My wife cussed me a few times in a row (seriously) the night I bought the car. Reason one is that she would rather that I bought it for her, but I traded my truck for it. Reason two is that she felt it was impractical vs. the truck.

You've got a keeper.

I'm still stocked. She actually loves the car as much as I do though.

Thanks for making this thread man. I showed it to my wife, now she's buying me a track day for my birthday :D

Mikem53 07-24-2013 08:56 AM

Very cool.. Having a significant other who is understanding of our love for cars is a good thing..
My wife likes the FRS but doesn't care to drive it.. After 39 years of marriage.. She's understanding of my car addiction... I mentioned the other day that I saw a go-fast mod for my car that I'm interested in, the innovate SC kit.
She said, so.. Go buy it.. It will be an early birthday gift.. Nice huh..
Maybe it was the fact that she just got back from a 2 week vacation in Europe with her sister.. Which cost me more than the damn blower...
Be careful.. These spouses have their ways of getting even... And then some!

You guys need to wise up and run separate bank accounts. She makes her money, I make mine. We go half on bills. I buy what I want, she buys what she wants. Everyone's happy and no one has to ask for "permission" to buy anything. Eliminating the money problem makes for a happy marriage.

Deep Six 07-24-2013 09:53 AM

I bought my FRS from a friend after a several day test drive. Before I had even signed the papers, my wife had already ordered a Seibon hood.

Mister 07-24-2013 10:05 AM

I have had similiar times with my fiance, for Christmas last year she gave me a shift kit and CAI for my MS3. And she is also the one who got me to buy a FRS.
After a couple years of hearing me talk about how I eventually wanted an FRS/BRZ as a project, one Sunday my fiance told me to quit talking about it, we are going to a dealer TODAY and getting the car TODAY so I could drive what I wanted. 6 hours later I was driving my Firestorm FRS :-p

I also have a full Google Spreadsheet with my part wishlist, complete with links. It is shared with her, so if she is not getting me Bruins/Patriots/Celtics/Red Sox tickets, she goes there for any gift giving needs.

Apparently his route between work and home is downhill both ways.

On the original topic, I haven't gotten one yet because I'm waiting to see if there are any significant changes in the 14 models, but I already have permission to throw the warranty to the wind and supercharge the thing.

Frstorm 07-24-2013 12:06 PM

She has a list of parts from me and she came up with her own list. hopefully within two years my moding will be complete. i wanna change out the lights for hid/led, shark fin antenna, red carbon fiber the dock and steering wheel, trd cool intake, trd exhaust yeah I have the extended warranty, the red trd brake pads because I have the firestorm, debating the trd black rims or keep the stock rims, and racing seat belts. I think separate bank account works for some but I firmly believe we should have same account since she takes care of paying the bills, well 95% of bills are auto drafted anyways. If I can't trust someone with my money why am I marriage to her plus she hardly says no but she does say if you want this then you can't have that.

This is my policy for any relationship. no joint accounts, make sure the bills are paid and responsibilities are taken care of.

I freaking love joint accounts, but then again, my wife makes five times what I do.
I really need to go back to school.

Frstorm 07-25-2013 02:36 PM

Just looked at when it should arrive, aug15-20 coming from Japan. Can get the legit one directly from Japan for 98 dollars. Plus you by pass the middle man with like the 20 dollar mark up. Waiting on shipping sucks but at least I know no moisture will get in.

This is how I am with my wife. I pay most of the bills because I make more, but as far as free extra cash goes, we have the same.

I feel bad for some of those guys whose entire paycheck goes into a joint account, the wife takes 95% and gives them $100 a week or some stupid shit like that.

HotLavaMann 07-26-2013 01:30 PM

My "Best Wife Ever Story" : I was riding my motorcycle to work and she said "what type of a sports car would you drive if you weren't riding a motorcycle?" ... so I went out and order the ordered the FR-S.

CharlieChaos 07-26-2013 01:40 PM

My wife was very pissed off I bought the FRS and told me she could have dealt with the WRX since it was a 4 door. That being said she bought me a bunch of the JPM Coach interior pieces anyway lol.

My last car I came home one day and she had a forum opened and said are those what you were looking for? I said yes and she said happy birthday now we need to drive to NY to pick up your new hood and various other parts

Frstorm 07-27-2013 03:01 PM

Update from Japan, part shipped yesterday and should arrive in the US within 7 days. I ordered them off eBay through a Toyota dealer in Japan. I paid 98 dollars and free shipping. These are OEM so no moisture problem should occur like if you go through helix. The American supplier charges more for these through eBay but you get them a week earlier but not a dealer. I prefer to go as closely to the manufacturing as possible which seems to avoid most problems not to mentoring save money to spend on stuff like the 86 key change she ordered for me at the same time.

Frstorm 07-27-2013 04:08 PM

I think my wife is into a mod kick now, today we were driving and she says I'm really getting tired of those yellow running lights. Lets replace them with led's. So within a few days ill be ordering the led's.

Frstorm 07-27-2013 07:31 PM

Sorry for a third post but went to order just the running led's and wife was like where they have a package for basically every led light for 160 why don't you just do that. SCORE.
