram the other day....sucks to see this happen to an owner as well as that area of the country.

Turkish 09-18-2013 11:10 AM

I am not sure if this is legal or not, but maybe once its been claimed by the insurance company the VIN get posted so at least people on the forum don't get shafted. So sad to see, but glad the OP is safe and sound.

If that's illegal, then the law making it illegal should be illegal.

I doubt it would be a law, but probably somewhere in the fine print of the contract you signed with your insurance and/or whoever took possession of the vehicle.

Anthony 09-18-2013 11:24 AM

It would essentially be preventing you from potentially exposing some grade A fuckery, and that is not cool with ol' Anthony.

that is the one, but I did not want to confirm that because until this morning it was still sitting there unlocked. I didnt want any scavengers picking over the carcass.

If you look carefully, you can see a pile of rocks behind the car.

Those are the train tracks that run parallel to Arapahoe.
The train tracks formed a dam.
So that entire area was under about 4 feet of water.

I thought the same thing.
On my other forum '914world' there is a sticky for dead VIN #s

1 out of 5 stars
Pro: The 3 layers of "breathable fabric" did not harm the finish of the car.
Con: Did not "protect your car from the elements", as was advertised. Did not even protect against rain water. Total scam. Will not buy again.

Thongpocket 09-18-2013 01:26 PM

Where are all the other cars? And ask your friend if I can buy it back from the insurance company :D

qoncept 09-18-2013 01:56 PM

Sucks. My house flooded in 2008. Lost pretty much everything we owned. I was going to stay one last night to keep the generator running for the sump pump but ended up leaving. If I had stayed I would have lost my WRX and probably would have needed to be rescued.

gily25 09-19-2013 10:54 AM

That's rough...I remember after Sandy seeing some pictures like this...one in particular of a 911 up on its nose in a house...you know that owner is probably still crying themself to sleep.

HunterGreene 09-19-2013 11:00 AM

That'll buff out....

Surprised nobody brought up that gem already. Sorry about the car, OP.

brz007 09-19-2013 11:25 AM

It's your can right now, if you want to you can post it.

If you car is in Colorado- it will get a flood brand. Colorado will not brand for hail or if the vehicle is older then 2000.

Its not the insurance company that you have to worry about, they have to comply with the DOT/DOI- its what happens after the vehicle is sold.

Unfortunately since there is no standard DMV across all states, its easy for the "bad guys" to wash title from one state and get a "clean" title in another.

My Porsche didn't leave the (fairly high) garage for the entire flood.

Steve201brz 09-19-2013 04:59 PM

that video is hard to watch. :eyebulge: the entire time. truly hope you get a replacement, sorry for the loss

Brzetto 09-20-2013 12:36 AM

Sorry to the owner but his BRZ was white and this was white too.

bestwheelbase 09-20-2013 04:04 AM

Yeah some body post the VIN so a future buyer doesn't get screwed. In fact, we should start a separate thread for all damaged VINs as done on other forums.
