Cars that make you say "Thats it?"
Recently i stumbled upon a V12 AC Cobra replica on speed hunters, the 6.0L V12 custom supercharged engine only made 492HP at the wheels (600HP crank), i can't help but feel that number to be so low for a big engine like that.
But of course, i'm sure the car is stupid fast. Link: http://www.speedhunters.com/2013/07/...the-v12-cobra/ |
HP is nothing but a number
I've been in some huge hp cars and thought that it didn't deliver as well as some moderate HP I swear the owners are lairs. There a local here that runs a 4.2TT 350z and he can make over 1000HP but never runs that map ever cause its useless for just about everything other than "I make more hp than you" after looking at the article it really seems to me that Cobra is about response than huge power. I want a ride! |

Eagle Speedster - Once I saw it on Top Gear and saw it in person last month I fell in love. I am not a convertible person by any means, but this car reminds me of Marilyn Monroe- classically beautiful forever.

When I heard the name "Celebrity" I thought it would at least be flashy.

Toyota has a V12 engine (i think 5.0L) that only makes 276hp......

I don't know if anyone else shares this opinion, but to me, this car is absolutely perfect in everyway. For me, this car is the one that makes me think "That's it. That's all I want." It's not the absolute best at everything, but it is just perfect, and beautiful.

I don't think you guys are thinking of the right "That's it". OP means, "That's it? I was expecting more." As in, a negative connotation.
"That's it!" is another thing entirely... But perhaps this thread can be both? Whats your "That's it?" and whats your "That's it!"? |

Stock fox-body 5.0L mustangs. You'd think with 5 liters to work with and "HO" in the name, they'd make more than 220 hp.
Also agree with the comment above naming the Twins. I bet there's a lot of non-enthusiasts out there who see the low-slung RWD shape and think it's going to be making serious hp, then are like "that's it?" when they see 200 hp. |

2011 Rav4 gave me this "thats it?" feeling. I was in the market for a family car, and went to a Toyota dealership to find a sales man that REAAAALLLY did a good job hyping up the car compared to its market segment. When i test drove it expecting something great, it turned out sloppy, dull, numb, i didn't feel in control, and that made me worry about the saftey of my family.
I felt more control and safer in a 2000 Legacy wagon, despite its lack of features compared to the Rav4. Which i ended up buying. |

And you must not remember the mid-70s Caddy & Lincoln behemoth 460-500ci engines that were barely 200hp--and some may have actually been rated under 200, but that was too long ago... |

FRS/BRZ is understandable, it's a 2.0L flat four, i can't expect more then 200HP NA.
But a big V8 from the 70's regulation era? The C3 Vette with 350ci producing 165HP? Damn... |
Any mod and boost-happy car guy looking at the Bugatti's engine specs must think "that's it?"

Before I knew anything about horsepower and torque I watched an e46 M3 launch and rip it up to 60. I definitely said "that's it??"
Had a eureka moment when I figured out that high hp low torque cars make awesome road racers. |

You can find him at mostbof the nissan meets |
Those old engines shouldn't be looked down on, sure they're huge and barely make any HP but that's the best they could do back then with the little technology they had and crushing emission regulations that had just recently come out. Most of them didn't even have fuel injection yet and they were still trying to work out how to make power on un-leaded fuel.
Go boot up a computer from 1975 and compare it to your cell phone which is a fraction of the size and several orders of magnitude more powerful and efficient. Same idea. |
