FR-S Price Poll: Are you still in, or are you out?

Well now that we know what the pricing will be how about a poll so we all know where we stand?

A Gomez 03-21-2012 11:47 PM

I think another option is missing.

No, and I will wait for a while for another vehicle instead of buying something else right now

Sasquachulator 03-22-2012 01:12 AM

you need a "No, I refuse to give anyone my money until someone provides me with a $20,000 (NO MORE) RWD sports coupe big enough to fit 4 6 foot adults, handles like a cayman, weighs 2500 lbs, has Automatic dual zone HVAC, HID's and fog lights as standard, leather/alcantera heated seats (options), 250-300hp turbo engine without DI, is not a parts bin car, and has a real badge on its hood"

poormans_LFA 03-22-2012 01:18 AM

bravo

titusdrake 03-22-2012 03:21 AM

hmmm. needs a "idk" option...lol i want to drive it more and see all the standard features on fr-s..i think its overprice honestly..should be 1000 less..throw in the Bespoke and thats another 500-1000 and a spoiler for another 400 and your like 28 out the door...its an amazing car for sure but i don't know if its 28k amazing..like i said..i need to drive it more. also ill probably have to shell out 700 for a aftermarket driving seat to better accommodate my big ass

note: I'm hoping the First 86 will have stuff on them for free...like the Bespoke and/or spoiler, ground effects kit, interior lighting..ANYTHING gimme something Scion...the 4 day trip is great, id love extras on the car though for sure

maxeveland 03-22-2012 11:34 AM

still depends on accessories, OTD Price, those additional costs. See whether or not brz will be better bang for buck

Dave-ROR 03-22-2012 11:38 AM

After the US FR-S specs were released I stopped being In for the FR-S :) Still waiting on BRZ pricing though.

mines13 03-22-2012 11:42 AM

Still in, price is fair all thing considered. This car is down right cheap really in my opinion. Hell, look at the rest of the world.

preetham 03-22-2012 02:02 PM

I do think the price if fair, however higher than i am willing to pay for a track toy. I am going to wait a buy used. My reasoning are the following:
1. Toyota has decided to crank up supply.
2. Most drivers will prefer power (an easier feeling for most regular folk to relate to) over handling. They will endup selling once sooner or later.
3. Most track folks will still buy miata until they can get a used fr-s. But there are again a few and will not impact used car prices. There are hard tops availalbe for miatas.
4. A few people have high expectations out of the back seats and will end up selling.
5. Media and online forums have hyped up the interest in the car. True demand is unlikely to match the hype.

Might buy a used 350\370z for the track until the hype cools off. Will surely buy the FR-S (depends on the test drive), but just a year later.

Saber_TRD 03-22-2012 02:02 PM

I'm out till Toyota releases a sports car under Toyota and not Scion.

A Gomez 03-22-2012 02:11 PM

I would be curious to see a poll for only those who already put down deposits. Once the prices for BRZ come out, another poll for BRZ, too.

M&M_Hwy9 03-22-2012 02:13 PM

Missy & I are still in, for now.

cyde01 03-22-2012 02:15 PM

yes, but i'll be waiting a while. would be waiting a while even if it was 21k. :(

neveronlinefrs 03-22-2012 02:53 PM

I am in, I need to wait a bit to gain some positive equity in my current car then Ill get one.

I think the price is good though and not overpriced like many are saying. I dont see how you could of truely expected it to be less (other than by hopes and dreams)... I think it offfers a lot for what you get at the ,id 20K prive point.

Having said that I think the BRZ might have some issues unless they can really market the exclusiveness of their rare(er) version of the scion (which wont be rare so that kind of makes it a mute point when the average Joe wont be able to tell the two cars apart). If they come in at 30K or higher there are too many better options and would make me go elsewhere... Since all the info I have seen state the Subie will be at least a few thousand higher, its limited version may see close to a 30K sticker :(

And is built from a mixture of 100% post-consumer materials, clouds and pixie dust in a zero-emissions facility, with 0% financing and I get a puppy of my choice, or I'm OUT!

something funny i've noticed about all these push starts?

for some cars you still have to stick the keyfob inside some slot on the dash......what the hell is the point of that?

_hollywood 03-22-2012 03:49 PM

First 86er im all in,

I dont see another car like this coming out for awhile
My truck gets 16 mpg and has 168k on the clock
I dont want one of these used because im sure it will be driven hard
This car is exactly what i want and im not worried about creature comforts.

And honda has nothing new that excites me anymore....

The older Prius without smart key was like that. Every other Toyota/Lexus/Scion model isn't.

Other brands are different obviously.

BMW and Mini you dont have to, but there is a slot where you're supposed to put the keyfobs....its more of a key holder so you dont have your fob just toss into a storage bin in the car....plus it'll recharge the battery in the key from there i think.

and they're right next to the push start button so it makes no sense to have them lol.

Jeff Lange 03-22-2012 04:40 PM

I just leave it in my pocket. Why would I take it out of my pocket? Haha.

Jeff

OldSkoolToys 03-22-2012 04:44 PM

Buying used....was probably gonna go that route anyways, unless it came in under 23k, which was a pipe dream.

In the end, its still an investment....there's no emotional attachment (yet) like with my 86...the real 86.

Being a business major, I've ran the numbers already on numerous scenarios. For my current financial situation, I really need a ~$350 monthly payment. Putting more down on a new car will do that, but it doesn't weigh out total investement compared to its depreciation.

yadda yadda yadda, it might be a year, might be 6 months...depends on how fast one (MT) hits the local Toyota used lot.

Lonewolf 03-22-2012 05:09 PM

The price is almost exactly what I expected...no shock to me.

If the test drive impresses me as much as I believe it will, the car will be in garage soon.

SVTSHC 03-22-2012 05:11 PM

I think it's a fair price and as it stands I'm still unsure. I love all the positive feedback we're getting from test drivers so my decision is going to be made after I test drive the FRS, BRZ, Gen Coupe, Focus ST, and 50th anniversary mustang 5.0. In other words I'm likely not going to buy till 2014

A used FRS or new one in 2014? I'm sure used FRS's in 2014 will go for 18-20k.

That's to be determined, might be more worth it to buy used if it does drop to somewhere in that price range. Hype sells though, and this also seems like one of those cars people are going to beat on pretty hard... so I can't say for sure if I'd be interested in a used one atm.

xrs 03-22-2012 06:35 PM

How bout the jumping ship from FRS to BRZ if BRZ starts near $25,000 category?

Until everyone realizes that the jump only makes sense with the more expensive Limited model.....

Because well the Premium is more or less identical to the FRS......

So you use accessory without turning the car on?

but couldnt that just happen if the fob is in range (inside the car) and you just press the start button?

Since you always have to hold the brake down and hold the start button for a few seconds before it actually turns on.

Jeff Lange 03-22-2012 08:08 PM

Press on button once: Acc
Press on button twice: On
Press on button again: Off

Hold brake (AT) or clutch (MT) and press (not hold) on button: Engine Start

There is never a need to do anything with the key except have it in the car.
