where did you Pre-order NORCAL ?

Where did you pre-order in NORCAL ?
and what deals did you get ? there are a few
around me .... Carlsen , stevens creek and Capital...

anyone here pre-order from the above dealership and
did they give you MSRP with 500 down ?

So far 3 carlsen subaru... redwood city [[ they wanted MSRP + $1000 extra : C ]]
4 at stevens creek
And capital... (( sold out ))

aphonic 03-26-2012 02:26 PM

The greater Bay Area dealers have sucked so far for me when inquiring about the BRZ. As much as Capital has a good rep and has a history of "catering" to enthusiasts, I've had nothing but rude salesman and clueless reps every single time I call them or set foot in the dealership.

I pre-ordered mine from Livermore Subaru at the recommendation a friend. He bought one of the first WRX's off the boat from Japan in '02 from them and had nothing but good things to say about the buying experience and continued correspondence. I'm glad I took his advice, as everything has gone great so far and they've been transparent and welcoming. They're allotted 13-15 for the year, and last I heard, 9 pre-orders had been put in. $500 refundable deposit, guarantee of MSRP.

I was #1 at Carlsen... MSRP only

Seriously? I called Carlsen on 3/5 and Chris Bowers explicitly told me they were charging $1,000 over MSRP. I even got it in writing via email.

+1 for Livermore Subaru. I'm in the east bay and right when the announcement for pre-orders came out, I called around the area asking about it. The best I got was being placed on a "list". Finally tried Livermore Subaru since I remember them being very cool and even letting me test drive two STIs (a new and a pre-owned hawk eye) for comparison. I've been working with Wayne, and although he's not the most informed, he's been very transparent and truthful of the situation. Heck, he even gave me a call to tell me they had a pre-production car available for me to sit in the day they got it.

MRZ415 03-28-2012 01:26 AM

I ended up going to Stevens Creek and got MSRP from Mark Moore...
friendly fellow... other folks in there I did my best NOT to talk to them.
(when I did my order I saw on his screen there is 11 spots left since I am #24

Steven's Creek Subaru? I just stopped by Steven's Creek Scion and dropped a deposit off there. I think they said they only have a handful of deposits so far. (less than 10) but that they only were getting like 6 cars.

well... the Subaru VS Scion ..
I wanted HID + nav ... so its 1000 more ...
Scion can be had for less .. but you get less.

Yeah I can do HID later, and I don't need nav. Plus I want the 86 badge on the fender cause I'm superficial. I had an 85 Corolla GTS with a Zenki Levin front. I miss it to death, so I'm going "Toyota" this time around to relive the memories of that car.

All I care about is not having to use a tape adapter on a stock stereo to play music from my iPhone, and I know that's standard in all Scions.

UPDATE: Just got off of the phone with the Stevens Creek Scion. I'm 3rd in line. So not many people have put down deposits there yet. I also talked to Sunnyvale Toyota, and I think they'll be a good source as well from what the guy was telling me. He said they are the largest distro center in south bay. So anyone in NorCal still looking for a Scion should check those places.

A friend and I are number 1 and 2 on the list at Stevens Creek Toyota/Scion. Bummer to hear they may only get around 6 cars. I will be holding out for the Hot Lava in a Manual. If it doesn't hit the lot in the first allotment I will wait for the next shipment, and the next and the next if I have to.

Alliedforces86 04-26-2012 10:43 PM

I Pre ordered mine from Maita Subaru in Sac. I told the salesman I'm working with that some of you guys on here got MSRP with the deposit an he pretty much acted like I was lying and/or I didn't know what I was talking about. He thinks everyone is doing a mark up. My Limited out the door is over 32k :-/... I'm still going to try and talk him down. I think it's bs to be charged a mark up. Though it's a good dealership, they even carry Prodrive wheels, COBB accessport and turbo back exhausts for WRX/STI. I've never seen a dealership carry after market parts like they do.

When I stopped by there the other week to check out the Premium they had one of the salesman said they were getting like 30 since they were a high volume dealership lol.. It's funny how different every salesman story is, always about 90% BS since they don't have any info or knowledge.

The Subaru dealership said the same thing to me. It's the Scion dealership that said they're getting like 6. They're like down the street from one another.

