ft-86 speedfactory v2

Update: 8/14/13
ft-86 speedfactory replaced the exhaust pictured below no questions asked and sent me out a second exhaust at no charge.
the second exhaust had some small pin hole leaks in the welds but they were quick to sort it out and help come to an agreement on a proper solution.
I have been super impressed with the fact that they are a stand up shop and willing to admit they messed up.
Infact i am placing another order tonight will full confidence that if there is a problem they will handle it for me.

well i got my exhaust today...

i think my 3 year old could weld that well...
you cant see all the holes in the weld cause my phone sucks but you get the idea.

maybe i should have just built my own, need a new tig machine but i am so sick of crap welds on stuff i spend good money on.

JimmyMac 08-06-2013 07:39 PM

Send it back for a Tanabe single.

WHITE 08-06-2013 07:45 PM

How can this even be acceptable to ship out? Christ thats a disgrace.

mit_peid 08-06-2013 07:45 PM

Well I guess I have to state the obvious: FT86 Speedfactory doesn't have the highest quality welds. But I do wish there were more single exit options out there like the V2s.

yeah my thoughts exactly....

3000HP 08-06-2013 07:57 PM

that look like it had been welded by a blind man. i could do a better welds with my eye closed.

Ship it back and get another exhaust from another company like perrien.

Sorry man for your loss.

FT-86 SpeedFactory 08-06-2013 07:57 PM

My apologies, I can't stand over the person welding all the time and check his work. We will gladly take it back if not up to quality expected. We've been a bit rushed due to demand which is no excuse. We should just push back the delivery of them.

UPS label or Fed Ex can be sent out first thing in the morning to retrieve it if you wish. Not much more I can say.

1st issue we have had with these and I'll be chatting with the welder bright and early tomorrow.

-Jeremy

Shit Luck 08-06-2013 08:10 PM

send out the label as i need to get this sorted out...
i really want to be driving my car that is on jacks because i tore it down in anticipation of this exhaust arriving

mswhong 08-06-2013 08:13 PM

Maybe your name had something to do with it OP :P

same thing i was thinking. @FT-86 SpeedFactory will take of you. i know first hand, they are great and easy to deal with. they took care of me and i was glad i spent the extra money opposed to going with the cheapest guy..

Shit Luck 08-06-2013 09:07 PM

Well I am gonna try this again.
ft-86speedfactory is going to replace it for me.
hopefully the next one is a little better on the weld quality.

i can say with confident that the 2nd time will be the last time.. they will probably personally check it before it ships out. you have no worries my friend.. @FT-86 SpeedFactory pride themselves from customer service thats why their not the cheapest in town and trust me when i say that extra penny is well worth it.. your in good hands @Shit Luck.. update us when you get the replacement

Foobar 08-06-2013 09:22 PM

To be fair, the welds look similar to what is advertised on their website. It's good that Jeremy is taking care of you, but based on the pics on their site, it looks to be of similar weld quality.

I am hoping so, I originally ordered from them because of all the great feedback on here.

I honestly didnt look at the pics on their site, I checked out the build thread of their silver car and was planning to go a similiar route so i just went ahead and ordered. I wasnt expecting robot perfect tig welds but atleast a complete and consistant mig weld.

yea you'll be alright, they have all those good feedback because they earned it. shoot they sure as hell earned my positive feedback when my stuff comes in =)

Shit Luck 08-12-2013 10:16 PM

I am officially pissed off now... @FT-86_SpeedFactory
i wasted 3 hours tonight installing the second exhaust they sent me. to find leaking welds. pic of the bubbles blowing out of the weld at the v-band flange

JimmyMac 08-12-2013 10:57 PM

I told ya to send it back for the Tanabe, but No, you didn't listen!

Sucks to see that man. FT86 Speedfactory are usually good to deal with. But I cannot comment on their products.

