BRZ test drive invite

I received this email today from the dealer i bought my wrx from, i had put my name on a list showing my interes for the brz, and i got an email today stating that im invited to test drive it this saturday march 24th. Ill be calling tomorrow to find out if it is legit (that they actually have the car there and that this is not a marketing scheme to get people into the dealer).
Will keep you guys updated.

Not to be a bubble burster, but that reads as 'test drives' generally speaking.
No where does it specifically say you can test drive the BRZ.
Featuring could mean up on a pedestal surrounded by a velvet rope and no touchies ;-)

The good ol bait & switch

MRZ415 03-22-2012 03:53 AM

I will still go and test drive for starbucks card ...

Sportsguy83 03-22-2012 07:07 AM

That's the first dealer I went to try and pre-order it, but they had no clue. I also wrote my name on the list, but didn't get an email :-S

Lighting Red 03-22-2012 07:14 AM

Somehow, I've seen this thread before.

Well, aloretoc, excuse my cynicism but I hope you actually do get a test drive, and not just a ride-along like the other guy.

Dave-ROR 03-22-2012 07:55 AM

The same rep with the same car was just here. No test drives.

FYI, we've been discussing this Test Drive event in the Miami thread.

Won't be equivalent to the gas you spent just to go to the dealership unless you are within walking distance.

$20 gift car is at least 5 gallons. That is around 150 mile radius. :) So maybe 60-70 miles since you need round trip.

Turbowned 03-22-2012 12:48 PM

You can buy like 3 or 4 coffees with that. Yeah, totally worth it :laughabove:

Blaster 03-23-2012 12:25 AM

I posted this up in the Miami thread, let's hope we can actually drive the BRZ. Did you see what other cars they're bringing out? How boring.

MarkRacerX 03-23-2012 06:06 PM

Right on! Just to finally see a BRZ in person, coffee is just a bonus !!!

Dave-ROR 03-24-2012 12:44 AM

I confirmed this btw. It is a test drive event. For some reason the dealer getting 3 cars for the year gets to host it. Go figure. Sadly I can't make it own. Hockey game at 1:30 so Id have to leave by 9:05 lol

Well then. Never mind. Maybe Zgrinch will take advantage of this.

Saw this too late...and my day is full with kids events and it would be a 5 1/2hr drive for me.

My first test drive will be driving mine off the lot.

Sportsguy83 03-24-2012 09:50 AM

I called the dealer and John told me yeah, according to the invitation it will be a test drive event even the BRZ... This did not convince me because if you read the invitation is wrritten in certain way, to say like " The BRZ will be there, but this other cars are the ones you can test drive". So I went ahead and called the Starbuks where the car is actually going to be. The lady told me "I don't think they will allow people to drive the sports car, they will allow other cars though" So there you have it. I am working and am willing to leave work and come back but it's an hour away and if I'm not assured I can drive it, I've already sat on it so no point on doing it.

Now.... looking forward to someone saying they actually drove it so I can light a match and set myself on fire :bonk:

Update: John just called me back and what do you know... He told me don't come here man, no test drives for the BRZ so puzzle solved, I live another day :D

oh how pissed I would have been if I made the 5hr drive and not get a test drive. Oh well, for those going, get some pics and maybe they will let you sit in it, or maybe a passenger ride.

Have fun

I know! I was reading this thread, and reading about you guys coming down from Tampa or close by.... My GOD! I guess you would have had to spend the night at south beach or something. The Ultra festival is happening now so there's a lot of people around.

aloretoc 03-24-2012 11:07 AM

Yeah.... No test drive... But you can sit on it and "play" with it... Took some pictures of it... It's more beautiful in person than all the pictures I have seen... I love it

Glad you liked it. That is exactly how I felt sitting in the one at the Atlanta show.

This car cannot get here faster enough

tranzformer 03-24-2012 11:40 AM

Could they be any more vague? Trying to hype the car up with a "test drive event" where you can't drive it. Lol Happ Dave and Zgrinch didn't make the long trip for nothing.

No joke right...

Come on down and see the all new BRZ and test drive a Legacy.. Haha...

Oh well those boys will have fun sitting in it today, because that is what absolutely confirmed my decision to preorder the BRZ

I know... Supposedly it could not be test driven because the car showed is still a pre production version.

Whenever possible, can you upload pictures and review your feel of the car?

Blaster 03-25-2012 01:40 AM

The shiftknob broke lol, let's hope that's a preproduction problem only.

Sportsguy83 03-25-2012 07:20 AM

LOL!! How did it happen? Or was it already broken when you saw it?

The shift pattern was already broken off when I sat in the car. He just placed it back on for the event I'm sure.
