Hey everyone,

I probably should have started a build thread a long time ago, but never thought I'd take it so far. This is my first tuner I've ever put together. Before this I had a Tacoma and since I was a kid I've always loved muscle cars. There's something about the FRS though that I love, which took me to the point to buy one. I actually never thought of getting ultramarine, but after having it and comparing it to other I love the color. Not too many people are building ultramarines. I'm just going to list all the modifcations that I have done so far and then list all the pictures. I'll try my hardest to put the mods and pictures in chronological order.

Modifications:
Center Gravity Springs
Work Wheels CR Ultimates - 18x9.5 +30 all around
Project Kics - Neo Chrome lugs
225/40/18 Falken Azenis
ARK Exhaust DT-S
JDM window visors - color matched by 2M Autowerks in San Diego
Motiv Concepts - Overpipe and testpipe
Beatsonic - shark fin antenna
Downforce Carbon Lip Kit - color matched by 2M Autowerks in San Diego
OEM markers - Color matched side markers
OEM Tail lights - clear red with clear cut out
Work Wheels Center Caps
RSR Black-i Coilovers
Rexspeed Carbon Spats - color matched by 2M Autowerks in San Diego

Still to come this week:
SBC camber bolts - front (this will allow me to go a little lower so I don't rub as much)
Beatsonic rook spoiler - color matched

Thanks Sebastian; it'll be a perfect fit to the styling of my build so far.

Wow, this is definitely one of the cleanest cars I've seen on the forums, nicely done.

Turbowned 08-12-2013 09:16 PM

Sexy! Obviously the best color, and great choice of aftermarket parts!

FRS1010 08-12-2013 09:17 PM

Looks great! Coilovers makes such a difference. Just bought some S-Techs and already want to ditch em for coilovers....lol

Thanx; you should go with RSR, either sport-i or black-i. You won't regret it. Sport if you're more into tracking all the time or black if you wanna go low but still maintain a great quality ride (better than stock). Black is still trackable and will give you great performance, it just isn't meant for the constant track days that some people do.

Looks beautiful man! Nice work! Man, this Downforce lip is looking more and more amazing when I see it. I may decide to go this route of a lip spoiler.

Thank you! :D It's a subtle lip, which is what I was going for. Subtle=timeless haha

Those tailights look awesome.

Seen your car around. Looks great!

bear89103 08-13-2013 05:10 PM

What are the two cups of? What type of paint is that for the tail light?

I believe the clear is PPG and I'm not quite sure what the red clear is. I'm not an expert on that, but if you want I can ask the body shop what the two were.

Sure. I'd love to know. I usually see people use the VHT nightshade to just spray on. So that's pretty foreign to me.

Sorry bro, but they would only tell me they used PPG clear.

No worries. Thanks for asking!

jedichimp 08-21-2013 02:37 PM

How much did it cost to get the taillights done?

Simply_the_best 08-21-2013 02:58 PM

Do you find the 9.5s up front rub at all when cornering?

SnapOv3st3r 08-21-2013 03:12 PM

Nicely done man..

$275, IMO well worth it compared to spending 500+ on after market stuff.

I rub now only when I'm turning and the suspension compresses. Other than that it doesn't really rub. I mainly have a few issues because I'm pretty low. When I was only lowered 1.4in I had no issues at all.

mfbmike 08-21-2013 06:58 PM

Your ride height and fitment are damn near perfect and what I want to achieve on my car.

BcRuZn 08-21-2013 07:17 PM

Your car is tastefully done SIR. Good choices

Thanx for the kind words. I actually recently went 5mm lower and cambered 1 degree in the front. Pretty much looks the same though.

Thanks for the swift reply on that. I don't plan to lower my car too much, just enough to put it back to stock height after I put 18" wheels on it (so about 1.5-2" total). Went ahead and ordered wheels today, as I got them for a steal. 18x8.5 up front, and 9.5 in the rear.

No problem; I got nothing but time at work haha. What wheels did you get? offset?

I ended up getting the Axis Sport Xfactor in graphite with the machined silver lip. They were marked way down, so I jumped on them. Haven't decided on tires yet, as I'd like to get the car lowered, the camber corrected, and an allignment done all at the same time. Plus, my stock tires are only 1100 miles old.
I may even decide to get the wheels re-done in flat black before I put tires onto them. Who knows!

mfbmike 08-22-2013 12:47 AM

So you say you only rub when turning during hard compression? I'm trying to get an idea of where I want to set my ride height when I get my suspension done.

I had a similar setup on my R32. Was able to drive the piss out of it without worry and only rubbed the inner fender liner on hard compression when up in NC and GA ripping up mountain roads. lol. Looking to accomplish the same with the FR-S.

Don't forget that my offset is the real reason why I rub to begin with. If had a more conservative offset like +38 than I wouldn't have any rubbing even at full compression.

Fair enough. Thanks.
