Exhaust setup?

So my birthday is coming up around the corner and i want to get an exhaust for my birthday. The only problem is that i want a loud setup and i am mot sure what to get. I heard berks muffler delete an invidia n1 in person. The n1 was too quiet for me and i heard the muffler delete will cause engine problems due to no backpressure.

If you got a loud setup please share and if you can add in the price as well. Happy friday the 13th everyone.

zc06_kisstherain 09-13-2013 01:43 PM

you have all stock exhaust setup now?
I never heard muffler delete cause engine problem. also two catted on header and front pipe are enough. I uninstalled berk muffler due to its loudness since i had cattless front pipe that added more sound.

I didnt check out loud exhaust yet but i believe muffler delete / track pipe will give you loudest.

here's a loud muffler delete without the drone

I got stock everything. I want to go with the muffler delete with either trak pipe or high flow pipe. Do you still have your delete?

you could go really loud with a catless front pipe and a muffler delete or track pipe. I think the J2 catless frontpipe is going for less than 200 and you can snag a track pipe for around 100. stupid loud for 3-400$ doesn't sound that bad if that's what you want.

Probably catback for now. J2 catless frontpipe does sound good but i want to make sure it will make the muffler delete louder.

Im not a fan of my Berk single delete in my Auto FR-S. At 2400rpm it becomes very loud and annoying and that's basically where the car wants to drive everytime it downshifts in regular driving. While it sounds excellent when driven hard the way it should, it still passes that 2400 every freaking gear it seems like and it just gets annoying after a long trip. Currently awaiting Berk to get more tips in stock to sell me one then I'm going to make a custom muffled/resonated catback.

Lol why didnt you get the dual one?

tennisfreak 09-13-2013 03:40 PM

Perrin non resonated on mine sounds sweet.

Loud when I get on it, tame when I dont.

I have the ARK DT-S Catback system. Exhaust is great qaulity, amazing welds, Neo-burnt tips and very loud. I works so well with my Motiv Front-Pipe. Also, it produces an AMAZING sound. Purrs in idle and really puts is on when the throttle is open.

Check out the dBs in the picture above. Its loud and looks great. There are a bunch of great videos and pictures out there.

Check em out.

How much did it cost you?

Cjymiller 09-13-2013 04:54 PM

If you want a loud exhaust, get a Greddy Evo3 and just dont put the silencers in. My friend @Melody has one and it sets off car alarms and hurts your ears.

I have a Perrin and I bought it because it was quiet. You do not want a Perrin if you want a loud exhaust.

Yeah i am still debating on either greddy or muffler delete.

I usually order all my stuff through FT86 factory from Jeremy (great customer service and great bunch of dudes). I left the link for you below. Full Cat Back was about $1400

ARK DT-S Exhaust

They got some videos on the page too. I personally love it and though the price might be a bit high, it was 100% worth it.

There has been absolute none with my DT-S, nor have I heard of others with drone issues. ARK has done a great job on this system. I have driven with it for about 6k miles so far and never once experienced drone.

Marusich 09-15-2013 02:27 AM

love this setup

at least buy used exhausts. No point in buying new

Anthony 09-15-2013 03:54 AM

The Tomei 60R looks like it should be loud as shit. That's what I'm going to get.

Borla headers -> PLM over pipe -> Tomei front pipe -> Tomei 60R

bdanisi 09-15-2013 12:25 PM

the ark dts is absolutely amazing, that was my second choice. didnt realize it was 99 decibels whoa! I realy want to get mine tested haha I bet it is up there. And perrin, trd, are all great setups just quiet. the greddy evo 3 is one of the loudest catbacks ive heard yet but apparently the drone is just awful :(

jkr 09-15-2013 09:52 PM

Evo3.
The drone is eh, but mostly eliminated with the silencers.
It's simple though: if you want to show off you take the silencers out and if you get annoyed you put them back in.
The only gripe I have with it is that it vibrates the hell out of my rear view mirror and I swear I have to reposition in every few days...

edit: DSport tested it and apparently it was 104 decibels, they tested a few other exhausts over on their youtube channel

go with the berk dual muffler delete. i couldn't be happier with it. and for 279.99, it's the cheapest thing out there.

I was looking at getting the Evo 3 and keep the silencers on. How loud is it with the silencers? And does it sound good? I just don't want it to be annoying loud.

I'm curious. Why would anyone want a loud set up? To be annoying, show off, try to be cool, etc? This is not meant to be offensive. I'm simply curious.

To me there isn't anything that sounds better than rev matching a down shift perfectly. Music to my ears!

BlueDubbinTDI 09-17-2013 05:05 PM

I'm welding 4" tips on my stock exhaust and putting that back on Saturday morning. Go ahead and send me a PM if anyone is interested in the BERK single muffler delete. Stickers included lol.

I had the silencers in once and my friend drove my car around a lot... it sounded better than I thought it would. It's not too loud and it sounds a bit throaty. Granted I also have their intake system and that thing is pretty damn loud itself.
but if you intend on always keeping the silencers in I suggest the SP Elite.

d4wt 09-17-2013 11:35 PM

i love my invidia n1 and fp combo. great sound and quite loud (catless fp). borla uel headers come in tomorrow... need to figure out what op to get. anyways, i know you said n1 wasn't loud enough but it's actually considered one of the louder exhausts. however, go with a straight through set up if loud is what you want ;)

I think for the majority of people, and not just people here, but all people everywhere, I think more often than not it's for attention. I've never owned a loud car, but I have been in them, and I've learned from first hand experience that loudness adds to the sensation of speed. Of course if the car is slow, this is just going to make it look really really stupid.

Definitely. Although it doesn't need to be loud to do this. Of course, it depends on your definition of loud. An aftermarket is exhaust will almost certainly be louder, but not necessarily what I would consider loud.

EDIT: Oh, and another benefit is that you don't need to look at the tachometer as much compared to stock. Once again though, it doesn't need to be "loud" to achieve this.

NO JOKE I forgot about the tach, pre exhaust I checked it like every 5 seconds especially while I was learning manual. Now i glance at it occasionally lol I know revs based on sound and it also makes using a clutch easier becuase you can hear exactly when the gas cuts out and then right when the gas is going again.

About loudness though, really any aftermarket exhaust will give you the cool things mentioned above, to each their own really, I just feel more in tune with the car and my shifting!
