My guy is out of the country.. so I actually tried a few days ago but forgot he won a trip from Subaru..

Soa. As long as you have a VON you can call SOA yourself, give them ur von and receive any available updates

K just got off the phone with a very nice rep at SoA in NJ.

The gyst/gist/jist/jyst of the phone call was that he has nothing new/relevant to share with me. My order does exist and it does show that I ordered a White BRZ Limited Manual Transmission. There was no ETA, and it's also on a WAITLIST. He didn't know what that meant, because it's a brand new car, but assumes that they just put it at the top of our VON sheets as a "filler." He then took my contact info and said he'd do some research/homework and email me or call me back with any information he finds.

I then asked him if he by any chance knew the price of the car, and he didn't. He did say that the price would be released on April 5th, and for sure be released at the New York Auto Show, which he thinks starts on Thursday (April 5th). He also said that the price should be available on subaru.com too on April 5th. He did say that the car SHOULD be going on sale at the end of April, beginning of May though.

So yah, sameo sameo, fellas.

Which is why I posted the phone number. I don't want to be the first to call. :bonk:

I had called them last week to see if there was anything in the system up about my order yet and there wasn't. When I bought my Impreza a few months back, SOA proved very helpful as my dealer was horrible with updates/letting me know status of the car. SOA let me know when the VIN first came into the system, production date/finish and expected arrival in the US port of entry and eventually my dealership.

The customer service rep I dealt with told me she would email me once something new comes into their system regarding my BRZ.

Good to know it seems pricing will be released on 4/5. She didn't know when I asked about pricing.

I called them on preorder day and it was in their system, and have called atleast once a week since then, Everytime I call they seem very eager to help...but have nothing to actually tell me, one guy even sounded giddy about the BRZ

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that the gentleman said that NO VIN existed yet, so they may have not even built my car yet.

I would be surprised if they did. I'm sure they made them for Japan first since those have been delivered, so US production will start and then they'll ship on the 20th, at least the first batch if those rumors end up being true.

What i heard from soa is that although they receive updates for vin's it is usually not until the car is shipped on its way to the us. There is often a 10 day delay from whenthe car is produced to when it is updated in the system

I just called. It seemed like the lady on the phone didn't even want to look up the information in the computer saying that the won't be available until next month.

I asked her to confirm the order was still in the system and she told me that if I have a VON, it is in the system.

Calling gets a big 'meh' from me. I'm glad others had better luck. Maybe I'll try again soon.

Talking to people over the phone takes a certain skillset, I do alot of ordering and expediting, follow up, pricing quotes, blah blah blah for my day job, it takes a while but with practice you can get people to give you info and even follow up with you...that said if a woman is PMS'ing you are just assed out, hang up call again, hope you get someone else on the phone

I know with Audi, the VIN isn't generated on the car until it's at least a month into production. We do have a commission number and other ways to track it though.

From several dealerships I've spoken with on this, Subaru doesn't assign VIN until the cars are on the boat and 1-2 days out from arriving in the states. I wouldn't expect any updates on a VON/VIN until the car is practically at the dealer if that's the case.

That doesn't make sense. The port is not removing windshields and riveting on VINs and then re-installing windshields just for fun.

He probably means that VONs aren't assigned actual cars until a few days before coming into port.

Yes, my mistake, I should have been more clear. A VIN isn't given to an ORDER until a few days out. The cars obviously have VINs prior to that. :)

just called and the lady and she had all my info like my address and first and last name..and said my order is in..but something isn't coming up..and that she will call me back...its been almost 2 hours and no call back :(

got a little nerves when she said "something isn't coming up" hmmm

Just spoke to a very nice gentleman who informed that there were no updates, but that he would check bi-weekly and let me know if anything changed.

yeah same here! called to some guy named Nick! wow great customer service!!! told me my order is GOOD and if any updates happen his going to email me :thumbsup:

Yup...remember the other day when I made the first call to SoA re: VONs? The guy also said he'd call me back after doing his homework regarding what "WAITLIST" meant. Nothing yet lolz.

I called about a week before I joined this forum. To be honest, didn't expect an update, just wanted to hear that SOA actually had the order and everything was set correctly.

After putting $1000 down, last thing I wanted was for this to not go smoothly.

I tried to call .. but the person on the phone was not very informative,
so I went the email route instead so far my correspondent "Kelly"
who is checking up on my question about my VON.

Like others I guess I am in the same boat because I got a feeling
we are all asking somewhat the same questions, but on the other side
of the fence(SOA reps) they are face with questions as well due to the BRZ
being a totally new vehicle launch.

Any US members check on this lately? I saw the thread where the Canadian member had a VIN. I suspect US shouldn't be much different.

Asked yesterday via email... Waiting for contact from SoA still.

No VIN yet. Called about 2 or 3 days ago.

Got an email today... No information yet.

Just talked to my dealer. She said that the car is still showing wait list status, but she said that sometime next week they should be getting build month info on each car they ordered. Won't say much more than what month the factory plans to build your car, but that will at least give each of us an idea of where we are on this wait list.
