WHoooo Congrats !!!

Good info. and noticed - "Analog Tach w/Programmable Rev Indicator " Last few STi's had this where you can set which Rpm for shift light / audible beep :)

Sport-Tech 03-27-2012 06:56 PM

Interesting - looks like red seat accents ARE included on US cars, I know they are not on the Canadian ones. And DRLs are standard for US as well. Glad to see we get an immobilizer, no one had mentioned that.

Congrats BTW.

poormans_LFA 03-27-2012 06:57 PM

no BRZ for you???

Ikaros 03-27-2012 07:04 PM

Aw, that's lame how they took out the red sticking for the Canadian edition only. The rear window defogger is pretty cool of it's not referring to those wires on the window that takes forever to defog.

Standard DRL = no hassle to import

No options to choose from?

No options, only accessories. Also, it seems like Bespoke might be standard. There's a no cost accessory titled "Base Audio", which I assume is the non-Bespoke headunit.

This tidbit is news to me. Anyone else live in a cave?

About the gauge sweep (BRZ):

[u2b]YE57aWKt2A0[/u2b]

I've noticed Subaru includes that feature on their "performance" cars. I think it's one of the most overlooked (and awesome) features because it acts like a computer POST to make sure everything's running A-OK. Makes you feel like you're starting up a fighter jet or a performance-oriented piece of machinery.

"This is (K), all systems are 'go'. Preparing for take-off...to the supermarket. For juice and waffles."

zAnSh1n 03-27-2012 09:02 PM

o man, too bad only the tach sweeps...

I have it on my first generation TC. Personali I don't find it that interesting kinda annoying...

Dadhawk 03-27-2012 09:07 PM

Sweet! Thanks for posting. Love the Asphalt color, that was on my short list and it looks great in the photos I've seen.

(K) 03-27-2012 09:09 PM

It's definitely a personal preference thing. The previous generation LGT has a nice sweep; it's all over the place.

zAnSh1n 03-27-2012 09:12 PM

yea, it's a common feature nowadays... my moms outback has them, haha

Our '12 Impreza does this. So it isn't just their "performance" cars. But I agree, I like it.

Damn no fogs.

I noticed that too.
And "Smart Stp Tech (SST)".
I wonder if that's only for the ones with auto trans.
I'm getting manual trans and I don't really like to have SST.

I remember reading somewhere on here that SST can be disabled as well as TC and another electronic do-hickey

That's probably exactly what it's referring to. Here's a pic I took of the rear I took at the Chicago Auto Show. You can see the heat strip defogger.

I know it is personal preference, but I think the car looks better without them. Plus, most factory fogs are quite useless. If you really like the look, I'm sure you could buy the BRZ Limited to install or some aftermarket fog kit.

(K) 03-27-2012 09:34 PM

In regards to the fogs, I always thought they resembled the new Camry XLE fog lights. Food for thought.

They are pretty useless i'll definitely agree on that. I just have a hard time staring at the empty space! But considering there is day time runners there i suppose it wont be much of a big deal i could always buy aftermarket and mount them anyway or LED's ;) eh? Just kidding i think LED's is seriously overdoing it.

(K) 03-27-2012 09:38 PM

Wow. I definitely need to get out of the cave once in a while.

It has VVT-i!? NICE!

Jayp 03-27-2012 09:56 PM

Thanks for the list. Those standard features are okay I guess, though I do wish they would have put in more. I'm just happy they included airbags.

Since were talking about important amenities, im glad the tires are a standard feature as well.

is that the feature where it blips the throttle when you downshift?

oh, and DRLs will be the first thing i disable :]

Ryephile 03-27-2012 10:38 PM

Thanks for posting! Great to see some sort of comprehensive confirmation of all the equipment details on the FR-S.

Up until now it's been strictly referred to as DAVCS [Subaru-speak for Dual Active Valve Control System]. Obviously, Scion doesn't want to crib Subaru's lingo so they substitute appropriate Toyota lingo for the same functionality.

(K) 03-27-2012 11:39 PM

That's what I mean, manufacturer nomenclature aside, I thought it was published that they were using a system which controlled intake and exhaust timing, hence DVACS. Toyota's equivalent would have been Dual VVT-i. Must have been a typo or something somewhere. I must have missed, yet another, important discussion as well...I'm going to poke around the forum search library to catch up.

I'll need to leave the comforts of the cave, maybe get a tan while I'm out here.

dookie11 03-27-2012 11:43 PM

So when it kicks in, what do I say? "VVT-i kicked in yo!" Or "DAVCS kicked in yo!" ?

S2kphile 03-27-2012 11:48 PM

I wonder if the BRz is gonna get the same Pioneer 300-watt speaker system?

Congrats BTW.

Engine immobilizers have been legally required in Canada since 2007. So they are probably trying to standardize the car so the Canadian version and US version are as similar as possible.
