Why not combine the general sections?
So, why not? Things get put in the wrong spot all the time, I'm not sure too many people care to have a FRS general chat or BRZ general chat as much as a platform general chat. 'Course, I could be wrong.
I don't think it'd be a terrible idea to combine the photo sections too, since the same happens there, but at least we have a slight visual difference with the cars on that point. |
That is literally THE worst idea ever. You must drive an FR-S.

Maybe instead of:
General FRS/GT86 ---Photo FRS/GT86 General BRZ ---Photo BRZ We have: General 86 Forum --- FRS/GT86 Specific Forum --- FRS/GT86 Photo Forum --- BRZ Specific Forum --- BRZ Photo Forum Basically create one 'general section' for most chat, then put the sub forums inside that so hopefully most of the posts go in the main general section and then the specific to the brz/frs/gt86 topics can go in their respective sub forums. |
The only benefit I can find in there being two separate forums is that the BRZ one seems to have more threads about superficial/luxury stuff that I don't care about. But that's me really looking for a benefit.
When I log onto the site, I read all the forums from top to bottom. The segregation just makes me have to click more. I say combine them. |

Aside: I don't really see much point in separate make as well. |

I'm for combining them. Have them separate does not make a lot of sense to me.

Bolt them on together
|
We used to have only one general section... but we had way too much FR-S vs BRZ pointless debates, we had to separate em.
|
Oh. Well... if that's what happens, definitely keep them separated. I retract my vote.

It just seems bizarre to have, say, a thread about front license plates, or bike racks, or steering wheels, in one forum or the other, when the parts are all the same. Same goes for discussions of driving, handling, power, car seats...the list goes on. Sure, there are SOME topics that are Subaru or Scion-specific, but the vast majority are not. --Dan Mach V |

No one reads the stickies/FAQ, I've come to realize and accept. Case in point would be a LONG thread in the FRS General section titled "Age and Profession survey" that is 64+ pages long and really has nothing to do with the car. In the end, it's up to members themselves to make the sections better. We can have more segmentation of discussion or merge sections together, but it's all dancing around the same core problem of "too many posts similar in different sections" or "too many overlapping content"... all which originate from member posts. -alex |
