CEL after tune?

Not sure if anyone else is getting these CEL codes, ever since I ran Visconti's tune it's been popping CELs, I have his flex fuel tune. below are some of the codes

P1449
U0100
C1201
C1294

I hope those codes are not a sign of it catching on fire eventually. I really don't know what they are for though.

Since the codes are new since the tune, have you called the Tuner to see what they think??

It's been 7 business days since I left a message on his zendesk helpdesk and his last reply was:

"1449 should be off, I'll send you a update in the morning"

Getting ahold of him is almost like hitting the lottery... if I would have known it was like this I would have never went this tuner.

U0100 and some others for me, plus no where near the power advertised. Got "looks good". Requested fix/troubleshooting/acknowledgment there's an issue, to which he replied (after a month) that it "isn't his problem". Requested money back if they were unable to fix it, they refused. Started a paypal dispute; they called and said we'd "work something out" if I closed the dispute so I did. Now they've insinuated I'm a malcontent and a liar that waited "months after purchase" to complain, even after I showed proof that I complained about the issues IMMEDIATELY after I received the tune. Now they refuse to respond entirely, so more or less business as usual. ;)

If you can paypal dispute I'd recommend it. I'm now going to be forced to try a chargecard retract. Absolutely amazing customer service. "Stop whining you got what you paid for."

Welcome to Visconti Tuning. Thanks for your $1325.

Nightbringer 09-12-2013 03:28 PM

Agreed. As soon as I flash back to stock, no more CEL's. Flash back to V-Tune? CEL's. Obviously there's no correlation there though. ;)

Recommendations:
1) Flash back to stock
2) Dispute Charges
3) Call Toni @ FA20Club

Problem solved. :)

iketiak 09-12-2013 04:05 PM

Would the dispute work? I bought the kit on May 8th but did not receive receieve the kit til late June.

Nightbringer 09-12-2013 04:10 PM

Much too late for a paypal or card dispute unfortunately, and if they treat you like they did me, they won't be responsive to a fair refund. Sorry man. :\ Only thing you can do is state your case to them and request recompense. Then, when they tell you that they "don't have time for this", you begin spreading the word on the forums with documentation.

If your issues are persistent though, I'd recommend contacting FA20Club. Toni's super quick on response times and will be able to help get you fixed up and the price difference will be staggering. He's not in it just for the money like your current tuner. ;)

The naysayers are just "a few malcontents that will never be satisfied." Those speaking up about the less-than-optimal service are still a minority on the forums compared to those that are either blissfully ignorant and/or are fortunate enough to have received a decent tune.

I also was not fond of the off-the-shelf tunes, especially considering the most expensive tune I've ever had that I couldn't edit myself was $250---compared to the $1325 Visconti charges. However, FA20Club is a starkly different experience. He actually customizes and updates the tune for your vehicle, and is quite thorough. Always willing to answer questions, even if they're unrelated to tuning, etc.

White64Goat 09-12-2013 04:31 PM

Because probably not everyone with his tunes have had problems. From what I've been reading, it seems most of it has been with the flex-fuel tunes and not for a stock N/A tune to help fix the torque dip problem.

Nightbringer 09-12-2013 04:43 PM

The flexfuel leak was a more notable disaster to be sure. In this case, most people are satisfied with an untouched reflash, and half the people on this forum don't know how to properly datalog to tell if their tune is decent. You see more active complaints coming from advanced users (forced induction threads) who are more cognizant of logging.

There is also a large number of people who will not speak up with any criticisms for fear of reprisal, as he is their only tuner, and they don't have the cash to switch to anyone else.

Bottom line: charging $1325 for a generic one-size-fits-all tune is unacceptable. Unwillingness to take responsibility for problems that arise with your product is also unacceptable. Blatantly disrespecting your customers? Also not terribly acceptable.

Tony @FA20Club.com is the man. No issues with my e85 tune for over 10k miles.

newfienorthca 07-29-2016 10:53 PM

I was throwing C1201 and U0100 after dyno tune. They would show up only after driving at a constant speed for a few km. Received a new ECUtek ROM from my tuner and viola! Problem solved.