Maita is doing a markup? Thats not cool.

I'd just tell them if they insisted on a markup, I'd walk next door to the Scion dealer and order an FR-S instead for MSRP since they don't haggle (and thats what I would actually do too).

Anyone have any hard info on when they'll be getting there car? I have a deposit with stevens creek scion and they dont seem to have any straight foward information and its really starting to annoy me. Capitol Scion did give me straight foward info on what cars they're getting at the last week of this month but they tried to smell it to me at the "fully loaded" price of $30000. It supposedly has leather and tints and nav. They arent gunna make me a sucker with crap theyre probably installing themselves they got from local hookups. And all other dealerships seem to not know anything. Idk. All this waiting and anticipation with a little bit more info daily from this forum is starting to make me a little crazy.

turbor87 05-09-2012 03:00 PM

I can help anyone looking for an fr-s. Email or call me.

I actually JUST got off of the phone with Steven's Creek Scion. They are going to get their first allotment in a few weeks. The colors are Black and Asphalt, but he's trying to work with his district manager to get a white one for me. He's also not sure, but some of the cars will have upgraded audio done at the port and will boost the cost by $1100. He told me that if I don't want that, then he'd hold out for me and let me know if one that hasn't been upgraded like that comes in. I told him I don't want that, so we'll see where that goes.

Talked to another dealership and he's telling me there is some film on the rear bumper with the Scion logo. I want my car to look like the pictures Pekingduck posted. Clean. I don't want extra logos or advertisements on the car. So I'm trying to get more information, but my secret dealer guy looked up inventory for me, and I could have a black car with that bumper thing in 7-10 days. Hrmmmmmm.

rcm47 05-10-2012 08:53 PM

Will you be paying at msrp for that black on?

Slightly more if I go for it, but that rear bumper appliqué is a deal break for me. I just find it ugly. I saw one on a Prius today at the San Jose Giants game. It's super apparent, and a super ugly place to put a logo that you can't really remove easily.

I'm basically gonna say "I'll give you a check today if you can get me the car without the appliqué, or I'll just wait for the next round."

turbor87 05-11-2012 01:40 PM

This car is going to be great got to see the fr-s one came to our dealer yesterday.

Just called my dealer (Livermore Subaru) today and found out that I've been bumped from #4 to #2 in their system, but still no VIN/ETA. They guessed the first few cars should start coming in early next month. Pretty damn happy since I was expecting July delivery, but it might not be much longer now :)

Awesome, I've been trying to get a hold of them (Wayne) with out much luck... thanks for the indirect update, this probably means I've been bumped up too, :w00t:

aphonic 05-13-2012 04:51 PM

EDIT: the dealer I recommended is actually absolutely terrible. For future reference to anyone in northern california: don't go anywhere near Serramonte Subaru!

soooopahfly 05-14-2012 05:07 PM

Hey aphonic,

Which salesman did you speak to at Serramone Subaru? I actually went in there on Saturday and checked out the demo car. I even put a refundable deposit down just to get a spot in line. I worked with Shaun (internet guy). They are asking for 3k over MSRP, which seems ridiculous and I'm trying to find out if other people are seeing the same type of markup!

I was going to order the Limited 6MT.

TJatOneToyota 05-14-2012 06:08 PM

Please guy, don't pay a penny over MSRP.. I am here at OneToyota of Oakland and will do my best to get the car for you. My own inventory, we got 3 FR-S incoming. 2AT White, and Raven, 1MT Argento. No owner on anyone of these... And with only $500 refundable deposit, you will have the first right to refuse if somehow you did not want it. Those car should be hitting showroom floor anytime soon now. NO MARK UP - We are selling at MSRP the way it intended for Scion.

I have to retract my recommendation for Serramonte Subaru. They're absolutely sheisty; I should've asked for more info when I called but didn't get any hard details. They actually quoted another user on this forum $6k over MSRP... ridiculous.

I'd ask for your deposit back, honestly... your call though.

MRZ415 05-14-2012 10:10 PM

Yeah that place is like that, i bought my vw from them and its marked
4k above msrp, and i only talked them into msrp since i had a trade in.

soooopahfly 05-15-2012 07:05 PM

I probably will go get my deposit back from Serramonte. I just happened to be in San Jose yesterday and stopped by Capitol Subaru. I guess their allocation of 35 is already reserved so I got on some secondary list where I'm around #10. They aren't marking up there though.

If anyone in the bay area seriously hasn't put money down on a car yet, or is tired of other Scion dealers ****ing them around, get in touch with TJ at One Toyota. Just call him at the numbers he's listed in the posts.

Yeah but they have a ton of add-ons. Both MT cars have some crazy accessories. One is supposed to have like $1,000 worth of Stereo upgrades. I think the colors are Black and Asphalt. The other two are similar colors and AT, or so Will told me last we talked.

That sucks.. Where are you getting yours from?

slaxx 05-22-2012 04:12 PM

I'm #3 at Carlsen. MSRP, $500 down, refundable

Last I heard they have 17 allocated for the year and the sales manager is now asking $1k over MSRP, $1k down

I'm like 2nd or 3rd at Steven's Creek and I have my name and $500 on an Argento at One Toyota in Oakland as well. I'm going to back out of Steven's Creek at this point so that should bump you up unless you were one of the two ahead of me, but beware. I don't trust them any longer at this point. :(

Will, their specialist, was trying to get me to buy a TC at one point. Saying he drove the FRS and it was basically a TC. He then went on to say he and another guy on these forums named Jason went "way back." I talked to Jason and he was like "uh, who?" On top of that he basically said there is $1,000 mark up due to some custom subwoofer housing in the trunk of the cars they are getting. It's really a shame since I've had $1,000 down with them for a while now. I just don't feel comfortable buying from them. He also told me that I can't ask them not to drill the front plate holes in the bumper. They're just gonna do it anyway. Uh... yeah... I'm buying the front plate mount from Grimspeed.

On the other hand I also have been talking to TJ at One Toyota in Oakland who posts here.

TJ has been very straight forward, showed me their incoming inventory. Talked to me about what I wanted. The one MT they are getting this week or next has a rear appliqué, and I told him I didn't want that at all. He told me that if I didn't want it, no worries, and he'd try to work something out or see if they could remove it for me. Said that if I didn't like the car it's okay, and I could definitely get my deposit back, or wait for another one. TJ so far has been the best dealer in the south and east bay that I've talked to.

Your mileage may vary, but I'm going to put Steven's Creek on a blacklist at this point. :(

rcm47 05-22-2012 05:26 PM

Yeah stevens creek does seem pretty shady. Idk, if I can't get what I want now I'll probably just wait it out since I'm pretty much going to be gone most of June and July and a year long deployment end of august. Sucks how the dealers are using the hype of the car to rip people off.

denkigrve 05-25-2012 02:13 PM

So if you're on the list at Steven's Creek Scion you're now one slot closer to being able to buy the car. I just pulled my deposit there. I was 3rd in the list. They should be getting cars like next weekish. Will, the dealer, told me that they are doing a big launch event on the 9th and having audio people out to install the audio for the new owners and such. I heard something like 4 cars from them, but I'm not sure. He said all were already sold as well. He's not sure when their next batch is coming in after that.

Denk,

Why are you backing out? Just wondering.

pkny 05-26-2012 05:18 PM

I don't like Steven's Creek Scion, either. The saleman tried to talk me into the IQ. I told him I only wanted the FR-S, but the saleman kept pushing me to buy the IQ. Then, when I finally making him to put my name of the FR-S, he wrote FSR on his list. I told him I wanted the MT, he wrote down AT. WTF! The saleman basically just didn't want to listen to his customer. 0 point for Steven's Creek Scion.

I, then, went to quite a few dealers in the Bay Area. The experiences from most of those dealers were somewhat similar to Steven’s Creek. Some were a little bit better, and some were even worse except Fremont. Their Internet sale manager, Kris Mang, remembered my name from day one. He kept me well informed. Whenever he got new information about the FR-S, he would contact me. I ended up putting my deposit them. Over the time period, Kris kept me updated. He let me know my vin#, ETA date, etc. Fast forward to yesterday, Kris told me my car would be available to pick up next Thursday. Cannot wait!
