Morimoto retro kit worth it??
Hey guys, im shopping for HID conversion kit... Just not so sure if i should go with a standard type HID conversion or go with the Morimoto retro fit. Trying to find side by side comparison pics if anyone that has the Morimoto's and have tried the stantard HID what is the major differences between two in terms of performance?
Thanks guys! |
Bulbs and ballast are not in the same category IMO.. BUT, my old DDM tuning kits look just as good as my new morimoto kits.. Difference is now that the ballast from DDM tuning went out in my moms car, we are having the hardest time getting it warranty.. Call TRS and it's handled.. Also morimoto is just a better name and better quality
HIDplanet.com have comparisons side by side of morimoto and others even OEM to see how they stack up as far as ballast and bulbs |
http://www.hidretrofits.com would be a good source for this topic :)

Thank you much guys ill check the sites.

I have the Morimoto retro kit and it is brighter and clearer than OEM with HID (which I had before)
|
Yes, the kit is amazing
|
Dumb question.... do you have to re-aim/level you head lights after installing the morimoto retro fit kit?
|
Yes they are worth it! Just a overall better projector and light output then stock plus high and low beam both in the projector. You will have to adjust your headlights using the stock adjustment screws.

My daughter has the MoriMoto retrofit kit and it is significantly brighter and much clearer with a safe for on coming traffic cutoff than the OEM with an HID plug in kit which was my first effort. The amount of fragging/abuse I received with my OEM hid posts was predictable for such a group of enthusiasts on this forum. Do it once and do it right.

Wow so many great reviews. ok morimoto retro kit for me then, once again thank very much for ur feed back!!!
|
biggest difference is having the high beam come from your projector. I'm very happy with my morimoto retroquick kit.

The new 6.0 is so much sharper than the original morimotos I used last summer, very nice.

I want to try 4300k but I don't want to lose the colorful cutoff. Any updates on those 6.0 adapters btw?

don't know about the projectors itself, but I can tell you TRS has exceptional customer service. I had a bad relay that was sent to me with the harness and they replaced it no questions asked. They even help troubleshoot and isolate a problem if you do have one, and will correct it as well. I've bought from them many times and will continue to do so.

@Gixxersixxerman
Do our stock type low beam bulbs fit, or would I have to get new bulbs? These are the projectors by themselves. They come with "optional" shrouds. Will the stock shroud not work? |

You want these: http://www.theretrofitsource.com/com...l#.UwgvdouYaUk They come with application specific mounting brackets that make the kit bolt in. Stock bulbs will not fit. |
Thanks @Poodles
I'm currently running an HID kit from HID Powerhouse. Anything wrong with reusing the Platinum R ballast? I would get the XB35 bulbs. |
If your ballast has standard AMP connectors, I'd go ahead and give them a shot.

Sweet thanks guys.

Question for those who did the retrofit with the 6.0 does the bi-xenon setup affect the DRL? Pics of how it was wired?
