To: All Scion Dealers March 20, 2012 Subject: 2013MY Scion FR-S Price Announcement Scion is pleased to announce the starting price of $24,200 for the highly awaited 2013MY Scion. FR-S which will arrive at Scion dealerships in June. Even with DPH, the starting price is still under $25,000! 2013MY Scion FR-S Highlights: This high performance sports car is the fifth model to join the Scion family. Inspired by the Toyota AE86, FR-S is designed around the core goal of achieving, “Pure Balance.” This balance begins with the use of the world’s only front-engine, rear-wheel drive configuration using a flat boxer engine. Some of the great standard features on FR-S include: • 2.0 liter, 200 horsepower, naturally aspirated four-cylinder boxer engine • Toyota’s cutting edge D-4S injection system with direct and port injection • 6-speed manual transmission that offers quick precise shifts with a short throw • 6-speed automatic transmission with rev-match and steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters • Torque Sensing Limited Slip Differential • 17-inch alloy wheels and ventilated disc brakes FR-S’s interior ****pit instantly exudes a “sports car” feel. The front sports seats are shaped to accommodate manual shifting and support longitudinal and lateral G-force. The leather wrapped 3-spoke sports steering wheel, utilizes the smallest diameter in the Scion lineup. The idea of “Pure Balance” is further realized by FR-S’s lightweight design and compact size. This allows the car to be quick and nimble into and out of corners. This combination is further proof that Scion is truly “Bringing the Sport Back to the Car.” The FR-S will be available in seven colors including Raven, Asphalt, Hot Lava, Argento, Ultramarine, Firestorm and Whiteout. Pricing Summary Documents: MSRP for the FR-S six-speed manual and six-speed sequential automatic transmissions are $24,200 and $25,300 respectively. lol ... so high
Could be legit...I was within a couple hundred of the price I called months ago
Thanks for sharing, under $25k was rumor and glad they kept to it! Just not much under..
Hoping First 86 will be May? If norm is June? |
hello Volester turbo and Genesis Coupe.
could be legit, got a email from my scion guy saying scion is telling him june 1st is sale date
Looks legit! I had a feeling it was going to be under 25K
No source, no believe...

hmm, this is a little higher than I'd like. I wonder how this impacts the BRZ pricing. If the BRZ comes in at 25k like the rumors seem to say, then... no one will buy the FR-S. But most likely, we'd just see the BRZ be more like 26k/28k. :( |
Too high. Puts the base BRZ even higher than anticipated; no good.
why is auto option cost so much? i wish it's a no-cost option like BMW 3 series.

I'm not going to believe it yet. If it's true, that will be a bit disappointing considering that it isn't noticeably cheaper than the upcoming 2013 GC.
Ya I am dissapointed with that price. I was thinking frs-22/24 brz 25-27.
Sounds believable, undercuts 2013 gen coup (barely), after all is said and done the out of pocket expense is over 27K, way to high for me but ill bet the broader market will accept it. Veloster turbo just started looking slightly better.
Too high... If its true then I rather wait for a used one
attach the original to avoid being called out bluff
no source = lock + delete thread
we have enough price speculations out there. |
500 too high imo. Hopefully the Brz will be 25400/27400 but I'm starting to grow doubtful.
Oh god please be the Canadian price. I'm test driving a 2013 GC 2.0T this afternoon.
if it holds we'll know tomorrow, official announcment 3.22?
yeah brz with all the extras for 1k more seems very doubtful right now...
Yay for a new forum account with 1 post posting "information from Scion!"
How many times is that now? AND, for those of you that are interested in all the leaked information... cars101.com posted this a few days ago, but there's a youtube video of a marketting dude from Subaru that actually SAYS that they purposefully seed blogs and internet media with information leaks to generate hype. :paddle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=lrD0Rufr1wY |
This info is legit, I got word on the same pricing this morning. It will be officially released tomorrow.
Doh: "Pricing will be announced to the public on Thursday, March 22, 2012. Please keep this information confidential until Thursday, March 22, 2012. Pricing details will be available in the Scion FR-S Price Guides posted in the “Secure Area” for Dealer Principals on Dealer Daily." And so it's not just text here are some pictures from the Scion iQ Ride-and-Drive event that was put on on Saturday at K1 Speed Irvine. I was limited on what I could get on account of the rain, wind, and sweet velvet rope. It was a lot of fun, free karting, free food, iQ ride-along on the kart track and small ride-and-drive track outdoors. I meant to check the fenders for shape/flatness but I totally forgot. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7085/6...24fbf62d_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7244/7...6fb97850_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7193/6...711c8a1b_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7138/6...caac6667_b.jpg http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6233/6...c100cc34_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7228/7...51d55943_b.jpg |
Booo. Too high. :brokenheart: :( :mad0260::thumbdown:
If it holds true, I should be receiving a call from my local dealership tomorrow to come in and throw money at them.
$24,200? Too much for a starting price. Fully loaded would've been nice but this car just isn't worth it to me.
Ugh. If that is true, I don't think I want to know the pricing for my BRZ Limited... :(
^ yes if the FR-S is 24, then the top of the line BRZ would be 28/29 i think?
I'm the only one thinking "dang that's cheap" apparently. Maybe it helps that I was also thinking about 2008 Cayman S or Z06.
Flame suit donned. Brett |
That's definitely cheap when you compare it to those kinds of cars. I checked the Tc and DPH is $730. We're talking almost $25,000 for a base model Scion. When you look at it like THAT, it's not so cheap anymore...
Since I don't want to go to Scion jail for revealing information that Scion would like to keep to themselves an extra day, I'm going to hold off with to much source info.
I can tell you all I've been involved with Scion since 2004 and you all only have to wait a day to verify what I've posted. For the record it too am a little disappointed with the price but, I still think we will sell as many as we can make the first year or so. |
I Just got the same email from my dealership.... its Legit..... i'm also not that shocked about the price too..... was hopeing for 22k-24k

Thanks for confirming! This helps solidifies the OP even though it wasn't supposed to be announced until tomorrow! :happy0180: Quote:
:word: I was looking at the STI and 370Z Nismo prices so seeing it being under 25K is actually a blessing in disguise! |
u see $25k is not expensive if it was 300hp and 0-60 5.4 sec.
I bet tomorrow they're gonna say 23,200 and make us all scion lovers for life
