Saturday Sept. 7 - Meet/DRIVE/Photo Shoot Redwood>BayBridge>TI
 

Well, even though the official NorCal 86 Summer DRIVES are over, the weather is still too good to pass up another opportunity to cruise and hang out. :) And my plans for a featured car photo shoot for Sept. kind of fell through momentarily, so I had an idea for another kind of feature.

As all of you know the new Bay Bridge span has opened. If you're like me you might not have had a chance to cross it yet. So I figured I would do that this weekend. Why not make it a fun outing? Stop midway at Treasure Island and take some photos. If you're a late riser and can't meet up earlier then meet us at TI. I don't know exactly where on TI we will be but hey it's a small island, you'll find us LOL. Anything fun alone is more fun as a group right? ;) Bring out your cars, and get featured as a group in this month's Feature Story on 86DRIVE.com! :D

Start location:
Peet's Coffee
20439 Redwood Rd, Castro Valley, CA ‎
Castro Village Shopping Center

Bring money to cross the Bridge (or Fastrak). And radios if you have them. Cameras and GoPros welcome too. ;)

TL;DR version:

10AM - Meet at CV Peet's Coffee. Short drive up Redwood Rd. Head out to Bay Bridge.

11AM - Stop at Treasure Island for photos. Then split or grab lunch somewhere after.

Well since I know you always ask the same question -- if you don't make it to meet us at 10AM, the next meet up point is at TI around 11AM. LOL

@NorCalGirl, yes I am working right now too! I work somewhere that provides 24hr services, we can talk about it more tommorrow if I make it out to the drive instead of posting random info on here :p or PM me hehe

I'll try to come out for this. Haven't had the FR-S out of the garage for over a week now. Need to give it a wash and stretch its legs.

Traffic on the bridge is supposed to be pretty bad tomorrow, but it should be worth the views. I'll bring the ol' camera out.

Yeah it wouldn't surprise me if traffic was crazy on the bridge this weekend since a lot of people will be thinking the same thing - check out the new bridge. Call me silly but I think it would be cool to add to the spectacle by having a chain of 10-15 86's roll through there too. Who knows maybe we will make the evening news haha.

Make sure you guys have enough gas before we start. In case it becomes a parking lot. :iono:

It's gonna be mega nice there tomorrow. I might just have to steal that idea for after the meet.

Looks like we will have a nice sized group... Since the lot tends to be full out front near Peets let's meet towards the back (around past the Payless Shoe Source). There's usually more parking back there. Regulars know the spot. :)

is there a good spot before the bay bridge to wait for you guys? if not ill be at TI at 11

we will take Golf Links Rd after Redwood Rd, so another possible meet up point is 580 and Golf Links Shell Gas Station around 1030. We can stop there briefly and regroup before heading out to the bridge. I'd rather not stop near the bridge as merging back on together will be difficult in traffic.

Realistically, we may not get to TI until more like 1130 depending on traffic and delay etc. We'll see, not like it isn't a nice place to be while you wait. :)

Sorry, didn't see this until just now. I can't go anyway, obviously, since it's already past the meeting point. Hope you guys have fun and don't get stuck in too much traffic!

A side note, I miss the early morning drives. I know most people don't like waking up early on the weekend, but I don't mind it for a good drive, and I like having the rest of the day to do stuff!
