Trunk opening after "spirited" uturn.
So my trunk doesn't fully open, but it opens enough for my door ajar light to come on and stay on until I either go over a speed bump or open and close the trunk. It happens whenever I do a hard uturn. And I can only assume it would happen when i do donuts, but I would never do anything like that... It definitely occurs pretty much every time I do a "spirited" uturn. Does this happen to anyone else?
|
Mine did it a couple times now, both when I hit a speed bump at normal speed, and both when I'm carrying something bulky in the trunk (possibly it pulled that glow-in-the-dark handle inside it).
Someone suggested to keep the trunk locked with that button thing inside it, but meh.. |
Oh I didn't even think about something hitting the escape hatch thing lol thanks!

Hostages don't appreciate U turns. You just need to be more considerate. Maybe throw some pillows back there as well...
|
I like how the word "spirited" is now used, instead of drove like an ass hole.

never happened to me even after hitting some crazy bumps at full speed on the
Belt Parkway in NY |
Happened to me a few weeks ago. I took one of my favorite roads with one curve that had some pretty bad washboarding. My dash light came on and I pulled over and sure enough it was open. Hasn't happened since.
|
Hmmmm could it be a faulty latch?
|
Yea I think it was something hitting the escape handle. When I looked at it yesterday it wasn't clicked into its holder so it was kinda drooped down right where my backpack could reach so I snapped it back into place and took my backpack out. It hasn't happened again since.

You could just take the emergency handle off...That way it won't open from the inside anymore, and your hostages can't escape lol

make sure the pull handle is locked in place,.. it should snap into place...

I thought I was going crazy one week when that happened to me twice a day...to and from work.
Then I realized when I put my book bag face down the straps would pull the glow handle for the emergency release when shifted around back there. It now rides on the floor in the passenger side. Turns out I was not crazy, just blonde. |
That emergency trunk handle is extremely sensitive I think. I've had it pop open on the interstate, through town... just about everywhere when I have something back there. Plastic bags and my golf clubs love to snag the thing. I thought about taping it back but shudder at the thought of using something as crude as duct tape on my precious.

I've had this happen many times, it's definitely from something in the trunk hitting the button.
|
One time when doing a spirited turn, my shoes & my sunglasses fell off!
j/k--probably as stated above w/ something inside hitting button. |

It's probably something hitting the button on your keyfob. I disabled the function because I was opening the trunk by mistake. It hasn't occurred since.

My hostages always seem to make their escape over the rear seat, none have tried the emergency handle.
|
Happened to me 3 times in the last 3 days. I just hit 1000miles and started driving the car. I thought I was going insane . Speed bump closed it the other day.
|
My trunk opens everytime I fart.