Shit Luck 08-12-2013 10:59 PM

yeah well needless to say I feel like a total dumbass.
whats that old saying....
fool me once, shame on you.
fool me twice, shame on me.

mike the snake 08-12-2013 11:16 PM

Bummer.

I am surprised to see MIG welds instead of TIG. I guess MIG is faster for production.

If they were willing to work with you on overnight shipping costs maybe give them one more shot?

It does seem they are willing to stand behind their product, which in my book would warrant one last try.

OR, you might seek out a local welder who could spend 10 seconds and fix that for you and you'd be on your way. It's a weld, not a brain aneurism.

i get that, i didnt spend my money to have to weld it myself.
i didnt get any farther than that weld on my leak test either, i am betting more leak.

JimmyMac 08-12-2013 11:42 PM

I hate MIG welds. You could cash it in and go for this one. It's a little more though...

Shit Luck 08-12-2013 11:48 PM

i may just give up and build my own... i dont really have the time to mess with it but i have about given up on venders at this point(not my first issue with a vendor and welds)

HSC 08-13-2013 12:53 AM

that sucks. was shopping different single exits but know I won't be choosing this one. Good luck with the situation!

FT-86 SpeedFactory 08-13-2013 01:26 AM

This looked perfect and we sent photos before going out. Sorry it has a pin hole. We'll make sure you get a label when we get back to the shop and a full refund. We've had no other issues on these. My apologies for the trouble on this.

no quality control? awesome!
I can't believe how kids these days get fooled with gimmick parts with bullshit dyno graphs. :burnrubber:

your name says it all.

mike the snake 08-13-2013 08:10 AM

I didn't say anything controversial.

The snake is my racing nickname. It started 25 years ago and stuck, so I've run with it.

Shit Luck 08-14-2013 07:27 PM

update in first post.

Uh, what the fuck are you talking about? This is the first time I've heard of anyone being displeased with them. They are great to work with. While they are out testing other parts and releasing products that no one else has, you expect them to go through and inspect every single piece they send out? They made it right like they always do.

they are probably the best vendor to deal with IMO

not sure what you're talking about with the getting fooled by dyno graphs statement, doesn't really apply here... like, at all

Not dissing on you or anything, but I would expect a visual inspection on every single item they make. We do in the factory I work in. We send out millions and millions of seals and gaskets a month. But then again we are an OEM supplier for the major auto manufactures. So we have to meet the TS/ISO standards that the automotive industry has in place.

Anyways, I give Kudos to FT86SpeedFactory for awesome customer service and I very much appreciate the videos and pictures they provide on new products. I've ordered from them before and I will order from them again.

Wonderbar 08-14-2013 10:08 PM

Lots of trash talking by people who don't produce a single thing for anyone... This is a great vendor that makes great products. Sometimes shit happens and these guys will jump through thier asses to make it right. Hands down in the top vendors for the platform next to Perrin, fa20club, nameless and vortech.

Shit Luck 08-14-2013 10:19 PM

I would like to say that I probably over reacted prior to contacting them...
They really did a great job of taking care of the issue.

Dezoris 08-15-2013 12:05 AM

Its good to see they are just offering to fix or refund at this point, with no excuses. We all get some shit parts sometimes. Just get the refund and move on at this point but at least you know if you need other parts the service will be good. That's pretty rare on this site.

velin86 08-15-2013 02:37 AM

At least they are willing to respond and admit a mistake. They have A+ customer service in my book. Sucks for the OP to have to go through this, I'd be pissed too but more relieved knowing nothing really but my time was wasted. Props to FT86Speedfactory....

But once again quality control needs to be better from such a respected company.

mike the snake 08-15-2013 02:24 PM

After reading this thread, and seeing the parts in question, and seeing how the company dealt with the situation, I would definitely do business with this outfit, and probably will at some point.

The responses from the Speedfactory says a LOT about the company.

Shit Luck 08-15-2013 11:10 PM

by the way...
this thing does infact sound fucking awesome...:party0030:
