The most distinct feature of the 'copies' is that they are embossed with a ROTA marking on the face of the wheel, whereas the genuine ROTA [wheel] has none. They also come with a center cap bearing the 'ROTA Wheels' logo. They are packaged in plain brown boxes. Original ROTA wheels come with boxes that feature ROTA markings and 3D wheel drawings.

"ROTA Wheels undergo rigid testing using JWL/JWL-T standards to assure you that you are purchasing quality wheels. We cannot guarantee the safety of the copies so please be careful with your wheel purchases," said Michael Rojas, president of PAWI.

ROTA and its logo is a registered trademark of Philippine Aluminum Wheels, Inc.

Genuine ROTA Wheels are made proudly in the Philippines.

Wow--things are getting desperate when we're getting copies of copies... lol

SkullWorks 08-14-2013 02:16 PM

I'm not even sure where to go with this.

did you find this on the onion? it's almost too funny

infinite012 08-14-2013 02:25 PM

I think the Rota copies look better than the original Rota wheels because of the inclusion of the center caps and the embossed logo on the rim of the wheel.

Anybody else?

Its not the fact that its a "copy of a copy" its the fact that someone somewhere is using a different companies name for their product. Rota wheels are decent quality even if they do offer designs from higher end companies.

brianlo622 08-14-2013 02:33 PM

I'm not sure if the QC in the Philippines > in China.. with that said, I don't mind going to Jollibee though lmao

djdnz 08-14-2013 02:43 PM

Well though maybe ironic, at least we can be sure that Rota's go through the certification processes they stamp on the wheel.

We cannot be so sure about the "faux"tas (get it... get it...).

TrogDor the Burninator 08-14-2013 02:50 PM

I have people look at TE37SLs and ask me if I just bought the neon green sticker or if they are real ... I always laugh ... but the idea of someone asking someone if your Rota's are real makes me smile too ...

Cjymiller 08-14-2013 02:54 PM

The issue here is not that the style is being copied. The wheel industry is incestuous, and successful designs are often interpreted by different companies, both high and low end.

The issue is that Rota is developing it's brand and moving away from the crap wheels that they used to be, much like how Audi moved away from the crap cars they used to build in the 80's and early 90's. By having an outside company use their brand name and logos, Rota doesn't have control over the quality or consistency that (from the consumer perspective) is still associated with the original Rota brand. This is detrimental to Rota's company direction. If corporations are considered "people" what essentially is happening here is corporate identity theft.

Disclosure: I have Rota Grids

I think its bad generally to use someone else's name to profit, any name that you dont own. Its not rocket science to come up with a unique name and market it...

If this isn't Dai Or Mike Kojima posting for Yoshihara Design this is komical...no less true and not taking away from what you said...just funny.

the real funny thing is ROTA sn't proud of their name or they would put it on their wheels...but nobody wants to buy knock off volks that say rota...only the "new" breed of tuners would WANT ROTA emblazoned on their wheels...

I actually like the way the embossed Rota logo looks on the knockoffs.

? whats this got to do with Dai or Mike Kojima?

The fact remains that its never funny to knock off another name no matter their reputation...

Cjymiller 08-14-2013 03:23 PM

I agree, their new logo looks nice.
