Nice post! :happy0180:

Brett 03-21-2012 01:35 PM

Maybe someday we will see a video of this car on a track NOT sliding. It's not the fastest way around the track after all.

Brett

bambbrose 03-21-2012 01:36 PM

I wish they would just drive the car around the track fast. I was all excited at first when the black car started, but then it turned into a little showboat video with music.

We need to get Best Motoring in on this

This.

neutron256 03-21-2012 01:41 PM

Anyone else notice they showed a wheel in the back, but you only see one wheel?

dsgerbc 03-21-2012 01:43 PM

I didn't make it to the middle of the video. Horrible wing, horrible music, stupid sliding.

Want.FR-S 03-21-2012 01:43 PM

^#7. that is supposed to be the way to carry 4 wheels to the track, but I guess they only show one wheel.

DantKR 03-21-2012 01:45 PM

Am I the only one that HATES that paint with the glitter sparkly crap in it? I WILL NOT be getting black pain like that. I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE IT!

Turbowned 03-21-2012 01:48 PM

Yes, I'll be going to the track on the stock wheels with Prius tires... :bs:

Real drifters only need one wheel.

WingsofWar 03-21-2012 02:04 PM

My cousin is next to me...soon as the video started he said "Fanboi video to hype up fanboi car" :bellyroll: its hard not to agree with him on this one.

I need to see a real racing showcase video..basically this video below..except with an FRS or BRZ.

Epic!

Brett 03-21-2012 02:09 PM

Glad it's not just me. I was beginning to feel like and old man yelling at the kids to get off his law.

Yes, it sure is a shame they are having fun in a sporty car :-s
This thing is going to be outpaced by pretty mcuh every other RWD competitor - except the MX5 Miata - so they better be enjoying themselves because if you are concerned about the fastest way around a track the FRS/BRZ is the wrong car for you.

ZetaVI 03-21-2012 02:16 PM

I was expecting an all inspiring racing video but got hey look we are coming soon to Formula D. It's still cool video nonetheless but I gotta say they have to do more than just drifting.

Fox 03-21-2012 03:44 PM

come on people, relex and enjoy! :) Great footage!

nipponpower 03-21-2012 05:49 PM

Nice video. Nothing wrong with drifting..If Nascar was about drifting left the whole time Id watch it more often :)

Then no one will ever finish the race.

Vid was great... I think most of us got bored of seeing that FRS drift. For me, I didn't mind watching it.

BTW, no one notice that, Ken's FRS body was still stock? I don't think it was widebody also it still had turn sig on the front bumper... or am I just crazy?

I so wanted to do that 22B front bumper w that lip... but found out how much it's gonna cost, I gave up

viper_driver 03-21-2012 08:35 PM

I like it. Way to go Scion, at least it's something.

The music killed it for me. :(

I am with you (just not as intensely :) ). I never understood metallic black. It ALWAYS looks dusty.

As far as the drifting haters:

1) It is their target market (at least image-wise) and tries to make Scion look more "extreme" and "performance oriented" so us enthusiasts forget about their other cars.

2) It emphasizes the RWD nature of the platform.

3) It makes a pretty slow car (stock) look like it is going fast. Getting a "grip" car to look like it is right on the edge (like WOW's video) is a lot harder to do visually that just grabbing the eBrake

Finally, I just have to say Scion/Greddy need a much better livery designer!

switchlanez 03-22-2012 04:26 PM

The editing was done pretty well and is effective at hyping up the FR-S and the drift event. Price leaks and vids like this after months of nothing but drought coming down the pipe are always welcome.

catharsis 03-22-2012 04:47 PM

Maybe it's just me but I feel like drifting needs to stay in rally. I'd much rather see the fr-s actually doing laps, not just sliding around at Laguna Seca.

Rampage 03-22-2012 05:10 PM

I am pretty sure that the FR-S/BRZ will be competitive in its class at SCCA and NASA events as long as they do not have oiling issues with the Subaru engine. Hopefully, someone will campaign them in the Continental Tire ST class where they can run against Minis, Miatas, Mazda3s, 1 series BMW, Civics and the like.

Drifting is OK. It is kind of like Monster trucks to me. What I really want to see is this car on a road race couse at speed.

_hollywood 03-22-2012 05:19 PM

I think the Video is great...we will see plenty of roadcourse action once this car hits the streets....

ft86Fan 03-22-2012 05:32 PM

Like everybody else here I'm getting a little tired of drifting. I respect the set of skill required for drifting but enough is enough. Every videos we've seen so far with the FT-86 involves going sideways. I'm getting one as a track car so please show us what it can do on the track without sliding please.

blur 03-25-2012 12:50 AM

Guys, just recently we had a good track vid of the HKS 86.

^ Nice one. Thanks for the video.

Yea would have been nice if the music was a little lower in volume.

switchlanez 03-26-2012 12:12 PM

That HKS 86 was fun to watch. Makes me want to fire up GT5 and run around Tsukuba to see if I can hit 1:07 lol. Sucks they had to pull the fuses because they couldn't find a way to fully switch off the TCS or VSC which also turns off ABS.

Saibot 03-26-2012 02:27 PM

Anyone know where to find more pics of the car in the OP video? I like it much more than the actual GReddy car...

NemesisPrime909 03-26-2012 03:36 PM

you know...Taniguchi is working on the HKS 86, Orido's got his V8 monster, I wonder what Tsuchiya was planned

because I'm sensing BMI gunsai battle between the 3 racers

Ive been watching the 3 of them race all week on classic touge videos! I hope he has something in mind Tsuchiya is easily of my favorite drivers because he gives such great feedback about a car and how it should perform. Orido's always pretty quiet unless he's uncomfortable about something which is usually speed from what i can tell.
