Looking for a LOUD system

Hey all,

I see lots of people doing a single sealed ten or two sealed 8" subs in these cars. I need some bass in mine. I want to do a 10W7 in a ported box. Extreme overkill for this car. The trunk looks really small. Has anyone done this?

Anthony 09-02-2013 02:03 AM

It just occurred to me that there is no Audio/Video/Pimp my ride section on this site. LOL

EDIT: Sorry that doesn't help you at all, I'm just so surprised I just now noticed this.

jeffs42885 09-02-2013 02:10 AM

Not a problem. I wasn't even sure if this was the right spot.

Anthony 09-02-2013 02:12 AM

Nope, I think this is as good as it's going to get. I've never seen anyone talking about audio stuff though, so maybe there's some secret spot on this site I don't know about.

Anthony 09-02-2013 02:13 AM

Oh, here it is: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=27

I'm blind.

Here is my 10W7. She barely fits, but she hits hard!

Box is also built to JL specifications. The box barely fits height wise, but I managed to fit it in there. Powered by JL Audio 500/1.

my 10JL W3v3 hits plenty hard for me. I generally run it at 1/3 power from the amp or less... Any more is too overpowering for the rest of the speakers.

I use one if these in a ported box with the matching jl amp. Also using a kenwood touch screen unit. Gives you so much better control over the stock head unit. I highly recommend upgrading that first!

How much airspace is in the box with the 2 subs?

rmjjensen 09-02-2013 11:31 AM

I fit two 12s with a little fiberglass work. I personally don't feel that it's overkill at all.

I thought of getting the two ten boxes and inverting the subs

Drftfan 09-02-2013 08:07 PM

I just sold my 12w7 out of my jeep. After two years I had enough of it. Just too much. Debating doing a single 8 or ten in my frs since I have an extra amp but we will see.

CAMBAM_6 09-03-2013 01:12 PM

Has anybody fit a single 12 in a box yet? I want to set it up to where i can quickly remove the box and amp for days i want to do some spirited driving :burnrubber:

DNAPoPo 09-03-2013 01:45 PM

I use a JL Audio HO wedge box with a single 10w6v3 and it hits pretty hard. Single is more than enough in my opinion, but those double sub set ups sure look awesome.

mrfuzzynuggets 09-03-2013 01:55 PM

I have 2 JL 10W6v3 subs run off a JL 500v1 amp. Anything more than that is overkill really.

Any pictures of how it's secured? This is the set-up I'm also considering.

Chee-Hu 09-03-2013 04:52 PM

Hot damn! A little overkill? Do you folks compete? I never understood the purpose of loud ass systems on daily drivers. That's just me though. Carry on.

Secured with Industrial Strength Velcro, sorry no pics at the moment, but I will get you a shot within the next couple of days.

@DNAPoPo Thanks man, that'd be much appreciated!

so i have been keeping this a secret until i was done but i cant wait any longer to show it off, i wanted to install two 10" subs however all had were my old JL 12"w3v3 sitting in my room. I have never made any sub box out of fiberglass before and really had no idea what i was doing all i did was look up DIY and how to do things anyways. Im in the final couple of weeks of this build and then i will post my own thread so here is a teaser till then. So far things are going great and looks way better then i could have image back on day one when i started look at the Facebook link to see the build from day one

I hope those are going to be molded into a substructure or some kind of false floor piece

rusty959 09-04-2013 04:20 PM

Ive got a 12" Orion HCCA on an AQ 2200 watt RMS amp. Half fiberglass box to fit in the trunk better but still takes up about half of it. I can take it out for autocross.

@evolution_sfv, going to the valley meet tonight if you want to see it in person.

Right on brotha! Do you usually come out to the valley meets? Not entirely sure I can roll out tonight, have to get outta the dog house for going to Vegas last weekend. I'll try my best.

I'm running the 10w6v3 in a custom corner loaded sealed box. I feel like I need more volume, specifically for the frequencies 32hz and under.

Usually every other week or so, I was one of the guys that helped Boyce get the meet going.
