FRS bumper on BRZ, possible?

Anyone knows if this is possible? Has anyone done that?

I'm getting a '14 BRZ very soon, but I want the FR-S bumper instead. Mainly because the body kits I'm considering are available only for the FRS front bumper (the rest is the same).

Note: In case you wondering, if you make some math, it's actually easier and cheaper to change a front end to make it look like the FRS, rather than trying to emulate the BRZ options that don't come in the FRS. The headlights of 86 alone will cost upwards $1000.

Edit: my bad :bonk:

It is possible as they are both the same car. Difference Is the spacers in the headlights assuming.

Jhood168 did it to his car:

The headlights are exactly the same size, the only difference is in how the bumper is around the headlights (the brz's number covers the lights slightly the FRS number meets them at the edge). You can swap bumpers without issue, the only "issue" will be losing your LED DRL's.

Your probably better off looking for a Scion 10 Series FR-S...

I will trade you bumpers.

No he wouldn't. Leather/Heated Seats, Heated Mirrors, Nav, Stitched parking brake boot and handle are all missing from the FR-S

AVodka14 08-04-2013 12:29 PM

Let's confirm this again. THE HEADLIGHTS ARE THE SAME SIZE ON BOTH CARS!

@Art_Mighty 08-04-2013 12:35 PM

Also doesn't the BRZ limited come with that homelink mirror thingie?

It's a factory option, I had mine added at port.

Thanks for the replies, turns out after some more research, it's actually possible and some guys have done it.

Reason I don't get the 10 series is because what a poster above mentioned PLUS (and this is the main reason) Dealerships are CRAZY with the markups they are placing on 10 series.

I actually went in this past week to the biggest Scion dealer in Houston and made him an offer as I was going to buy the car right away (I would've) and he refused, he wouldn't come down one cent of his "reduced price" of $30950, he was actually asking $31850. The MSRP of that car is $28150, and I would pay a little more, but definitely not more than the BRZ Limited.

Here in Austin is even more ridiculous, their asking price for a 10 series FRS is over $32000. And that is a 2013 model, so I rather just wait and get me a BRZ from Clint and change the bumper, it would cost me less and still have Navigation, the spoiler and the more respected Subaru badge.

That makes sense. Scion "Pure Price" is pure BS... I recommended the 10 Series because you are in Texas and I figured you would not care about heated seats/mirrors. But not for those crazy prices.. These cars are not worth $30K plus...

Yes sir, Hass is the one that doesn't want to come down. Then I went by another one in South West Houston, forgot the name, but that one didn't have a manual.

I know, I thought that was supposed to be Scion's policy, but who knows, maybe because it's a special edition?

I'll keep looking around, I'll check that dealership you mentioned, thanks.

I stand corrected, sorry 'bout that. I swear I read that they were different in size here as well before, but didn't double check.

Wow, that's a ridiculous mark up. I bought mine for something like $100 over MSRP (stupid no haggling rule...). Heated mirrors and seats are a non-issue in Atlanta. I had fully intended to buy a 2014 WRB BRZ when it got released before I came across the 10 Series.

Pretty sure if you called Scion HQ they would get that pricing fixed for you.

I would think it's possible since the FRS-to-BRZ conversion is plug-n-play pretty much. But I haven't seen or read of anyone doing a BRZ-to-FRS bumper yet.

I haven't done mine yet, my BRZ is set to arrive late September. But I'll be heading to the Scion dealership today to quote the full bumper.

pm sent, let me know if you still want to trade

I'm still looking to trade my frs bumper for a brz nose

Frstorm 09-01-2013 06:15 PM

Gt- It may be cheaper now but in the future it won't be. Not to mention you either have to take it to a good place, lots of money, for the install or get the gap that everyone who does it on their own gets. Not to mention the paint for this also. As of now I can get everything I could want from the brz for under 1500 including HID. My thing is I don't want to do maybe body work. Nothing ever comes out the same way once you start doing this. As of now, I've only done mods that I would need to do in the brz anyways. I figure in 12 months I can get everything one could want for under a thousand. You prefer the frs style go with an frs since there are more differences I prefer in the frs to BRZ.

gt8613 02-05-2014 11:48 AM

you should have asked em if scion was aware of their prices (the pure price policy) and that you felt cheated and were not happy.

Can I just change the black smiley looking bumper piece of the BRZ to the FRS piece? Not the whole bumper just the black mesh?
