BRZ carbon fiber mustache?

I've looked pretty extensively for a simple overlay for the front mustache... no can find?! I've seen the carbon fiber overlay for the rear diffuser... anyone know anything about a carbon fiber front mustache? Thanks!

Thank you for the lead... suuuuuuuper hard to find though, have yet to actually find it for sale.

Norcalmav23 08-27-2013 12:41 PM

crazy that other companies aren't all over this part... I would think that it would be pretty cheap to make and would sell well.

Hanakuso 08-27-2013 01:03 PM

HKS Kansai makes one but it looks like they integrated the license plate.

That looks pretty good actually, thanks... still trying to find one without the license plate thingy. If I cant find one I'll probably track this down.

You gain weight because it's an overlay, not a replacement. It's all one piece with the rest of the front and can't be removed.

This is purely an aesthetic part.

Kiske 08-27-2013 06:48 PM

Yep, just an overlay that attaches with 3m double sided tape...

m.wood0213 08-27-2013 07:01 PM

does anyone actually have this on their brz. im very interested in this for the LP mounting. I bought the tow hook relocation kit because I didnt want to drill into the mustache.

I have the Kansai Service one. Japanparts has it listed on their site because I inquired to them about it 2 months ago for which they ordered it for me. I prefer it over the S-Craft one because it matches the stock body lines.

I pre-drilled the holes but never installed it yet. Not 100% sure I want to install it since I already have a carbon front lip (might be a bit too much carbon over load). If you want it I'd consider offers on it. Will post up pics when I get a chance tonight.

Sorry, as mentioned I wasn't sure if I really wanted to run it but below is my review and pics...

Quality is good. The weave looks professional for a hand laid piece, there don't appear to be any air pockets embedded in the resin or anything like that but honestly, I was expecting a little more from a name like Kansai Service (maybe I'm just that picky, though). I've seen some other parts by them and they were absolutely spectacular and flawless. The left side of the piece has probably a single layer of carbon but they probably didn't paint/coat the back part of the piece enough with black because when you hold the piece up to the light a little light pierces through. It's really not a big deal because once you put on the piece it's not noticeable but still. You can also still see a portion of the original mustache piece at the corners and a really small section at the top. No real biggy for me. Please keep in mind this was only a test fit and the piece can be installed a lot more flush with the double sided tape so the original mustache can be seen even less.

As usual for most affordable carbon items it's really a carbon top layer but mainly comprised of a fiberglass under layer. It appears to have provisions for both Euro and JDM plates (sorry, no USDM holes so drilled them myself). You might also want to consider clear coating the piece if you plan to use it on a regular basis as most carbon pieces from a lot of manufacturers don't have UV protection and might yellow faster over time.

Price was whatever was listed on Japanparts website + shipping.

Kiske 08-28-2013 04:22 PM

Looks nice but, I'd have to go with S-Craft on it. That ones is smooth (no license plate and even shaved body-line.

Well, I'm expecting to pay customs & duty fees because I ordered a bunch of other things at the same time  so that might be a bit different from someone just buying the Kansai piece alone. I say "expecting" because FedEx hasn't sent me an invoice for the fees yet.

The S-Craft was an option (actually it was the first one that came out but then I discovered the Kansai one) but because it didn't keep the stock indentation lines it reminded me too much of a big single tooth Mater from Cars and personally looked too bulbous/bulky.

@brz_star21 what lip is that ??

mike the snake 08-28-2013 05:47 PM

I'm still waiting for someone to cut the mouthpiece completely out, and install a black wire mesh grill.

That's what I'm planning on doing. It'll open up the front for better cooling, and IMO it will look a lot better.

Norcalmav23 08-28-2013 08:41 PM

F... that could look very cool if done right... my balls aren't even close to big enough to attempt that though... I'll let someone else be the first to jump on that one.

Looks like zele...trying to get my hands on that lip but shipping to ny is killer.

mike the snake 08-28-2013 10:51 PM

I'll probably be the first to do it. I personally do not like the mouthpiece at all. The grill opening is a cool shape.

When my turbo kit and parts come in in 2 weeks I'll be cutting the mouthpiece out and fabbing my own metal wire grill for added airflow, and better looks IMO.

@smellslikecurry got it correct, Zele Performance.

The lip is obviously lower than stock so be careful over bumps and such. It also extends forward about 2.5" from the stock bumper. It's my field plow/leg tripper. :bellyroll:

mike the snake 08-29-2013 08:15 AM

When i cut my moustashe off, I'll be going with this part as well.

I bought it from a place called Nextmod up here in Ontario. From what I've experienced I wouldn't recommend it, fitment was appalling and they did not pay attention to my special request. I'm planning on purchasing the product someone linked above from a company in the US, it seems like better quality and i've learned my lesson about buying from a company that has no employees that speak english.

These carbon parts are so choice but I'll have to stay with my durable rubber plastic grill. Hit some big bugs on the highway.

Silk8668 07-21-2015 02:02 PM

Hey Guys, I will shoot some photos when I take them, But, I have a 2015 Satin Pearl BRZ and Bought a front lip from Car ID and I wrapped it in White Carbon Fiber. I also did the Stache and put a Black mesh Grille on. It came out Awesome. I use to design and wrap Vehicles when I got of Art School for about 3 years and it is really not that hard to do. REAL CARBON parts will cost a shit load and you hope they don't get scraped up. You can buy 3M Carbon which will look great. Go on ALIEXPRESS.COM You can get it pretty cheap for about 5 ft of wrap. Next I wil do the Side skirts. I don't have a Difusser yet, Still debating.

Also, ...............I work for Subaru Corporate and The 2016 Hyper Blue BRZ and WRX STI are starting to trickle in..........I placed my order and wil be selling my 2015 BRZ, absolutely MINT with 2500 miles.
They are only making 700 WRX in the US and 500 of the BRZ. also, it will be available in automatic/ paddle shifters.

STI wears 18-inch BBS® Black Alloy wheels and black badging with black painted exterior mirrors.
Custom Brembo Calipers, Rear view Camera, electric start, CARBON FIBER interior with custom seats stitched Blue with BRZ and WRX stitched in Head rests, Custom Carpet matched stitched BRZ or WRX.............

SUBARU STARLINK 7.0″ Multimedia Navigation System comes standard on this trim with 9 Harman/Kardon® speakers and 440-watt amplifier.
